In the books its even more obscure because the Prince of Dorne is later presented with a massive skull that is claimed to belong to Gregor and "Sir Robert Strong" has a full plate helm that entirely covers his head so you can't even see his eyes.

You should review the battle at Hardhome. White Walkers are all immune to fire, can extinguish fire within a radius, and they will not die from conventional weapons. They all have super strength and durability. Normal weapons, provided they can pierce the icy skin, would do the same damage they do to wights: nothing.
They also possess their own ice based weaponry and armor. Their ice weapons can instantly shatter non Valerian steel. Their ice armor can reflect color in a tuneable way, giving them camouflage in any snowy area.
