stop making memes. This is a real event that claimed the lives of hundreds of people and almost caused a true global holocaust. If you want to talk about the show be goddamn respectful.
>3,6 hours
Sadly the real number is much, much higher comrade.
Was were russia streets really this clean in the 80's? Despite the grey commieblocks the whole way everything seems to have been built in such an orderly fasion appeals to me
Based
Reminder to stop spreading alarmism
Looks like you're asking for some roof time.
The evacuation scene in he second episode made me cry, user.
It just blows my mind that I was born only 10 years after the accident.
tell that to the writers
Kursha-2 was a bad fire made worse by idiots in the local Soviet, killing about a thousand, since it was 1936 it was mostly covered up so they could just make shit up
why did the flashlights stop working?
Soviet tech.
radiation fried all electric stuff
BORON? PFFFT SURE YOU WOULD DUMBASS
THOSE WHITE CISHET M*LES AT PRIPYAT CAN'T DO SHIT WITHOUT MY HELP
START MY HARRY POTTER CAR YOU LAB FUCK BOI
YOYOYO LEGASOV U MADE LAVA STEAM GO BOOM YOU EGGHEAD BIGOT
YOU AINT SHIT YOU AINT SHIT
DAS RIGHT GORBIE IMMA STRONG SMART WOMAN HEAR ME RAWR
calm down user, it was only 3.6 roentgens
Pripyat probably would have been as clean as it is portrayed, the city itself was less than 20 years old and everything was new, that's one of the biggest tragedies of Chernobyl, a comparatively brand new city was abandoned
shouldn't we all take iodine pills?
with the amount of radiations and what not we are exposed daily...
Why did I see graphite in the last thread?
You get it from salt.
This man is delusional, send him to the infirmary
Why is everyone ignoring the fact this is Jewish anti-Soviet propaganda done by (((people))) who are still butthurt Stalin didn't hand over control of the country to them like the US did?
Reminder that USSR didn't own simple grain elevators.
Atom cities were THE dream cities of USSR. All the premium stuff was going there.
Comrades, please link me to a good quality strea or download link of Episode 2.
I am but a poor citizen of central Europe.
The EU they wants to deprive us of such kino. Please, gentlemen, I may not be pure of heart but my cause is just.
this man is delusional
Reminder that history is bigoted and wrong and you should be ashamed of yourself for being a part of it.
top kek
If you ever see graphite on the floor, run and never look back.
what would happen if i push my balls onto this?
Pripyat was a newly built city designed to cater to nuclear plant workers. It was a model community.
You'd have sex.
your children will grow up to become superheroes
thanks, my face is sunburned now
Yikes! all those toxic cishet pretending they know anything about nuclear. Go back selling shoes or something.
Why couldn't he accept that an explosion had taken place, Yea Forums?
Gentlemen, please! You must understand!
because a rbmk reactor cannot explode
because then he would have to accept that he had fucked up
No! I won't have sex.
I loved this scene because the first guy's flashlight started going and I rolled my eyes at the horror movie cliche of the faulty torch, but then they all start going and you realise what's actually fucking happening
1. RBMK reactors cannot explode.
2. The Soviets told me this and they would not lie or make mistakes.
3. The radiation level is only 3.6 rot, nothing to worry about.
4. That man is delusional.
it only works against radiation from ingesting iodine 131 by displacing it in your thyroid
it does fuck all against other sources of radiation
>claimed the lives of hundreds of people
40 or so
Wasn't there some really famous grain elevator that was fought over in Stalingrad during WWII.
"Thank you for your service"
So did the chief engineer and the owner of the plant get killed?
indeed there was
took the Germans almost a week to take it
why didn't they just load up bags with sand/boron into cargo planes and drop them in with small parachutes to slow them down to like 50km/h
ASPECT RATIO
>it's the book is better than the tv series episode
Why didn't they use a trebuchet?
