That’s even more sad considering the original versions of these characters were complex, well-written, and 3-dimensional. Dragon fire is intensely hot. Magical fire that sticks to things like napalm, can shape stone, can forge magical swords. One thing that it is not, is an explosion.

Dragon's breath was able to breach the walls of King's Landing and the Red Keep with explosive force. One breath and the wall collapses. That is NOT how dragonfire works. Historically, Harrenhal is a good example of this. Harrenhal was attacked by Balerion the Black Dread, a dragon at least twice the size of Drogon, and it still stood after the siege. Everyone inside was trapped in the towers and oven-baked, and the towers suffered heavy structural collapse from the heat, but Harrenhal was still used as a castle for centuries after being torched for hours by the largest dragon ever seen in Westeros.

You can't just knock over a wall with a single touch of dragon fire. Dumb and Dumber have no idea what they're doing any more. I simply can't suspend my disbelief any further. My expectations have not just been subverted, they have been raped, and it was not beautiful.
