Have you ever bought a toy for a movie or tv show you like?
Pic related, tempted to buy this Stranger Things lego set.

Seriously grow up. It's pathetic when grown men collect children's toys. Read a book or something.

car looks very good
Yea Forums is one of the only places on the internet that allows free speech. It's for all ages. You are mistaken if you think only basement dwelling losers post here.
just fucking go for it man, THIS is the time to do it, we live in a time where grown men buy ponies and do extremely autistic shit and its OK, as a guy I would totally buy that and even play a bit with it because it looks cool, there is no guy here that wouldnt like to own a lego set RIGHT NOW, even if you dont play with it look at it as building a diorama.
If you have the money go and fucking buy it, once you are done you can even pose them to make Yea Forums memes and take pics of them.
I would suggest recreating Sneed and Seed's shack.
Yes I have.
You are a brick guy.
>car looks very good
cba to find the youtube
Yes, when I was a child. Damn near every toy is based off a movie or tv show. I had Batman TAS toys, Ninja Turtles, Terminator, Robocop, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc, etc, etc. What a useless thread
Lego sets are pathetic now. You get a bunch of little people but you don't build that much anymore. A lot of the buildings/things are tiny just like pic related. I don't know what they are thinking.
any better shots on pontiac trans am?
lego recently went deep into muscle, charger (classic) challenger (modern) and both (classic/modern) mustangs or camaros
>lego recently went deep into muscle, charger (classic) challenger (modern) and both (classic/modern) mustangs or camaros
Speed Champs are awful IMO because they're made to only seat a single minifig in the center of the cab.
Licensed sets like OP's pic have superior vehicles because they're six-wides that actually seat two figs.
youtube.com
Here's the full video. Maybe you can moc it from this?
water world had a kino aesthetic
I remember seeing their live show at universal. Surprising they did something so elaborate for the film since it's not exactly a famous classic.
both of these look like single-fig ones
i remember lego tried 2-seater in some indiana jones copy-cat series. that was dope
car had very good scale and proportions for 1930s jeep. i wish they did something similar for modern cars
Loads. I've got Godzilla figures, Star Wars toys, Star Trek toys, Jurassic Park toys, Transformers, Batman, Kamen Rider, etc.
Actually I might have too many.
you cant pay denmark wages, provide quality plastic, and large sets at the same time for a reasonable price
>both of these look like single-fig ones
I looked closer and you're right
Pic related are a couple of my six-wide mocs that seat two figs side by side.
Actually, it's just the opposite. That set in the OP has 2500 pieces. A set of that many pieces was almost unheard of in the past. And at less than 10 cents a piece, it's actually cheaper than almost all past sets, when accounting inflation.
Given the choice, I think I'd rather just have the castle
Yes Star Wars Episode 2 when I was 12.
If you’ve never sent some greasy Hollywood Jew your hard-earned paper route money in exchange for a shitty plastic or rubber figurine of your favourite action hero with his facial features painted half a centimetre offset from where they should be then you’re probably not even a real person
Yeah, Black Knight's Castle is one of the best classic sets out there. But it contains 588 pieces and accounting for inflation would cost $160 today.
Compared to the Stranger Things set which pays royalties and still offers 2287 pieces for $200.
It doesn't seem so strange when you account for the fact most pieces are also tiny compared to older sets. An average sized brick before is about 4 times bigger than the average in new sets at least. It makes for more details and complex builds, but the cost has crept up. They just hide it in the details.
Why don't you collect modulars, Yea Forums?
I want that $800 Millennium Falcon.
costs a lot, heavy and had very little playability
meanwhile found my old lego sphinx set and could have fun with son
it had big pieces, agree, just like castle but at the same time it made set very lightweight and more playable
They don't sell these where I live. I wanted the movie theater but fuck if I was gonna pay to import one on top of the already high cost.
16+
At that age I've been succesfully drinking, smoking cigarettes and weed. I have also had sex with 3 girlfriends by that time. Are kids these days really so immature?
LMAO WEED
Pretending to be retarded just makes you seem actually retarded.
Jesus, is that real?
I remember in like 2007 as a kid, even I felt that Lego was using too many licensed characters and needed to do more original things. Stranger Things is a pretty bad indicator of where the company has headed since then.
Also
>16+
you play with legos and Im the retarded one?
yes
don't worry while you were doing all that I was probably playing lego in my room too.
