Yea Forums in general has been dead for a minimum of 5 years now, if not longer. What we're experiencing is the equivalent of a chicken running around with its head cut off. It's a sad reality, but reality nonetheless.

I almost forgot that YTMND had its own nomenclature which used the word 'fad' instead of 'meme.' The end of gamergate and/pol/ harbor without a doubt. The collective impact of those events were like a third impact for the entire internet. Without a doubt it signalled the beginning of the mass-censorship era we are inhabiting today.

the 2016 election was the final nail in the coffin for /pol/, and by proxy several other boards, but it was by no means the start. A more reasonable explanation for the decline of /pol/ would be the Zimmerman trial, undoubtedly. I can't speak for the fate of other boards, though. Then again, as someone who browsed "/pol/" when it was still /n/ and /new/, it's been through a cycle of death and rebirth before. Each time it has lost a part of itself. Also chanology is a good reference point for the decline of Yea Forums in general.

Yeah, it's felt for a while now that Yea Forums doesn't have much of it's own culture anymore. People fucking start threads with unironic twitter screencaps. Every time I go to the debate forum it's the same 12 40 year olds that never moved on besides converting to SJWs talking in the same 7 year old mega threads.
