SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Set Reports Round-Up

>The movie begins shortly after AVENGERS: ENDGAME.

>The Elementals are original characters inspired by comic book characters like Sandman, Hydro-Man and Molten Man. They were chosen because Spider-Man cannot simply defeat them in a fight and needs to use his intelligence to figure out how to beat them.

>The movie opens in Mexico, where Nick Fury and Maria Hill are investigating the aftermath of an attack by the Earth Elemental. Fury is struggling to rebuild his intelligence network after five years and, with the Avengers gone, he decides to assemble a new team to fight the Elementals.

>In New York City, Peter Parker is depressed over the death of Tony Stark. Ned convinces him to go on the school trip to Europe, believing they will be carefree bachelors, but begins dating Betty Brant on the flight to Venice. Peter has a crush on MJ and plans to declare her feelings during the trip.

>Aunt May is supportive of Peter’s crimefighting activities and ropes him into using his powers to help numerous charitable causes that she endorses. Happy Hogan is courting her and trying to fill in for Tony as Peter’s mentor and confidante, but all Peter wants a break from being Spider-Man.

>Flash Thompson is also going on the trip. He still mocks Peter while praising Spider-Man, and is now trying – and failing – to be a digital influencer. There are several humorous exchanges between Flash and Happy, as Flash believes Happy to be Spider-Man’s butler.

>Remy Hii is playing Brad Davis, Peter’s popular new classmate who begins dating MJ. Peter dislikes Brad because he lies about sharing the same interests as MJ, but Brad is actually very friendly towards Peter.

>J.B. Smoove is playing Mr. Bell, one of Peter’s teachers and the trip’s chaperone alongside Mr. Harrington, played by Martin Starr. The school can only afford really cheap, crummy hotels and transportation, but the teens are very excited and don’t care.

>In Venice, Peter witnesses the attack of the Water Elemental and is nearly killed before the sorcerer Mysterio arrives and fights it while Peter rescues civilians. Peter later learns that Mysterio and the Elementals come from a parallel universe and were accidentally transported to Peter’s earth by a tear in the space-time continuum caused by Thanos’ snap.

>Fury persuades Peter to join forces with Mysterio to stop the Elementals, because Mysterio’s powers are connected to them. Peter and Mysterio develop a bond since Mysterio supports and encourages Peter while Fury frequently criticizes him. Mysterio is also married in his universe.

>Peter wears a SHIELD stealth suit to prevent his friends from deducing his secret identity, although he later learns that MJ has already figured it out.

>From Venice, the group goes to the Swiss Alps, where Peter uses Fury’s spy drones on a misguided attempt to humiliate Brad that nearly causes their bus to explode. From there, they go to Prague, where Spider-Man and Mysterio fight the Fire Elemental. They then visit Berlin and the Netherlands before the final battle against the Air Elemental in London.

>Numan Acar is playing Dimitri, one of the mercenaries employed by Fury, who is forced to masquerade as the group’s bus driver when Fury begins re-routing the trip. He is not the Chameleon.

>Ned is divided between his relationship with Betty and being Peter’s tech support, which leads to tensions between him and Peter.

>Peter eventually has a falling-out with Fury and abandons the stealth suit for a new red-and-black suit he designs at Stark’s workshop.

>During the final battle, Happy sets to rescue MJ, Ned, Betty and Flash Thompson, who are trapped in the Tower of London. The kids end up confessing their darkest secrets to each other, believing death to be imminent – Flash buys social media followers and Betty stole a sweater once – and Happy joins in, admitting he is in love with Spider-Man’s aunt.

FUCKING BRAD

>The movie revolves around Peter’s struggle to find his own identity while also trying to honor Iron Man’s legacy. Director Jon Watts described it as a reversal of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. There, Peter wanted to be an adult while everyone treated him like a kid. Now, he wants to enjoy being a kid, while everyone is pushing him to become an adult.

>The ideological clash between Peter’s optimistic worldview and Fury’s morally ambiguous methods is the emotional center of the movie, and the juxtaposition between Peter’s teenage awkwardness and Fury’s smooth world-weariness is the source of much humor.

>The movie’s tone was inspired by the “European vacation” teenage movies of the 1980’s and the addition of the Elementals allowed them to ramp up the action scenes and raise the stakes, which were purposefully kept at a lower profile in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING.

>According to Tom Holland, there is a scene that will make audiences feel as if they have been “punched in the face”. Watts agrees that people will hate the scene, and that’s exactly what they are counting on.