Last unlicenced stuff (apart from generic city/space) I rememeber was Adventurers going Orient. After that I didn't care much, forgot about LEGO.
I'm not the one who's pretending to be ignorant of rating systems while browsing the Television and Film board.
don't mind me, just the best licensed set coming through
Yea mate all tht weed made u a retard
Yeah, was that 2003-ish? I remember a bunch of cool lines like Alpha Team, Jack Stone, Orient Expedition, Mars Mission, etc... all toast after Star Wars started picking up.
To be fair, not a lot of small children are into Stranger Things and even fewer will spend $200 on a detailed house diorama when they could get a giant, playable ninja pirate ship or at-at walker for cheaper.
Their Ninjago stuff is original also. It's basically the last theme that's not licensed, because even their LEGO Movie stuff piggiebacks on some licensing. At this point it's also one of the longest running themes because they refuse to let it die because then they'd have to think of another idea on their own or rely almost exclusively on licensed sets.
I ain't ashamed
Tons of Star Wars prequels legos when I was a kid
When I was younger I had a lot of the little die-cast metal Star Wars spaceships. One thing that I've wanted since I was a kid and would absolutely buy if I ever found out it existed is a model of a Pelican from Halo. Those things are so cool.
legos have sucked ass for at least 15 years now
That's pretty cool, but unfortunately it's the gay-ass anime redesign from 343. I still like it but it's not the same as the original.
Movie cars scale models. Christine, General Lee, cars from James Bond, Fast and Furious and so on.
>lego has sucked ever since i grew up

post lego millie plz
nice
Name one (1) more kino LEGO series. You can try. I'll wait but you will fail every time. They were so kino that Professor even had a camera to record Johnny and the team discovering mummy's tomb.
Had both
She's the blond kid with the pink skirt and loleggo in the middle of the OP pic.
There's also like at least two Mega Bloks ones but those are like 300+ dollars
This theme was wat more kino
no. legos for the past 15 years has been nothing but licenced garbage like star wars, marvel, harry potter etc. there arent any more generic themes like wild west, castle, underwater submarines etc. no imagination required anymore.
you dense cunt.
I had flying saucer. it was very round for a blocky LEGO stuff.
I own approx $15k worth of LotR statues and props
Fuck this gay thread, im gonna post KINO legosets
lego is bad for your brain and the environment,.
I had that set as a kid. That deep sea stuff was always cool. Also, thanks for reminding me my grandparents who bought it for me are dead.
Playing with LEGO in the bath or at the pool was fun as fuck. Had some sort of boat kit that basically let you build whatever on a floating platform. Plus you could try and build subs that wouldn't flood.
This box art perplexes me. It's a city theme set, so what's with the weird ice cave they're in?
based if true
lmao your parents must have knew they had no hope with you, buying you a lego sandwich making kit.
Something like this?
Plenty, pissed away a lot of cash on Hot Toys, trying to decide on this one atm, despite the show completely fucking their mystery to pieces.
whats this, jaws?
Real men call them hoagies, queer.
Like that but not that exact one. Probably got it 2001-2003 or so.
If you look real close it looks like the houses are just a single wall diorama. If that helps you decide.
Should I, lads?
/toy/ --->
No but this is
Please don’t
>Like that but not that exact one. Probably got it 2001-2003 or so.
I had this one. Small and cheap but made a great base to create own cruise boat or luxury yacht
just buy a gay pride t-shirt, it'll probably be cheaper.
Welt, seid mir gegrüßt!
I own three of these, got them for my birthday from two friends and one from my parents. The best part about LEGO, doubles are almost better than different ones.
> Implying I don't.
the only licensed lego themes I liked as a kid and want to collect to full would be the og starwars from 1999-till after the clonewars ended including ucs sets/anniversary sets, harry potter from 2001-2010, spiderman from 2003-2004, indiana jones, the original batman stuff they did, a few others and that would be it for licensed themes. I fucking love the bionicle line, architecture, moduler series, rock raiders, orient expedition, and few underwater series, and castle shit. There's more I can't think of and I miss when lego did weird creative shit. By god it is gonna be expensive as fuck to get brand new
Where do I buy old Lego sets especially bionicles or those weeb anime mechs
here's a few more - Lego Dino Attack 2005
All Lego vikings early 2005-2007/Knights Kingdom 2006/ viking sets
All Lego exo force sets 2006-2008. All pirates of the carribean sets all 5 movies (15sets)/ The Hobbit Lego sets 2012-2014/ The lord of the rings 2012-2013
I had this one, and the speeder bikes. Back before the prequels, back when Star Wars was still cool.
