Episode 5 wouldnt have been bad if 2-4 didnt exist. Nobody would be pissed off that all the balistas missed and 1 dragon soloed kings landing. Thats what you expect when you think dragon and town. Youd still be looking forwards to the badass showdown between the north and the nightking. 2,3,4 ruined the nightking and ruined dragons watching em all go out like bitches.

No contrarians here. This is how GRRM was going to pay off the series. The showrunners just lack the ability to build up to it. Dany was always crazy but kept in check by her handlers. Cersei and Jamie were always going to die together. GRRM painted himself into a corner. That's why it's taken him a decade plus to end the story. Its story writing 101. You have all of your arcs in line beforehand. The build up to the payoff is the difficult part.

Im enjoying this ending, but it feels rushed and out of sequence. QDaenarys and her downfall should have been the full focus of of a ten episode s7. Then have a final ten episode season dealing solely with the white walkers.

I know a lot of shit has happened this season, and I know it kind of bugs people that this happened. But really, isn't the "long night" one of the biggest let downs within all of GoT? Seven seasons, right? Seven fucking seasons of "winter is coming", seven fucking seasons of casually mentioning how bad and long winters can be, seven fucking season of slowly building up the threat of white walkers. seven fucking seasons of showing how unprepared anyone in Westeros was for this looming threat...two or three episodes of preparation, ONE EPISODE of an actual fight with these undead fucks and it's over. And WINTER DIDN'T EVEN COME, like the season didn't even come. It's cold in the North, it's always cold in the north everyone else in Westeros is dressed like they have the rest of the god damned show. It's not even kind of chilly. WHAT THE FUCK?
