This just isn’t true. He does have godlike powers, but he isn’t omnipotent. We see him being wrong about multiple things in the novel, not only the final twist, but also moments like where they bring out his ex with cancer catch him by surprise.

He isn’t omniscient, he isn’t omnipotent. The whole juxtaposition is that he is both godlike and also human, and prone to mistakes that come with that (although he starts to leave this behind towards the end).
