agreed

Dirty Egyptian fucking shits

I understand that season 2 was somewhat rushed and knew it would be the end but Did Pullo really think he could just keep Cesarean alive and wander around Time and Caesar wouldn't wonder where this young, learned, dark skinned boy came from? O guess they left rome as there was no way reason to stay but it was never implied

>O guess they left rome as there was no way reason to stay but it was never implied
that's what i assume happened

Imagine if we got multiple seasons of this instead of GOTniggotry.

second season was significantly worse IMO idk if i'd want it to keep going

It was only worse due to imminent cancellation

Did he hesitate

>Caesar wouldn't wonder where this young, learned, dark skinned boy came from
>dark skinned
Caesarion was the son of a Roman (Caesar) and a Greek (Cleopatra). He wouldn't have been especially dark-skinned by Roman standards.

>the son of a Roman (Caesar) and a Greek (Cleopatra)
Or I guess in the show, a Roman (Pullo) and a Greek (Cleopatra). Point still stands though. The kid wouldn't have looked out of place in Rome or really anywhere in the Roman Empire. Him being able to read/write wouldn't have been to crazy, Pullo is a rich/famous man at this point and a close friend of Augustus himself, could have easily afforded some clever slave boy from the east.

at what point did the writers know the show would be cancelled? had they continued the show, what story would they have run with? was there significant turmoil during augustus' reign as emperor?

Its not like Julius Caesar wasn't going to lop off his head anyway.

I believe the original structure was
S2- post-Caesar death focusing on the rise of Octavian and Antony, ends with the formation of the Triumvirate
S3- Focuses on the Triumvirate until Actium
S4- Focuses on Octavian as Augustus until his death
S5- Focuses on Tiberius and Jesus Christ
Or at least thats what I’ve read on other Rome threads

>at what point did the writers know the show would be cancelled?
They new at the beginning of season 2, which is why they re-casted Octavian halfway through and massively compressed the timeline.
>had they continued the show, what story would they have run with?
The original plan was 5 seasons:
S1: Exactly what we got, the end of the republic, Caesar defeating the optimates, the ides of march, etc.
S2: The aftermath of Caesar's death and the rise of the 2nd Triumvirate culminating in Philippi
S3: The reign of the 2nd triumvirate
S4: The Last Civil War of the Republic, Antony vs Augustus
S5: The later reign of Augustus, Teutoberg Forest, a final scene of a 90-year old Pullo committing suicide by a river (which was originally meant to the first scene of the entire season)

maybe not

Caesar likely would have spared him, he had a habit of doing that which really came back to bite him. It was sort of his strategy, appearing generous while also humiliating the honor-bound Roman elites when he was fighting. Cato literally ripped his intestines out with his bare hands to deny Caesar the satisfaction of taking him captive and then "generously" sparing him and sending him back to Italy unharmed.

s2 - liberators war
s3 - triumvirate and build up for antony's war
s4 - antony's war
s5 - jesus

Antony’s War was pretty short, how could they drag a whole season out of it?

iirc heller said season 4 would be set almost entirely in egypt

it was 2 and a half years long. there were also the sicilian and perusine wars after the liberators war and before the final war

>Antony’s War was pretty short, how could they drag a whole season out of it?
Julius Caesar's war and rule lasted just 5 years and they managed to get a full season out of it even while cutting most of it (no mention at all of Caesar's campaign in Spain, his African campaign gets like 20 minutes, etc.) and having no battle scenes at all. The entire Battle of Pharsalus happens offscreen. The last war between Antony and Augustus only took 2 years but they could easily drag that out into a full season.

how would they be able to drag jesus and israel into a show that was centered around the city of rome?

they introduced herod in season 2 and probably would have expanded on roman judea

we could have had 2 seasons of pure marky mark kino adventures... fuck hbo
and fuck augustus

Attached: marky mark.jpg (1920x1080, 136K)

there was a lot of egypt in the show as well. judea would simply be replacing egypt in the final season

How were they able to drag Alexandria and Egypt into at least half of the episodes of a show that was centered around the city of Rome? I do think the jesus thing is a longshot though, it's just too early in the Roman timeline to do an entire season on Christianity.

In an ideal world, there's an ongoing series with a massive budget covering the entire history of the Roman Empire, and Christianity does get the appropriate focus when the time comes.

the egypt story line never really pivoted off of rome and afaik jerusalem wasn't a big a part in the politics of the city of rome

goddamn, that would've been amazing

Does Pullo seem like the guy who wouldn't have kids with some greek slag? Also helps that the kid is his and will look more like him as he gets older

Rome really only needed another full season, ending more or less at the same point it was to be perfect.

... a consul of Rome.

James Purefoy was perfect as Antony

>the son of a Roman father and a Greek mother
>dark skin
>out of place in Rome
What did he mean by this?

now here's a proper waifu

Based and Atiapilled
The ultimate mommy waifu
Incidentally I think she might have made a better Cersei than Lena headey

No way they're the same person.

GoT characters were badly written and the books aren't really that good either. Fuck this hype, it's a mediocre show with a massive budget.
Polly Walker could've made some good money though, but I'm glad she isn't a part of the cancer that is now spreading.

Wtf is this hellraiser?