10 years prison, shortened to 5
go away, your idea hasn't improved any since last night
true to the era, cope
That's a very good book, I'm gonna reread it after the series is over
we have deduced a flawless plan
If you want to drop one bag in the reactor and two hundred in front and past it, sure.
they should have used milky bags of salty coins instead
>written by a woman
No thanks, I only read books written by men like me
no wonder everyone in the Soviet Union was so unhappy, they were crammed into a tiny box
Bros wtf
>it's real

How long until the first black Russian appears?
based
Best post in thread
no wonder everyone hates you
low altitude/low speed parachute drops are pretty accurate you retard
we all are in some form or another user, all we have is tv shitposting on an anime imageboard to distract us
hello Donald
>believing disinfo
>going low-altitude in a Soviet cargo plane
sounds like a great recipe for crashing into the plant, comrade
Next episode. Last one will have a gay man.
it's ok. It's only 3.6 roentgens
low altitute as in 1km
It still exists
>black man, gay man and roastie form a team and save Europe
Don't be ridiculous. Of course you will.
Why the fuck did Legasov feel the need to correct Gorbachev over 50m people? It adds nothing to the point that was being made and merely made the super-boss man himself look bad.
Seriously he's lucky he wasn't shot for that. Tyrants have executed people for less.
Big reveal: Legasov was a closet homo.
>Retarded soviets can't manage a badly made reactor
>Thus you should use clearly inferior energy production methods that either are only viable in space or are just generally shit
holy fuck the ost is kino
I'm from Poland and while nothing much happened in my country because of Chernobyl some things did happen.
My mom told me she was working in the garden and suddenly a huge swarm of mosquitoes and other flying insects swarmed Warsaw and we're smashing at windows and randomly dying all around even causing car crashes. They were essentially forced to stay indoors for 2 days due to insects and various animals going crazy. The animals at the zoo kept killing themselves and each other, lots of crazy stories.
>gorbie
>tyrant
>the audience that watches this show
Pizdos!
Can you watch the show and skip her parts? Or it wouldnt work
>Legasov
He thought he was dead either way.
>Fifty thousand people used to live here...
>Now it's a ghost town
>Gorbachev
>Tyrant
I wish
>believing any story from poles about soviet union
It's just a le smart outranked science man trope.
to create a stannis moment or something?
It would, just mentally replace her with already existing Legasov and you'll understand how useless her character were.
>be from a post soviet country
>watch this with my mom
>she tells me how did the regime said fucking nothing to the people
>once she had a phone call from her friend
>she was a kindergarten teacher for the kids from the political party
>she alerted my mom not to go out, also take an umbrella all the time with her and not eat stuff which can be radioactive
not a big stuff I was just feeling the need to share it
Gorbachev wasn't a brutal dictator. He wanted people to speak candidly.
>mosquitoes randomly dying
Based, fuck mosquitoes. We need more rads to eliminate all mosquitoes.
Everything except the gorbie conference where she backs up the main man can be skipped, and that one isn't that bad.
Why is episode 3 coming out now? There is a leak?
Here.
I solved the so called nuclear """risk""".
Great. Thanks
You can skip all her parts except when she meets with Gorbachev. I'm actually thinking about editing her out myself once there's blu ray rips.
>how does a nuclear reactor work?
>its a simple question
Yeah. I just treat her like an inclusive stand-in chorus for all of those scientists
he said they will die in a week. Why didn't they die?
Can i b on the list?
power plants are more than just one building and an exhaust pipe
SCHERBINA X LEGASOV WHEN???
interesting user thanks for sharing
5000T isnt much
The next episode
They didn't fly over the core
THOSE FUCKING HELICOCKSUCKER SCENES WERE PURE, FUCKING
KIIIIIIIIIIIINO
are you from the future?
I'll be super respectful
>Hello?
>Anonymous?
>Yes?
>You're the anonymous who is the first deputy director of the Yea Forums institute of atomic shitposts?
>Yes, who am I spea...
>This is Admin, deputy chairmen of the Council of Ministers and Head of the Bureau of Memes and Shitposts. There's been an accident at the Kinobyl Nuclear Meme Plant.
>How bad is it?
>No, no need to panic. There was a tripfaggot, he's mostly gone now. The CAPTCHA crashed.
