Personally I really enjoyed the character of "Euron" in this television show. His character motivation was "I want to fuck the queen" and his character arc was fucking the queen, this is referenced subtly in his final conversation with Jaime when he mentions that he fucked the queen. Dany is pretty much the antithesis of everything GRRM believes in. All her authority comes from the threat of immense violence by the murder machines that she was handed.
Did they really think a conscientious objector in Vietnam, would write a character raining fiery death from above as a triumphant victory?
Did they really think a happy ending would be her sitting on the throne by virtue of burning to death everyone who tries to stop her, and demanding unquestioned and unopposable authority simply because it's not possible to fight her dragons?