Paradisa sounds more like your cup of tea faggot
bricklink or ebay is your best bet mate
based
SNEED
why am i a faggot for expressing what themes I did think were good
Thanks friend, I was trying to remember the name of bricklink
You mean throwbots? (or slizers if europoor)
Dont mind him, he must be a Duplo faggot.
Ah yeah, I had that one and another bigger one. I think the bigger one was blue
>tfw these were great for hollywood style rich men mansions
don't underestimate paradisa sets. also they had a cool pizza set with small delivery van
Not him, but I doubt that's it, I distinctly remember there was a line with mechs that were piloted by minifigures and they had Japanese names and shit, think it might've been Exoforce or something
The environment was doomed 30 years ago. Our fleeting pleasure is all that's left.
Goddamn 90’s lego boxart was KINO!
I unironically wanted that LEGO theme series when I was a kid. I just never put it on my wish list because it was for girls and I didn’t want to be laughed at.
The reason was at that time LEGO didn’t really have just a basic fucking house. I mean look at the ice cream stall here, it’s something you get everywhere now, but back then it was buy the series for girls or forget about it. It annoyed me to no end back then that you could get houses ice cream stalls and what not, but it was for girls.
Looking at it now seems silly, but the selection of LEGO just wasn’t very broad back then.
Exoforce isn’t that old is it? Or maybe im just a boomer who thinks everything after 2000 is recent...
Fuck off zoomer
oh shit I remember these, they were pretty dogshit though.
God damn that's fucking rad
>zoomer
Just because I know it existed doesn't make a fucking zoomer, dumbass
exo force was 2006-2009 or 8 it was fucking cool shame it never got a 3rd year
I feel you, I always liked to build cities as a kid but the only stuff you could get were police or firestations. I unironically wanted pic related so bad just because of the window pieces
I wanted this set so bad. You were the coolest fucking kid in class if you had this.
Is this the same baseplate as in Sphinx set?
Ohhh, yeah, I forgot, I saved money and bought this when I was a kid, this figures were fucking cool.
They had a button in the back and when you pressed it the figure put a "battle/angry face" (the faces were made with silicone or something like that) it was "rad".
Good times.
I want a lego resident evil series or withcer series so fucking bad it hurts
Same Exactly! I wanted that so bad!
The first Futuron monorail is the one set I would buy without hesitation if they re-released it.
Also I don't want this thread to become all about lego so here's a picture of something I got last year.
Resident Evil would be amazing but what kinda sets would the Witcher have, itd mostly just be castles and shit. Kaer Morhen would be cool
Looks like it.
Also the richest kid. Im from a europoor country and I remember kids actually travelled to a toystore were this set was displayed, just so we could look at it. It was amazing. My parents could only afford small sets like these but I was still thankful.
Maybe I should call my parents more often, they tried their best
my work's desk ornament
yeah that's i was thinking and maybe buildable monsters like the giant tree man in that fucking huge lotr set. resident evil I'd mainly want the village in 4, the mansion, and police station in 2 and a few other scenes
My childhood, fuck.
Everytime someone mentions voyager I remember this (and also seven of nine's ass)
What was the best lego theme and why was it rockraiders?
rockriders sucked. not opinion, it's a fact. they sucked because they forced a lot of massive one-piece parts that could me made of several smaller. however they had cool drill
i have lego helms deep set
sometimes I look at it and it reminds me of two things: how great lotr is and why I never invite girls to come over
I had the near 1000 piece millennium falcon set and my retarded cousin broke it into hundreds of pieces. Now he's in the army taking care of his wife and his wife's son
fucking based. Never had it but always thought it looked cool. That box art is kino.
I had a KNEX big ball factory- anyone remember this? I actually still have it at my parents place tucked away in a corner in a closet. I need to get a new motor and fix up a few parts of it, but it's still almost 100% after almost 25 years
the GOAT Lego set as far as I am concerned
Wat was that legoset were you could put the figs in rubber tubes and they would fly trough them? Was some spaceshit if I remember correctly
because it was fucking weird theme it was great
mars mission?
terrible taste
It has an npc sphinx
agreed these were the best sets
i had some schoolmates over once and one tried to steal the treasure diamonds for some reason
first and only guy i ever punched in my life
>npc sphinx
???