>reCAPTCHA. And the core?
>We wanted them to continuously pump memes.
>Yes, I see. Any contamination?
>It's minor, the plant manager Mod is reporting 3.6 shitposts per hour.
>That's actually significant, you should evacuate the boar..
>You are an expert on [s4s], correct?
>Yes, I've studied...
>General Secretary Hiroshimoot has appointed a commitee to manage the accident. You're on it. We'll convene at 2 this afternoon.
>That late? Forgive me but, don't you think, given the amount of shitposts that it would be...
>Anonymous, you're on this commitee to answer direct questions about the shitposts of [s4s], if they should happen to arise. Nothing else, certainly not policy. Do you understand?
but the big russian fuck said the pilot to fly over or he will shoot him
Shoot zi elephants foot soviet union always will khaf more bullets than graphite bullets.
But what if it melts through the concrete shield in 72 hours because the tanks are full.
Check fucking mate you white cis male scum.
They really had to introduce a FICTIONAL female character that literally comes in and tells all the male scientists they are wrong and basicly YAAS Kweens into chernobyl to save the say.
smart WAMEN that didn't even exist
why do americans ruin everything?
>blackfaces
THEY DID IT
He should have folded a piece of paper in half and stuck a pencil through it.
>hundreds
kek
bet you think we'd be better off buring coal too
... Now, I have spoken directly to Deputy Secretary Janny.
Janny spoke to Deputy Chief Moderator, Moderator to Central Committee member Admin, and Admin to General Secretary Hiroshimoot.
Now...
Because the Central Committee has the greatest respect for the work of the Kinobyl Executive Committee, they have asked me to brief you on matters as they stand, so...
First, the tripfag... is well under control. And second, because the efforts of the Kinobyl shitposting industry are considered key board secrets, it is important that we ensure that this incident has no adverse consequences...
a nigger
never forget how much actual history an average westerner knows, people here hardly know the difference between say Serbia and Ukraine (which are all Russia with a funny hat of course)
got chills when this happened and the guy said "you'll be begging for that bullet tomorrow"
Rewatch the scene. The pilot manuevers to the right, after Legasov tells him he'll be begging for that bullet.
I can't stop staring at this, will I be alright?
Would you rather work in a coal mine or a nuclear power plant?
that's not a hazmat suit, it's a faraday suit
It's not about Soviet Union it's about mass migration and death of insects that were fleeing radiation. Also Poland was under Soviet occupation at that time.
She’s radiating with beauty lads
Bozza was actually pretty based this ep. Was the real Bozza this based?
wont be great, wont be terrible either
Another thing they do well is the reactions from the lower ranking soldiers and guards. Pretty stoic until he said "WE'LL BE DEAD IN A WEEK!" then the guard next to him looks over with a worried face/
She's so perfect and knows everything. God the USSR should have really let the commands to more women like this.
How the fuck were they so fucking brave to go in the radioactive water
even if the world would end and everyone would die because of me there is no way I would go there.
NPP, how is that even a contest?
Wat was that?
you can't counter conspiracys with logic or reasoning

Did they fucking open the sluice gate?
THE FLIGHT PLAN I JUST FILLED WITH THE COMMITTEE LISTS ME
MY MEN AND PROF LEGASOV HERE
BUT ONLY ONE OF YOU
FIRST ONE TO FLY OVER THE REACTOR GETS TO STAY ON MY HELICOPTER
H-HE DIDN'T FLY SO GOOD
Were USSR plants all manned by chefs?
Guys those three men are stuck in the dark in the radioactive water for a whole week until the next episode. i'm scared i'm going to have really bad nightmares now
borscht
Yah Gorbachev was pretty chill compared to his predecessors. Imagine if someone like Stalin was in charge during Chernobyl. He'd force people to kamikaze into the core holding bags of boron and sand.
Don't feed the retard, user. Let him alone with his miserable ignorance. It's funnier that way.
Whose Rogozin
yes, completely in the dark
guys, guys, radiation doesn't even anything those 3 guys who go down into the water LIVE! 2 of them are still alive today!
this proves for a fact that radiation is totally harmless and this is all just another liberal conspiracy.