>Producers compared Mysterio to Mordo, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor in 2016’s DOCTOR STRANGE: A villain in the comics reimagined as a friend and mentor to the hero in the movie, but who has a dark side that could lead to unexpected consequences further down the line.

>Mysterio’s suit is a blend of magic and technology that borrows elements from several Avengers, including Iron Man, Thor, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Vision.

>J. Jonah Jameson and the Daily Bugle will not be featured in the movie, but there have been discussions about how to modernize them for the 21st century, where being a newspaper photographer is no longer a viable career for a teenager.

>Vulture, Shocker and Scorpion will not be featured in the movie, and Marvel Studios & Sony Pictures have no plans for the Sinister Six so far.

THE ABSOLUTE STATE OF PETER PARKER

>inspired by comic book characters like Sandman, Hydro-Man and Molten Man.

Why not just use those fucking characters, they are classic spidey villians ,ffs

>pairing up betty with ned

>According to Tom Holland, there is a scene that will make audiences feel as if they have been “punched in the face”. Watts agrees that people will hate the scene,

>we have made so many of these fucking comic book movies we are at the point that we WANT to fans to hate them

great

I don't buy it desu. Where's the conflict? There's no real villain in the movie. Why should I care about the Elementals when according to this they're just big CGI monsters that need to be defeated?

they're counting on audiences being surprised that noted conman and bullshitter mysterio is lying about being a good guy

SUBVERTED

Because the Elementals are just mindless monsters / Mysterio's illusions, and they might have use for the actual characters further down the line.

But it doesn't sound like he's going to turn heel in this one. There's no real villain in the movie, so there's no conflict. I don't like it.

Just like the comics.

the scene that fans will hate will be featuring ironman and capt america

mutants will be mentioned in the end credits scene

I hope Ned does like he did in the comics too

>But it doesn't sound like he's going to turn heel in this one.

Of course he will. It's all misdirection.

*dies

>>J. Jonah Jameson and the Daily Bugle will not be featured in the movie, but there have been discussions about how to modernize them for the 21st century, where being a newspaper photographer is no longer a viable career for a teenager.
Newspapers still exist, don't they?

So Mysterio doesn't turn villain in this movie?

This doesn't exactly tell the whole plot. Seems like the first half and a random detail about the final battle

>They then visit Berlin
Why does Peter keep going back there?

>Marvel Studios & Sony Pictures have no plans for the Sinister Six so far.

As if

Yeah, I don't buy that either.

he will, they're just trying to S U B V E R T your expectations

A bigger subversion would be that he's a legit good guy. Or, at least, not just tricking Peter cause he's a dick.

the subversion is that he's a good guy but he's a huge homo and they have to lock him up for grabbing Peter's underage ass

>According to Tom Holland, there is a scene that will make audiences feel as if they have been “punched in the face”. Watts agrees that people will hate the scene, and that’s exactly what they are counting on.

There is literally nothing nuspiderman could do to make me feel that way. We know he isn't going to die, no one cares about Happy or Aunt May, and no one cares about black MJ. Literally any of them could die and no one would care.

Happy probably dies. They're going to give him a bunch of screen time and try to force him to be Pete's NuDad and he'll die. Big deal.

So no parallel universes and the possible return of tony will be an asspull

Yeah because apparently paparazzi's are no longer a thing anymore.

I can't think of anything Spiderman could do that'd make people hate the movie. Not after Last Jedi or GoT

>implying this wont be the last spider-man mcu movie

Why do they keep doing this? Honestly, If these leaks are true then the movie is going to be disappointing. It's full of stupid decisions that detracts from what people like from a Spider-Man film.

Shills do not know shit about comics, they're like the directors
They only do what they say

>Peter becomes an "and that's a good thing" web pseudo journalist

And that's a good thing

Punch in the face scene is obviously revealing mysterio as the puppet master

Fuck wish fufilment. Fat uglies should either accept it or get /fit/.

It'll be Ricedkino.

So was his entire class held back for 5 years? Did they get SNAPPED? This movie sounds really dumb.
>WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT SPIDER-MAN, KIDS?
>HIS HEROISM LIKE THE TRAIN SCE-
>GOT IT, MORE EMO PETER MOPING AROUND AND RELATIONSHIP HIJINKS

probably Brad telling the truth to MJ and she falls for him leaving Peter heartbroken

Pretty sure they mean something like MJ kissing Brad

Meant to reply to

>happy hogan and aunt may
self inserting fat micro dick motherfucker