A friend of mine had that thing at his attic. I never liked knex but that contraption was cool as fuck
Grey face, black dot eyes, vacant expression
Cannot unsee
YES thats the one!
All of these sick lego sets just make me resentful of the fact that I was a poorfag when I was a kid. I only ever got the table scraps of these themes, and by the time I was old enough to have my own expendable income lego had devolved into the same fucking star wars and capeshit and ninjago crap.
Seriously though, lego was GOAT toy. I can't wait to have kids of my own so I can pass down the collection I accrued, like my dad did for me.
Someone post Robert cop already
post some from the ninja/samurai theme
i literally had all of the first version of those
dang my parents got that for me after The Mummy came out.
Who throws away Lego?
I had some Harry Potter sets but sadly they're at my parents place. Been feeling that plastic itch so I bought a few sets recently
lego catalogues used to inspire me so much as a kid. I used to stare at them for hours, wondering how they made those pictures
I can absolutely relate. Outside of christmas and birthdays, and even then all I got were the lower middle sized sets.
Still, when they announced the return of the Pirates theme (which shortly got replaced by the PotC crap), I made a point of buying the pirate ship, which ended up being first (and to date, only) "big" set. Now all the other sets from that particular line cost more than I'm willing to spend and it looks out of place af next to my OG Pirates sets.
you still could buy the old sets you monkey goodluck in tracking them down though
Eat more chicken nuggets and leave your desk alone. And stop defiling it with your semen.
No worries, most of us were poorfags who never got any of the big sets. Lego was (and still is) fucking expensive
I bought it like that.
>nuggets
What do you mean by that?
There was a series similar to Indiana Jones. Check this small tomb. There was a cool chain mecahnism to open it and reveal a mummy skeleton.
Soon later one of "Tomb Raider" games came out, this time set entirely in Egypt.
Damn this thread made me miss building Legos so much, even as a 26 year-old dude I'd kill to have a decent set to build right now, too bad they're so expensive
What is it that's so satisfying about fucking Legos bros? Is it autism?
I don't have the space to keep toys. I guess I could buy them and the shunt them off into storage where all the other legos are, but at that rate why bother.
To all you Egypt-Lego-posting-Neets :
I love you. If I ever found one of those inside a date's house, I'd propose on the spot.
My childhood. My memories.
I hope you mean this and not that ninjago shit
If licensing hell is all LEGO is good for, then a licensed castle theme can't be that bad.
Well he did say the first version so I assume that's what he meant
I hate amerimutts so fucking much, all of your pathetic culture is based on mindless consumerism while your government fucks you in the ass. Mark my words, you are gonna live to see your "empire" crumbling down and I'll be there laughing like a mad man.
just fuck me up
I can't believe LEGO would make a minifigure of a convicted felon
Jesus, really? How good are you champ? Grow up ffs.
yeah man this shit
i probably still have them disassembled in my attic somewhere
is it possible to find instruction books online I wonder
Egypt theme was GOAT,
Also since this is Yea Forums here's something great for you. I've seen many LEGO stop-motion movies but hollllyyyy shit this is dope. Feels like LEGO version of "Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy"
Probably a big dose of nostalgia mixed with the fact that you couldn’t have it when you were younger and now you can. I unironically look up lego instructions online every now and then from older sets that I never got just to get that rush...
She's already stolen my heart.
the same thing could be said where ever you live you jealous third world country fuck
I think the Mars mission shit was about when I lost my interest in LEGO. Just couldn't really get into it the same way anymore. I guess that's when I lost my innocence
Best thread on Yea Forums right now
this was my favorite piece because my gran bought it for me shortly before she passed

I remember the exact pirate sets you're talking about. I once went over to a friend's house and her little nephew was there, and he had TWO (2) unbuilt pirate ships - one from the last pirate theme and one from the PotC theme. He hadn't built them yet because they were too advanced for him, so he and I sat on the floor all afternoon building them together. The little dude was so grateful once they were finished. We ended up putting on the first Pirates of the Caribbean film while having lego pirate battles on the floor.
Thanks for reminding me, user. I can't believe I had forgotten such a comfy memory.
The LEGO website keeps digital copies of all their sets online for anyone to check. Helps for those alternate builds too. Not sure how far back it goes, but if you have a set number you can easily check.
Wouldn't doubt some collector site hacking scans of older ones somewhere too. Just gotta dig a little.