NEVER HAPPENED IRL
SMOKE WAS WHITE
Would they have been able to take lit torches down there? Wouldn't they know beforehand that the radiation would fry the flashlights? I'm a brainlet, forgive me.
Gorbachev was absolutely based and probably wouldn't have done that.
Why were the other dosimeters in safes?
fuck that ending for ep2 was intense
>mfw geiger counter tick frequency increasing
From Serbia here. People remember fruits and veggies were all fucked up that year. Big ass tomatoes , all kinds of deformed tomatoes, fucked up apples
Finally, an Ukrainian nuclear engineer of color, something history books were trying to keep away from you.
>press button for instant plague lava
that incident was made famous by a BBC "documentary" which had them turning the valve with their last breath and dying on the spot.
Problem is: two of them are still alive today (or at least two years ago), the third lived until he was 65 years old
>He thinks the reactor can explode
Why would we need bigger dosimeters, 3.6 is enough.
Watching this episode made me realize how much I like helicopters, such a magnificient, elegant feat of engineering. I think I might be, dare I say it, helisexual
Good effort, user
gonna guess that it would be a bad idea to bring actual torches down there, in case they managed to set something on fire which then got even worse and then triggered the reactor to explode again
>having to turn the volume down because you're getting anxiety
please eat plutonium. only libatrds wouldn't do that
>This is a real event that claimed the lives of hundreds of people and almost caused a true global holocaust.
Fake news. Tell me how an RBMK reactor can explode. You can't? Well then it didn't happen. You're delusional. Go to the infirmary.
I hate fucking russians
I really do
Every single bad thing on this world comes from them
Also my ex was a russian, fuck her
Can anyone explain how radiation fries flashlights and other electronics? I figured the robots died because they had more sensitive components.
Also here's a fun nuclear related article: en.m.wikipedia.org
what are those black badges hanging on the top button of the reactor workers?
I ... I want to dig my face into it
>Also my ex was a russian, fuck her
How do I get in contact with her?
make it >3.6 shitposts per minute
3.6 per hour isn't terrible at all, while 3.6 a minute is not great, but also not terrible
they live, radiation is all a lie; it's actually good for you liberals just don't want you to know
>Fukushima was 10x bigger catastrophe than this
>nobody talks about it
why
they're pretty damn impressive when you look into the actual mechanics
Holy shit reactor chan what the fuck
Fukushima was boring.
cause it wasnt you dipshit
Is this show good? I'm out of things to watch
No wonder your face ends up all red if you look at that
>Fukushima was 10x bigger catastrophe than this
[citation needed]
If you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you
Fucks up batteries and overall electicity i guess.
But what possible meter?
Highly energized particles strike bits of the wire and mess with its chemistry and lattice structure, this continues until the material's chemical properties have been altered enough that they no longer function properly.
So some worker doesn't disapear it and pawn it off on the black market.
Real reason is probably because they are precise tools and need adequate storage
Jokes aside, I'd watch a pitch-black buddy cop comedy with those two.
I will fix the core, frens.
Would radiation really trip up flash lights? They have no internal circuitry so unless it fucks with the bulb filament or the battery they should work fine.
it's been absolutely great so far
I prefer my opinion to yours
Rate this scene

You are derusionar!
>A 2012 analysis of the intermediate and long-lived radioactivity released found about 10–20% of that released from the Chernobyl disaster.[219][220] Approximately 15 PBq of caesium-137 was released,[221] compared with approximately 85 PBq of caesium-137 at Chernobyl,[222] indicating the release of 26.5 kilograms (58 lb) of caesium-137.
fucks with the batteries
I'll watch it on your recommendation then, any links?
way less interesting, Fukushima was just a bomb being dropped, Chernobyl tells a story of gross incompetence that lead to devastation.
9.5/10
kino in almost pure form
genius
nuclear safety should hire this man immediately
saved
the flash lights fuck up because they guys said that happened, it was probably just soviet quality craftsmanship and nothing to do with radiation. holy shit stop asking about it.
