It really shows how rushed everything is. It didn't need to be 6 episodes, it should have been 10. There needed to be a break in the plot after each major action in the show; the battle against the night king needed 1-2 episodes of downtime for the characters to process what happened, for characters to have more conversations with each other; Sam and Jon, Jon and Daenerys, Sansa / Arya / Jon discussing who he really is, not just cutting away, Davos and some small folk after the battles, etc.

There's just nothing anymore, the fight finishes and it's onto the next setpiece immediately with no break in the action, and now after another major event in the show there's only 1 episode to wrap up everything, meaning nothing of interest will come from that episode. Characters won't discuss what happened in depth, won't discuss who was lost, etc. The plot just HAS to chug forwards because they placed this autistic episode number limitation that has completely fucked everything.

Yes, D&D are shit writers too, but even if the plot was overall the same, with some slight changes and expanded to a normal 10 episode season everything would have been alright for the most part, at least a 7/10 show not the 3/10 abomination we're viewing.