>I'm too swole for this shit
thanks bros
Any other scrap raiders here that didn't care about the set as it was but only wanted the special pieces of it?
Wayyy back before the second Slave I came out I tried to build the old, original one but I didn't have the window piece so I was this close to stealing it from a friend who had the piece from a different set. My stupid consciousness stopped me.
How old are you? I had the same thing. I probably started jerking off around that age.
>Im 28 now
There you go.
lego.com
Bring back the Shogun!!!!!!!! For honooorrr!!
Poor Lepin factory workers :(
Reminder that lego jumped the shark right around 2002
>that animation
>that cinematography
>that audio
Motherfucking kino.
They're being dropped off in a bunker after getting an early warning about nukes. Why do you think later sets involved rock monsters and Mar mission? The surface of Lego earth is uninhabitable.
I used that stupid buggy stud. io creator to relive my childhood for a few weeks, building a huge ass pyramid and other sets that would be the successor so to say to those old sets.
As someone who loved model cars and Lego as a kid, those were like crack, they even had pull back motors. Pic related would do some wheelie shit like Vin Diesel at the end of the first Fast & Furious, shit was insane.
Also the Castle sets from the early 00's man, lost my shit when my mom bought me the actual fucking castle.
Why am I getting so hyped talking about Legos?
This thing looked so realistic back then
I'll be 27 this year.
screen of pyramid?
>The surface of Lego earth is uninhabitable.
Worse, they're escaping a nightmarish police state to other planets. Haven't you noticed how many police stations we've gotten, and almost no regular houses at all, like points out?
Let me guess, you played the SHIT outta Lego Racers for pc.
Remember building your own car, it was fucking awesome.
Well, I had lots of toys from moves and shows I liked when I was a kid, but wouldn't buy that stuff now.
We did have tons of Star Wars toys from the 70s and 80s and held onto them, expecting them to accrue some value eventually, but I guess a lot of other people had the same idea so most of them still probably wouldn't go for more than a couple dollars.
Fuuuuuuuuck I remember longing for this thing in the catalogs
And you know, I still want one - the modern Technic sets, trying to disguise their mechanical nature with all those printed plastic sheets, just don't appeal to me in the same way the 90's sets do.
>Have you ever bought a toy for a movie or tv show you like?
It's not a TOY, it's a COLLECTIBLE.
hopefully i will be able to complete some sets to post in a future thread
I think you’re on to something. Why are there so many lego train sets? They sure are trying to transport alot of people to a certain place...
Do you know I actually never played Lego Racers, I really should try it out
The only Lego videogame my parents got me was pic related and let me tell you it was absolute trash, it was a top-down racing game except it was on rails, you could only accelerate and brake, it was barebones af.
>Ultra rich live a life of elegance and excess
>Have huge numbers of brutal police at their disposal
>Regular legomen and women have to live in squalor scrape by what little money they have to get by
>Crime is rampant, and nothing is safe since thieves can literally carry off your car or home brick by brick
I got this for my birthday back in 98. It is probably the happiest childhood memory I have.
That train looked so fucking good
Paradisa does kind of give me that Miami Vice vibe...
Train sets that had batteries were the epitome of LEGOkino. The ability to make shit you built move was mind-blowing.
Anyone remember LEGO mindstorms? It was a computer thing you could put program on to run motors and stuff. I had 2 and my dad always tried to get me to make shit with it. I guess I was too dumb but i did make some cool cars and robots.
>for whatever reason got the itch to buy some LEGOS and build
>spent already $200+ on those Architecture sets
Fuck me.
>You've set me free.
>Setepai.
youtube.com
Army of Darkness has some good merch.
>main menu theme starts playing
>Anyone remember LEGO mindstorms
I do. Me and my older sister tried to make robot wars (or battlebots) kinda robots to fight against eachother
Haven't used the program in a while so the angles are shit. There are a ton of those shooters from Star Wars, you know, it is an archeological fact that all temples and tombs are full of traps. Also, break-away floors, the lot. Took inspiration from Tomb Raider as well. The good Tomb Raider games/movies. Not the new ones.
>not owning 1000s of copies of every piece ever produced in every color
KINO
Lego is just a more tedious form of funko pop now
Fuck this thread is so comfy I never want it to end.
note: The best part about this is: I managed to stay way below in the piece count. That set is not crazily expensive like a Death Star. And it has many functions and tech pieces. Smart, not elaborate. And it looks good, I think. It hasn't got that artsy cartoonish interpretation of a pyramid. It's just a pyramid shape.