They put the emergency cooling water above the reactor in new plants. You know, because gravity, who would of though that...
because nobody cares about japan
it's pure kino
independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/why-the-fukushima-disaster-is-worse-than-chernobyl-2345542.html
>the absolute state of your education
>3 men volunteer for a suicide mission to save over 50 million people
>are not even mentioned in history books
they forgot to put fresh batteries
Radiation is atomic energy which passes through everything and scrambles its basic blocking builds. This includes life, electronics, robots, cameras, flashlights, everything. On the macro level, shit just stops working.
why not both?
cant wait for more releases
>Communists
>people
Did you not hear the geiger counter going fucking insane? It's very likely the radiation was causing some issues.
>suicide mission
>they live
they're not remembered cause they fucked up
piratebay, dumbass
>Fukushima was just a bomb being dropped
You mean Hiroshima.
Reddit show for reddit cringeoids who think 'le epic nuclear explosion haha radiation everywhere this is like my fallout games xDD' is good.
>Fukushima was just a bomb being dropped
Because it didn't really happen. IRL it was a cakewalk and all of them made it out alive and lived their natural lives.
Although the scene was cool and all - it was suspence for suspence's sake.
They survived and lived for decades, it wasn't that dangerous actually
Wouldn't the initial explosions in this scenario have caused the dreaded third explosion much faster by blasting the roof off the reactor and dumping the above water on the reactor?
>why the fukushima disaster is worse than chernobyl
>article doesn't explain why
BRAVO JOURNALISM
I skim read this article and it seems to have been written by a fucking moron.
yes.
whatever, nips suffer from overpopulation anyway, anything that sweeps a portion of the population off the face of the earth was probably orchestrated by the emperor himself.
How many Roentgens?
disinfo shills out in full force. really destroys these great threads.
Someone posted a control room beneath the core a few threads ago. Is this shit real?
Do you think they'll show any robots at all? I'd really like to see them.
Ananenko.
iirc robots weren't used for a few years, so maybe
It seemed very dangerous when they were volunteering for it. They just got lucky that the water level was much lower than expected.
The big problem with women scientist isn't that she's there - fine, they wanted a stronk womyn to act as composite character for other scientists.
It was rather the introduction that was stupid. shows up halfway the disaster, in her own car, is escorted in by security, and immediately points out what is wrong with the plan. This is ridiculous.
In stead they should have introduced her in the scene where Legasov was waiting to enter the politburo meeting, as a second scientist they put on the committee. Then have them investigate things together or whatever.
>This post is fine i've seen worse.
30,60
>don't worry it's just blasting into your brain 24/7
>you're delusional, go to the infirmary
After two weeks of reading I still don't understand nuclear reactors.
Japs need radiation to come up with anime
>to the workers of the world! *drinks pure vodka*
what a FUCKING chad
they really do live user, these guys die tho from episode 1
Fukushima had 3 meltdowns due to emergency cooling being taken offline. Chernobyl only had 1. But Fukushima was contained at least.
All memes aside, scientists do have a tendency to over-state the worst case outcomes in just about every disaster scenario, so the fictional woman's behaviour is probably pretty spot-on. I wonder why that is.
It was.
>12 years after the disaster, the then Ukrainian president, Leonid Kuchma, complained that his country was still waiting for international help.
>chernobyl arch was fully paid for by the EBRD, so basically France and Germany
dude fact checking lmao
One of the few benefits of an authoritarian regime is the fact that would be hooligans, street criminals and graffiti "artists" would get their heads bashed in and their bones broken by the milicija (commie police). Rights? Criminals don't get that.
uranium heats water, turning it to steam to spin turbines. that's it
all the divers died, try again
This is not great but not terrible.
What was the logic behind housing all the coolant in graphite, again?
they like a bullets
Yeah, that was me.
The point was that some of those scientists legit had to fight the authorities to present their analysis and were even threatened with imprisonment.
nigga its literally about boiling water lmao
>hooligans and street criminals
>are now the police
Based communism
1. radioactive material is hot
2. run water over the radioactive material to make steam
3. use the steam to turn a turbine
4. connect the turbine to an electrical generator
5. interrupt the radioactive decay rate using control rods when necessary
>Fukushima had 3 meltdowns due to emergency cooling being taken offline. Chernobyl only had 1.
