>Ruling is hard. This was maybe my answer to Tolkien, whom, as much as I admire him, I do quibble with. Lord of the Rings had a very medieval philosophy: that if the king was a good man, the land would prosper. We look at real history and it’s not that simple. Tolkien can say that Aragorn became king and reigned for a hundred years, and he was wise and good. But Tolkien doesn’t ask the question: What was Aragorn’s tax policy? Did he maintain a standing army? What did he do in times of flood and famine? And what about all these orcs? By the end of the war, Sauron is gone but all of the orcs aren’t gone – they’re in the mountains. Did Aragorn pursue a policy of systematic genocide and kill them? Even the little baby orcs, in their little orc cradles?

>Why would I sit for years on completed novels? Why would my publishers — not just here in the US, but all around the world — ever consent to this? They make millions and millions of dollars every time a new Ice & Fire book comes out, as do I.

>the good guys had to have wiped out the orcs see they're not all good heh nice try kid Tolkien is shit
>the Night King's entire army had to be obliterated neatly with no survivors so my characters wouldn't had to make a moral choice
Bravo!

This man is a genius. He had no idea how to finish his book so he fed one of his drafts to D&D and is now assessing reactions.

Now he will say that it had nothing to do with the books and go another route.

I thought he was a Tolkien expert? Im barely a fan and even I know the Orcs are born fully formed

no they arent, retard. find me an example in the text, oh wait you can't nigger. of the little we know about orcs, it's stated in the silmarillion that they reproduce after the manner of the children of ilúvatar (men and elves). they are not born as adults. you dumb nigger. fuck you nigger.

Mad cause bad, maybe try reading one of them sometime instead of just watching The Hobbit.

Pretty sure Tolkien wrote somewhere that Orcs don't have the flame imperishable like men do, because they were created by Morgoth and not Eru, so they don't actually have souls but rather just animated beasts, kind of like robots, so there's nothing wrong with killing them.

that's dwarves

No faggot, Dwarves initially didn't have it since they were created by Aule the Smith, but then Eru was nice and gave them flame eternal.

Orcs were created by Morgoth and were never given it, same with Dragons.

I thought they were the result of tortured elves. And Uruks were tortured men? Although I'm sure I got that from the Tolkien bestiary so I'm not sure how canon that info is.

Also In response to OP and this quote being brandished everywhere. I am sure G.R.RM was being a little tongue in cheek with this comment. But I guess retards on the internet don't into subtlety.

GoT fans btfo hahaha

What's George RR Martin's tax policy?

So.. What is Daenerys tax policy Geroge?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ruling is hard
Oh, it's you again.

What's Jons tax policy Grergeo?

That's why Tolkien is so good - he's rooted in the traditions of medieval and pagan heroic epics. He's not corrupted by Marxian materialist bs like Martin.

What is Bran's tax policy, Grugoe?

they were initially wild elves captured and warped by morgoth in the 1st age I believe. but that was long ago, they reproduce somehow. as with the other races in his story, Tolkien didn't feel that was worth going into.

what is Sansa's tax policy, Gog?

>writing is hard. This was maybe my answer to Tolkien, whom, as much as I admire him, I do quibble with.