>those window pieces hnnnnnngg
Yeah those modular cafe style sets are much more intrinsically valuable and also maintain value in the real world.
looks great, would probably have cried until my mum bought it for me if i saw it's huge box on the shelves back in the day
absolutely based
rock raiders was the shit too
Very good. I like 'damaged' look. While I can see trapdoors and other traps, I can't find SW shooters.
Also I guess this Tom Raider game?
During the height of my Spartacus fanatism I bought the board game based on the series.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't a cheap tie-in and that its enjoyable even if you aren't a fan of the series, had many fun nights with friends playing it.
I found the secret pirate door and laughed my ass off when I thought he was saying to press the "shit" key
My biggest regret in life is never crying loud enough to get the Republic Gunship, the first one, or one of the Millennium Falcons. Other kids had women in bikinis or Ferraris on their walls, I only dreamed about those. And I fucking had the money. But I always went for other sets. Smaller sets, but more in quantity.
THE DUDE WITH THE FOOD
what kind of game is it?
is there combat?
>imagine the smell
Of course this TR game
lambo countach? much better than pathetic black car that came with it
I have this set. It's the only one I ever had. Mom bought it to me when I was 7 or something. Loved that shit
Great set
Back when all of the big sets had box flaps that showed the figures / interesting pieces.
>But the sphinx inside the pyramid is straight out of the very first/TR Anniversary.
Sanctuary of Scion?
[jan hammer music intensifies]
this was one of my absolute favorites
as well as the movie it came from but give me a break i was ~8yo
You should have written to Billund in 1990 like the big boys. Sent me all sorts, big fuckers I still can't find scans of online. Insane space dioramas with the extra touch like in the manuals, but elaborate original constructions. Instructions for some models seen within also for the elite who made contact.
Fuck I would browse the shelves for hours, opening up those flaps at my local toys r us
I have this it's fucking great
I regret that they lie demolished in boxes rotting away nowadays
These, and the Creator line in general look so fucking nice. As an adult though I cant justify buying one which'll do nothing but collect dust after I've built it.
Exactly.
Although Tomb of Set also had an indoor sphinx.
I’ll suck your dick for those diorama’s, not even joking
>tfw we've all reached boomer status and can never go back to the mid-late 90s and play with our lego sets
Didn't want this feel today lads
>tfw all these Lego properties weren't around when you were growing up
Shit, I barely got a taste of Lego Batman. Where the fuck would I even put these enormous sets now?
The one where you had to crawl inside it's mouth, one leading to 'Burial Chambers'?
Mid 90s?
Golden age of Lego was 2000-2010
Growing up in the 90’s while playing with those classic lego sets are literally the best times of my life.
You're entitled to your opinion, but know that it is wrong
You make me so hard right now. You know your shit.
Yes. That one.
Kys zoomer
thank god plastic is not biodegradable.
i need lego Ahmanet
>Lego is just a more tedious form of funko pop now
Time to buy a 1970 Chevelle SS and sit by it in a lawn chair at car shows.
As an adult with them I can confirm they do indeed collect dust. They also get compliments from anyone who visits. They were a blast putting together too so the dusting seems worth it.
If I had room I would probably do more with them, but I don't so they just make for a good conversation piece.
>imagine the smell
We're 30 year old boomers lad, I imagine most are lusting after surpas or something
I'm a Star Wars man and manchild of the 90s, so I was at my most creative and smartest when I was in my teens and could enjoy the good Star Wars sets and mix old expedition sets with the orient expedition sets.
Paradisa looks so fucking comfy.
i remember being 14 and learning about hedonism for the first time too
cope boomer
I play with my legos every night in the Lego room of my house. Being a boomer means that I can buy all the legos I want.
golden age would'be been '79 to around '93
silver age '94 to '07
renaissance was '08 to '13
right now we're in the middle of the dark age of lego
>why aren't lego sets as big as they were when i was a third of my current size
a house that would fit 6 figs was unheard of when i was a kid
How can there be a renaissance during the period when licensing began to take over and all the original lines were put out to pasture?