Yes, and?
Who gives a shit about such a random number, consequences of these meltdowns are all that matter, it's just sensationalism for sweet sweet clicks
I would assume that it encourages some sense of urgency. That's what I would do.
Yep this. There's no victim culture in Russia. If you act like a fool, you get beat like one. It's a very effective form of punishment to keep people in line. Plus you know, there's no dindus constantly rebelling against muh racist popo.
Because overestimating the danger tends to have better outcomes than if you underestimate it.
too good
The duo of Boris and he scientist is pretty based
Then they should have shown that happening in stead don't ya think?
I can make steam in my fucking kitchen without risking causing an apocalypse, this whole thing seems inefficient.
kek
What does a nuclear reactor even do? How does the energy it generates help people and power their shit?
well i'm personally glad you lodged a valid criticism instead of just saying "le reddit xD"
this man is delusional
send him to the chest x-ray
brb making a nuclear reactor in my kitchen
You use oil and electricity to boil water.
Did you even watch the second episode?
And?
generates steam to spin a turbine. it's how most power plants work; they all just use different sources of energy to make a turbine spin.
>What happened next runs contrary to every English-language account ever written prior to 2016, which all said these men died. After a daring mission to drain Chernobyl's flooded basement by firemen, three of Chernobyl's staff donned wetsuits, strapped two dosimeters to each man and ventured into the depths of the plant. Radioactive water came up to their knees in places. Pictured is one of them, Alexei Ananenko (right, with the walking stick), in April 2018 receiving a medal for his bravery from Ukraine's Prime Minster. The group found the valves they were searching for amongst the tangle of pipes and successfully drained the pressure suppression pool. All three survived their ordeal and continued to work at the plant and lived for decades. Above is a photograph of Ananenko at Chernobyl in April 2018 receiving a medal for bravery from Ukraine's Prime Minister.
they died, stop
>Plus you know, there's no dindus constantly rebelling against muh racist popo
what about Chechnya
>the russians fighting in the elevator are not men but some sort of cast iron creatures. They don't get tired and they don't fear fire. The russians have set fire to the grain inside. Barbarity.
Are you stupid? The steam generated from them pushes turbines, which then generate electricity. Electricity goes into people's houses. Nigga do you even critical thinking?
>it's not 3 roentgen
>it's 15,000
Have you ever been off by a factor of 500?
Nigga you can power a nuclear sub for 3 years on a single lump of refined uranium
How big of a tank would you need to have 3 years of gas in your car?
Oh
that's not a bad idea so that's why its cleaner than coal?
>no source at all
This is actually a pretty good idea. With today's engineering surely we could think of a modern well aiming trebuchet?
Yes but if you were in a position of leadership without real knowledge of what's going on, you would want the most accurate assessment, not some doomsday scenario.
Case in point with Chernobyl. It was pretty bad sure, but the direct death toll from the disaster is in the mid-30s. Quite a ways shy from Legasov's claim that "the entire continent is going to die".
I don't see any reason why not.
Isn't this a stupid design? I doubt these guys would work any harder then the people at Chernobyl. Neither wanted an incident and did their best to prevent it. At any rate, if the reactor melts down and the core gets exposed, they'd still have to leave the station and go outside where they'd get hit with a strong enough radiation shower to die days later.
I saw that one nuclear plant design a few threads ago that had a runway into a concrete casket basement to contain the lava which I think is the best and smartest design yet. Your priority should be contain the radiation in the event of an accident, not punish the guys who made the mistake. ....that comes later.
Why is this thread swarmed by retards? We had such nice Chernobyl threads before. Did the GoT fags jump shit?
Where do the bullets come in?
>That absolute MAD LAD helicopter falling out the sky
Did that actually happen?
Well they have their own containment republic, and unlike negroes they are above shitting where they live.
