Theyd have to use cgi in most of the shots and the expensive kind so it doesnt immediately look like shit, but since these movies obviously cut more corners than a circle factoty during production he was cut as well to save money. Dude lmao why do you care about a cartoon have sex etc.

I think there is a problem with the entire premise of making a more realistic version of Aladdin, while the original genie was great as a completely surreal 4th wall breaking character making gags out of everything which williams was perfect for. He could also carry a tune which is pretty important for a musical.

The guy who plays Aladdin doesn't seem to terrible. In this scene he looks unsure of himself and a little overwhelmed after going from street rat to prince which is on the money. The princess is pretty hot as well, that's pretty much the only thing you need for her role.
But fuck me, Will Smith was completely wrong for the part of genie. He can't sing. Smith has charisma but it's not apparent at all in this clip, it's like he's just going through the motions and not putting any energy or life into the role and the song. Listen to Williams version of this song, that's how you do it right. It's a night and fucking day comparison.
Also, it has the production value of an insurance company commercial. Visuals are terrible, at least in this scene. Bleh.

Yeah for sure, a whole cornerstone of production was Williams doing improv and the writing team picking/choosing/animating material. The entire scene at the beginning with the guy selling the lamp was made from Williams being put in front of a table with props of all those objects and him just ad libbing