This
Licensing killed lego
I saw that too in like 2009. Never saw the movie though.
because despite the licences taking hold there were still more og themes and good sets all for the most part in that time
now it's primarily licence sets, mediocre builds and inflated prices despite part quality being worse than ever
I've spend like 6 months with that game. Interent was not a thing and the level of insane puzze and non-linear locations with a lot of backtracking made it even more confusing.
I almost gave up at the following levels:
>Tomb of Seth - huge room with vertical turning cylinder and spears. A bit before said sphinx.
>Karnak - huge room with multiple level of collumns
>Tomb of something - a bit with creature that could not be killed, you had to figure it out
>Alexandria levels with catacombs and library
>Whole Kairo section of game, so confusing and annoying
>nearly final section with 4 rooms where you need 4 objects and there's a lot of traps, confusing corridors and puzzle related to 3 buttons
Right now, even after years and years I remember everything. This game made you feel like a fucking archeologist. Less action, more exploration. And more and more. Then when you think you tried everything, you find a new hole and there's twice more things to try. Previous games were very linear. Peru, Greece.. that was easy. Egypt in The Last Revelation was one hell of a challenge.
I didn't buy the sets, but I liked the jungle sets from city from last year/year before
not ready for these feels
During a great sadness I realized my old collection had been merged with my brother's. All the LEGO was now mine. In the closet I found an unopened Spyrius set of high piece count. You imagine that smell. Balsamic healing.
TR4 was visually and atmospherically the best game ever, but they didn't really explain shit. The immortal enemies.. I mean come on. How would you figure that out? Lara managed to kill everyone else so far.
And the ropes and vertical poles and all that.
My old PS gave up so whenever I want to relive it now I watch the walkthroughs of badassgamez on youtube. He doesn't talk as much shit as most youtube gamers.
Why did the media and toys and games work so well together during that time? Adventure movies, adventure games, toys...fuck it was a better time.
Aside from Aritecture and Ideas being first released in 08 there wasn't much to differentiate the period from before it or after it. Licensing was becoming bigger and 08/09 was when most original IPs were ended.
It wasn't a renaissance, it was the beginning of the end.
Unless you really hold Ideas and Architecture high. Which to be honest, they are some of the better themes. Except that they're pure licensing fodder save a few (like that kick ass Fishing store). Even buildings need to be licensed so architecture is a bad example there.
>mfw the Ulysses Cut has an extra 40 minutes of solid worldbuilding
>apart from generic city/space
there's a whole lego girls line with treehouses and ice cream stands and stuff like that, though i suppose it's still fairly generic
mfw i had all these sets + toys + more lego sets.
now all the lego pieces are mixed together, stored in my parent's attic in a dozen + 20 gallon tupperware containers. i keep telling myself one day i'll go back, sort em out, and try to sell em, but that would take decades and probably end up missing 1-2+ critical pieces for every set. lol
still have 2x of the giant huge lego millenium falcon mint in box cause my dad was a hoarder/smart enough to know it'd go up.
>TR4 was visually and atmospherically the best game ever, but they didn't really explain shit.
That's why I loved that game. You had to work with everything. Atmosphere of exploring a tomb, alone with few scorpions and that it. No enemies, only creative traps and dead ends. Modern gamers would be so pissed now.
>The immortal enemies.. I mean come on. How would you figure that out?
They made a lot of sense since they were Egyptian gods.
youtube.com
Also that ending. I don't count Angel of Darkness, for me this is where Lara's journey ends. She never made out of that pyramid, this is THE END. After that they had to reboot.
I still have the box for it
i always forget the beige fetish we went through
Yes
That's why I had lots of issues with Uncharted. Only shootout after shootout. Every model in it is made to serve as a hiding spot to wait out enemy fire.
I grew to love them but I still think there is too much shooting in it.
The immortal enemies weren't gods except for Set. And at no point was it said to the player what to do with them. The bull you could figure out, but not the minotaurus.
Also: I hope they make a proper Tomb Raider Soundtrack for this one and Chronicles as well. The Tomb Raider Suite Soundtrack is really nice, although fucking expensive. Had to pirate it because the shipping was far too high
Got this one recently.
>That's why I had lots of issues with Uncharted.
And reboot. While nu-Lara is cute as fuck game was fucking shit. The hardest puzzle tok me 3 minutes. This game was a joke.
Also almost forgot, 1 thing. The Last Revelation was FUCING DARK. They really took EGYPTIAN DARKNESS seriously and flares were very useful.
its basically a mix of resource management, bargaining with other players and then combat.