Korea just got the APR1400 approved by the NRC last week. So the cost of new plants is now cut dramatically.
look up nuclear fission. it's the same reason atomic bombs work except you DONT want them to explode like an atomic bomb. you want them to explode really slowly. hence the use of graphite control rods.
well, cleaner in that you're not pouring a crapload of carbon and other particulates into the air from the burning process
but there is spent fuel left afterwards, which you can't just throw in the regular trash
5,000
Eat a dick. He tracked them down. Two are still alive and one died at 65 from heart failure. Dyaltov also died of heart failure but some suspect his heart stopped due to radiation.
Yes, there's even a video of it.
Kek, you think that design can meltdown.
to the roof with you, or the bullets come into you
this is true.
legasov and stjerbina buddy cop movie soon?
what shows do you watch? Sopranos?
>a literally who basedboy
and I should believe him why?
>500
try again m8. you can do this i'm rooting for you.
I honestly thought a nuclear reactor takes energy from the fission process and directly converts it into electricity.
Steam and turbines? How incredibly gay and underwhelming. Totally destroyed my wonder
>le ebic delusonal infirmary teehee amirite guis
reddit is thatta way
some book author did the research. Them dying seems to be popular due to a BBC documentary from the early 2000s
>Quite a ways shy from Legasov's claim
Because they prevented it??? retard
No, the helicopter is still alive today.
Are you paying attention? Crops in Poland were fucked up for the year. I'm sure there's people in Britain that got hit with a minor dose that was strong enough to cause early onset forms of cancer 30 years later. There's no accurate way of measuring that though - whether the cancer was genetic or environmental.
IM IN CHARGE HERE
Dyatlov received a fatal dose, so yes, it did damage his health. It was surprising he lived as long as he did.
>some book author did the research
well that convinces me
Yeah, essentially its a metal rod that gets insanely hot. No smoke, no dust, just energy.
The whole danger is when the metal rod is NOT inside the specially designed containment cell (the graphite).
We've actually got a new evolution of nuclear reactor on our hands which uses thorium, which iirc is much safer than uranium. Dunno where they are with the prototypes, im not sure any thorium reactors exist yet.
m8 it's in the wiki page about the disaster
>The bubbler pool could be drained by opening its sluice gates. However, the valves controlling it were underwater, located in a flooded corridor in the basement. So volunteers in wetsuits and respirators (for protection against radioactive aerosols) and equipped with dosimeters, entered the knee-deep radioactive water and managed to open the valves.[86][87] These were the engineers Alexei Ananenko and Valeri Bezpalov (who knew where the valves were), accompanied by the shift supervisor Boris Baranov.[88][89][90] Upon succeeding and emerging from the water, according to many English language news articles, books and the prominent BBC docudrama Surviving Disaster – Chernobyl Nuclear, the three knew it was a suicide-mission and began suffering from radiation sickness and died soon after.[91] Some sources also incorrectly claimed that they died there in the plant.[90] However, research by Andrew Leatherbarrow, author of the 2016 book Chernobyl 01:23:40,[86] determined that the frequently recounted story is a gross exaggeration. Alexei Ananenko continues to work in the nuclear energy industry, and rebuffs the growth of the Chernobyl media sensationalism surrounding him.[92] While Valeri Bezpalov was found to still be alive by Leatherbarrow, the 65-year-old Baranov had lived until 2005 and had died of heart failure.[93]
yeah but it wasn't the first, it happened months later , in october and there wasn't that huge column of smoke anymore, vid related

It wasn't the first helicopter like in the show.

This is the closest japs can get to some solid straight shotacon. Thanks to oppressive regime, SJW roastie whores and jews. We could have JAV's with actual porn stars and 12 year old boys...
Neither can RBMK comrade. Go to infirmary.
By morning you will be begging for that bullet, desu
How many chest x-rays big was Chernobyl?
It's using this one source from this one literal basedboyWhere is his evidence?
Do you feel in charge?
he's cute
>where's the source
>t-that doesn't count
One of those guys was awarded a medal last year and he'd given several interviews over the years.
i'm told its just one, so if any of you have been missing your doctors appointments...
