Maleficent was a contender for best Disney villain, until the new feminists at Disney took the timeless, kick ass Self proclaimed Mistress of all evil, and turned her into a misunderstood rape victim. The King is a monster, and the prince can't even wake up the Sleeping Beauty anymore. Only a girl power LGBT kiss can wake up the sleeping beauty.
They turned the King into an irredeemable evil monster that slaps cute little old female fairies in mid air. They even allowed Maleficent to be the bigger person by giving him the chance to stop fighting but of course he was an evil bearded man, and kept trying to kill her. She wasn't even allowed to kill him. He died by his own hand do to not being able to stop being such an evil angry "typical man".
She wasn't even allowed to turn into the large iconic dragon at the end.
The first film wrapped things up well. The bad king was dead. The princess was now queen and she had her prince. Maleficent had her wings back and all was well.

I actually liked the first one, minus the retarded Matrix outfit Maleficent busts out. It felt like the perfect allegory for a divorce. These two figures are just viciously attacking each other with awful shit and paying no mind to the child that gets hurt in the process

I honestly love the first film and have rewatched it several times. It has its flaws but is also highly entertaining. My biggest complaint is that Maleficent was too sympathetic, why is Disney so afraid of having villain protagonists?
Anyway going from the teaser I'm cautiously optimistic, will probably just be decent yet forgettable.