You start the first phase trying to form alliances with other players to mutually benefit (while at the same time looking for ways of stabbing them in the back), then move to the auction phase where you buy gladiators and equipment, and then finally the battle phase where you fight in the colisseum against another player.
>dark
yeah, but they gave you flares and torches. Added to the explorer feel. And, considering this was released in 1998, a fucking milestone in gaming.
>tfw used more flares than other guns ammo
i had the tape player and the gun one. man that gun one wouldn't be allowed to be made today.
Holy crap, that looks amazing. I still love Lego, but it's all licensed crap like Star Wars. I'd love it if they brought back some of their classic sets like this.
>tfw always wanted these but they were not available anymore
had to settle down with this little lego studios tomb. hey at least got a mummy
I just wait for Lego to one day making a Roman theme
Look up Pharaoh's Quest.
They've been retired for years but they'll be less expensive. Also you might want to try Bricklink before anything else if you wanna buy anything Lego.
IIRC, the blimp functioned as the packaging and all the pieces were stored inside. This set is also a lot smaller than I remember.
I have that pyramid set in the center and the temple looking thing on the right. I must have been all of 4 years old when I got those. This thread is making me want to go back and dig through my collection and rebuild all my sets.
A weapon to surpass Metal Gear
I had this small plane. It reminds me of floating plane from the opening of Indiana Jones. "I HATE SNAKES" scene.
My sister had this one
Just ordered a set
you just had a brush with millenial newfags, prepare to see more of these underage faggots who post out of their respective board.
MeTaL GeAr?!?
This was one of the first Lego sets I got as a kid. I loved it to death. Unfortunately, I'm missing one of those pipe pieces so I can't complete it 100%.
I had similar one but black.
Wow your life must be so interesting and shallow to shit on peoples passions. What do you collect dildos you faggot?
this was really cool and creative, there's so few sets that come out of this quality. When they do it's fucking worth it
Next time, don't reply to a troll post from five hours ago.
tfw don't have the space or money for this
Imagine the smell.
>soul
>souless
OK, meme aside Pharaoh Quest wasn't that good. They had like 2 bigger sets and the rest was all about strange creatures. However I liked 1 promo with a sarcophagus and few mummies. Great addition to original Adventurers.
Where did this "imagine the smell" meme come from?
best toyline ever
I got two Lagoona dolls
one's the school set, one's the swim set
i also have 2 pairs of monster high panties that i fap into but they're not toys
I have TWO of these
Although I painted one of them with acrylic hobby paint so he's not invisible anymore. I had tons of these AvP dudes. Bunch of preds, the AvP two-pack with Generic Xenomorph (he's currently chilling about five feet from me), the Alien Queen Hive, pretty much all the first wave of alien varients, and the CM who came with a bug costume
It came from Mart Shart posts
>They had like 2 bigger sets and the rest was all about strange creatures
The original adventurers sets weren't that different really. They just had more smaller sets with cars.
>jewing out your legos instead of holding onto them for the sake of your future bloodline
cmon user, don't fall for that shit
LEGO Adventure sets were amazing.
Not only. There were like 3 or 4 different medium-sized temples/tombs and these made the difference. You could place them all around room and have a lot of fun.
>Licensed sets like OP's pic have superior vehicles because they're six-wides that actually seat two figs.
Nah, they give you the illusion you can sit 2 but you can't, there's just not enough room for their arms. You can however modify them easily so the driver doesn't sit in the center like an idiot but you won't be able to sit 2 guys in a 6 studs-wide vehicle.
>passion
>buying legos of a Netflix show
I think only Adventurers managed to fit 2 figs side by side.
is this loss
you can if you use the plate pieces that move the stud in the centre, so the seats aren't exactly on the studs but in between two studs..hard to explain, but lego builders know what I mean
Something like in Luke's landspeeder from 1st series Star Wars? Later ones were 8-wide but 1st one was 6-wide.
I mean legos in general user, but I would buy this as a collector item as a one off because i never gave a shit for the show
I had the bottom right one (and the big temple), it was a lot of fun indeed but the builds have come a long way since then. Although it's true Pharaoh's Quest didn't have the best builds except for the 2 biggest sets.
Last year's Creator building, the diner one, has a car that's 6 wide and easily sits 2 minifigs side by side. It's not as easy to design, but the car doors they invented in the 80s were made thin for a reason. It's just so much easier to make single minfig cars though so it's not done often.