Water hitting the reactor causing a huge ass fucking explosion was conjecture that was later disproved
>h-here's the source
>you want evidence? it's uh, in this book... written by this literally who
>pls believe....
To be fair, we know the history of countries that actually matter. Like a million deaths in some eastern Europe shithole doesn't even constitute a single letter in a respectable history book.
I fucking loved this scene, made a webm of it
>tfw all the pets are kill
Why did it crash?
i'd rather want it to be safer than cheaper
It hit a crane wire
>mfw entering the core room
Aliens
Unless it's the Holocaust because your merchant overlords will it, right mutt?
>en.wikipedia.org
>dishes out lethal doses of radiation in literal seconds
kinda makes core chan look like a bitch honestly
If he had received a fatal dose he would have died of radiation poisoning. He received a high dose and it affected his health. It was actually the second time it happened. He received a smaller dose while working on a nuclear sub. His son died of leukemia.
So in real life, did they even tell the three dudes they were most likely gonna die in a week? Or is that just added on in the series (thinking they were gonna die in a week)?
NEW: NEW: NEW: NEW:
People will claim they are affected by radiation (5% of the entire population of Ukraine claimed gibmedats for Chernobly at one point), but the fact you cannot prove statistically the cancer rate was higher as a result of radiation means the risk was greatly overstated.
Also in the immediate aftermath they made it out like the entire exclusion zone was basically dead and will be dead for hundreds of years if not more. But as it turns out today wildlife is actually florishing again and you could visit or even live in the less contaminated parts of it.
So lemme get this straight:
Dyatlov's decision to flood the reactor and sacrifice two of his staff helped create the doomsday scenario they're facing in episode 2? And the poor firefighters didn't help either?
For the same reason as in the show: the blades hit the construction crane wire nearby.
go back to The Jetsons
Because he did the research and tracked them down? What the fuck is this? Pics or it didn't happen?
Last time the writer went off about how covering up Chernobyl is the same as Trump labeling CNN fake news. I'm sure the next one is him talking about how proud he is of his fictional woman hero character.
>well it doesn't count because I don't know the author, I haven't read his book which is far from obscure, and I can't criticize him whatsoever but I choose to believe he's obviously lying because reasons
BRAVO SKEPTICISM
He was right, an RBMK can't explode when operated properly. They did a test totally outside of safe parameters.
That feel when I never had holocoaster class like most of my burger peers seem to have had
>That evacuation scene
Fucking hell lads
This kind of mentality towards history leads to the guarentee it will repeat.
I've seent the episode two times and have yet to watch it. So far it's pretty good. When I done watch't it I'm sure I'll really like it.
>arrived home drunk last night
>watched the whole episode
>today i remembered watching and liking it
>watched again because i didn't remember what happened
i should this more often
When a source is given to you, either you have valid ciritcisms of that source, or you shut the fuck up
How would you convert it without irradiating the shit out of and breaking said equipment?
Of course it's safe, wtf, you think they just threw this together over the weekend.
B T F O FUCKING JAPS NOW GO DRAW ME MORE CARTOONS WITH BIG TIDDIES
Ukrainian guy is in the thread. I will explain all shit. The core made bada boom cuz gay team were making some gay tests with it and GREAT USSR designer fucked it with it(if u have a question i will explain). Heli in 2 episode really fall down but it was on 2nd October 86. About those 3 mens , one of them has died, other 2 is still alive. All firemens who were hospitalized died in Moscow probably it was some radiation tests, cuz cold war and other shit. Those who were hospitalized in Kiev lived longer. Sorry for my bad English language.
Dyatlov received 3.9 Sv, which kills 50% of the cases within a month. But yes, it was actually his second dose as well.
I should also that
I apologize, must be the feedwater
I applaud your stupidity.
i guess they just knew it could be lethal but they could at least give them the best protection possible
the earth is flat
So that's the reason you guys are still crying about your civil war?
Stupid clickbait article, it's one mad man saying this and the whole government of Japan denying it.
god I love Yea Forums sometimes.
Post the spurdo picture
This dude was pretty based:
