I can’t wait fellow anglobros! I hope we get to see more strong female characters!

How can looking at light kill you?

How soon is the episode torrentable/streamable after airing? I don't have HBO

it says Tuesday, mongo

Where did you get that? Return it to the reactor room at once

Just some spicy light, nothing to worry about

I can't wait for you to tell me where you live since you need to be lynched

Great question. Would anyone care to answer?

Please don't respond to the foreign mentally ill subverter

Well, there are a lot of these reactors generating power around the USSR all the time, and very seldom does anything like this happen … I just don’t want people thinking that RBMKs aren’t safe.

... Now, I have spoken directly to Deputy Secretary Janny.
Janny spoke to Deputy Chief Moderator, Moderator to Central Committee member Admin, and Admin to General Secretary Hiroshimoot.
Now...
Because the Central Committee has the greatest respect for the work of the Kinobyl Executive Committee, they have asked me to brief you on matters as they stand, so...
First, the tripfag... is well under control. And second, because the efforts of the Kinobyl shitposting industry are considered key board secrets, it is important that we ensure that this incident has no adverse consequences...

Attached: wellundercontroll.jpg (1308x802, 73K)

you are all delusional, report to the infirmary

it wasnt discovered until months after the disaster, so not this episode

Wish Granter reveal when?

Comrade, the tripfag is gone.

Is that graphite on the ground?

It's all under control, comrade...
All... under... control...

Can a VVER reactor explode the same way ?
There's literally one 200km from me, should i be scared?

I assume the series ends at the death of Legasov 2 years later so we might see it later in the series.

You're delusional

There are user's raging and spamming enmass. I move for a temporary board closure.

HOW DO I WATCH THIS

is the stuff that happened inside the plant somewhat realistically portrayed? i'm pretty sure most people there died within a few weeks. did they get any statements or stories out at all and did they ever get published by russia/ukraine?

I knew this show was gonna be kino when they used the original dispatch call.

Not that I know of because the VVER is actually good and a properly designed reactor, and therefore far more expensive than the RBMK which is why loads of RBMKs were built in the first place.

They are building a new VVER in Finland, and we have the strictest nuclear safety standards in the world so it should not be inherently unsafe like RBMK is

VVERs are some of the safest reactor designs out there.

Given enough fuckuos and oversight any reactor can meltdown, but the kind of kaboom Chernobyl did would be unimaginable for other designs.

No it's not. There are shitty GoT threads everywhere.

The only danger is that you become immortalized in KINO. Godspeed Comrade!

Why does this shot give me the frightens so bad. I get it, its nuclear fire, but the expressions on the lads faces and the noise it's making is just awful. Horror kino.

He's a tripfaggot but no worse then the people repeating the same quotes or schizos accusing people of being shills for not liking above

fitting that the origin for real life kino and perfect urban exploration and melancholic beauty is portrayed excellently

Attached: 1557646914535.jpg (1088x855, 272K)

Rmbk reactors had numerous inherent flaws such as literally no proper containment structure and a positive void coefficient. To top this off most operators did not even know about these flaws because the design of the reactors was considered a state secret.

I've had worse sunburn desu

Attached: image.jpg (1920x1080, 581K)

It can but it's much more unlikely. The Chernobyl disaster was a perfect storm of idiocy, even having one or two automatic safety features still active and the disaster would have been drastically mitigated

They picked the most depressing country to film the show in.

Attached: suicides-europe.jpg (1260x1260, 344K)

what's his name? I can't remember it.

Attached: cbls.jpg (960x960, 174K)

Reminder that RMBK reactors are still in use, albeit retrofitted after Chernobyl.

There's more tripfags than they're saying. We have waifus here. We have cunnies. I say, we evacuate the board.

>The poor firemen who had first battled the flames on the night of the explosion were dying of radiation syndrome one by one. They had been flown to a specialist radiation hospital in Moscow, called Hospital No. 6
>It’s often stated that radiation has no taste, but the men who absorbed the highest doses at Chernobyl all reported a metallic taste in their mouths immediately upon exposure, so it seems that if the dose is high enough to kill you, you will definitely taste it. While every person’s body reacts slightly differently, the following is a good general indicator of the consequences of extreme doses of radiation.
>Once exposed, nausea and vomiting will begin almost immediately, and within a short space of time your tongue and eyes will swell, followed by the rest of your body. You’ll feel weakened, as if the strength has been drained from you. If you’ve received a high dose of direct exposure - as in this scenario - your skin will blanche dark red within moments, a phenomenon often called nuclear sunburn. An hour or two after exposure, you’ll gain a pounding headache, a fever and diarrhoea, after which you’ll go into shock and pass out.
>After this initial bout of symptoms, there’s often a latent period during which you’ll start to feel like you’re recovering. The nausea will recede, along with some swelling, though other symptoms will remain. This latent period varies in duration from case to case, and of course it depends on the dose, but it can last a few days. It’s cruel because it gives you hope, only to then get much, much worse. The vomiting and diarrhea will return, along with delirium. An unstoppable, excruciating pain seethes through your body, from the skin down to your bones, and you’ll bleed from your nose, mouth and rectum. Your hair will fall out; your skin will tear easily, crack and blister, and then slowly turn black.

Attached: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.jpg (320x240, 23K)

Underrated post

The casting was perfect for Bryukhanov

That's OK, RBMK-type reactors can't explode. They just can't. It's physically impossible.

Why are they red in the face from just looking at the reactor?

*Fortunate Comrade starts playing*

Thanks, champ.

should i stay up until 3am to watch this kino live

>Your bones will rot, forever destroying your ability to create new blood cells. As you near the end, your immune system will completely collapse, your lungs, heart and other internal organs will begin to disintegrate, and you’ll cough them up. Your skin will eventually break down entirely, all but guaranteeing infection. One man from Chernobyl reported that when he stood up his skin slipped down off his leg like a sock. At high doses, radiation will change the very fabric of your DNA, turning you quite literally into a person other than the one you were before. And then you’ll die, in agony.
>The official USSR figures state that 30 men and one female security guard died as a direct consequence of the accident. That list only covers the people who were at the site within the first few hours of the explosion and who quickly died of acute radiation syndrome or burns, and ignores all military personnel who died due to exposure from the clean-up operation, civilians living in the surrounding area, and many others outwith the military who entered the zone shortly after the accident (journalists, doctors etc). Those whose bodies were recovered are buried in welded zinc coffins, to prevent their radioactive remains from contaminating the soil.

What happens there?

Did you guys have that showcase of radioactive blocks in physics class and you use Geiger counter to see how radioactive it is?

Keep hiding tripfag posts, keep building your anti-trannyshill filter! Our faith in Kinobyl Posting will always be rewarded!

Reactor accident? There was no reactor accident.
Glorious soviet Reactor fulfilled 4-year plan in mere seconds, thus proving the superiority of Soviet technology over western capitalist pig-dogs.

The radiation burns your skin

It’s essetially an instant sunburn due to exposure

can't believe gorb is still alive. that guy is a walking museum at this point.

Sunburns are from gamma radiation it's the same thing

Sitnikov

Pretty much. Radiation is nasty shit. Also that one scene of that one fireman collapsing on the ground is actually a reenactment of real footage taken at Chernobyl.

Sitnikov had a hard life

What hot take did they make?

What's the fuss about some female character in the upcoming episode?

Economical shithole, low wages, rampant alcoholism, post soviet depression commieblocks everywhere and on top of that we're number 3 on the list when it comes to producing female models per capita so you know our females are beautiful. It's always over a woman anyway.

>author's social media headshot is her slightly frowning
not great, not terrible

they're both EM radiation but comparing UV to gamma rays is like comparing a ping-pong ball to a bullet

At least she is getting rinsed in the comments.

Attached: 1529803776586.png (1000x1000, 289K)

radioactive particles destroy your cells, it's like burning alive without the fire. DNA gets destroyed, cells can no longer reproduce or they reproduce incorrectly (cancer). it takes a relatively long time (7+ days) for the body to replace its own cells, however some cells cycle much faster than others.

people who have been exposed to radiation always vomit first, because the inner lining of the stomach is very sensitive damage. hair follicles are also very sensitive, causing rapid balding.

other cells can take more damage and repair themselves, but with high enough doses of radiation even those cells will be destroyed which will cause every organ in your body to die. most people just slip into a coma and then die from organ failure.

>Did the residents have no fear of what such a sight might mean? Why are they not running around trying to flee, as we would be?
The lack of self-awareness is astounding. Yes, I'm sure the oppressed civvies in Soviet UUSR-controlled Pripyat just Googled "what does a nuclear explosion" look like on their fucking 80s iPhone while drinking their coffee at their locak fucking Cosco Coffee.

that's not graphite

Attached: 1557405197033.png (377x315, 247K)

Typical Guardian fucktard. Did they try making ham-fisted comparisons to contemporary politics like the WaPo did?

>Did the residents have no fear of what such a sight might mean? Why are they not running around trying to flee, as we would be? I am sure it is something to do with soothing, Communist-era propaganda and a well-trained, incurious mindset, but the writers need to sketch these things in a bit if they want viewers to be involved rather than instantly baffled by their story.
hmm, should i work with what the film is already giving me, and roll with it?
nah, i'll throw my hands up in the air and pout instead

Well, see you tomorrow boys.

First ep was truly great. Can't wait for the second one.

Who did Maester Luwin play/who is Zharkov?

Looks like a piece of cheap concrete to be honest.

What about "The Gaydian" and they're all gay.

Has an RBMK ever failed in standard operation?

>Some reviewers have noted that the series successfully draws parallels to our current society by focusing on the power of information and how dishonest leaders can unintentionally make mistakes beyond their comprehension. One critic hailed the series as a "grim disquisition on the toll of devaluing the truth"; another praised it for showcasing "what happens when lying is standard and authority is abused".

Self-important cocksuckers can't handle being called out a few times.

I find this funnier that a man my age should.

>Those whose bodies were recovered are buried in welded zinc coffins, to prevent their radioactive remains from contaminating the soil.
Bullshit, they welded those coffins shut and buried them so they couldn't get out.

This is horrifying. Best thing to do during that period is get the docs to just save you from the hell to come and put you down.

How safe are PHWR reactors?

Spurdo is literally magic

Attached: 1541689189275.jpg (1016x568, 293K)

Not as safe as RBMK reactors

Only a RBMK reactor has ever exploded. So no one believes you comrade.

Lads explain something to me.

Chernobyl was a town with a nuclear power plant. How can there literally be 0 (zero) geiger counters in town? I mean wouldn't lots of people have a geiger counter? This is mid 80's. The entire city would've known something was wrong when their geiger counters went through the roof.

Did the soviet union forbid people having their own personal geiger counters?

Attached: 1556990934449.png (1054x750, 345K)

Attached: 1557602663461.jpg (480x851, 82K)

You don't need to know citizen, keep to your work and the government will take care of you :)

Name one other town in the world where the general public have geiger counters.

The reactor CANT blow up user.

Dont you believe in socialism? Dont you love Lenin?

Here you go boys. Nova did the best documentary on Chernobyl in 1989, Spoilers obviously.

youtube.com/watch?v=mg1kwoSiIc0

Attached: Clown Statue.png (526x1557, 1.03M)

Why would the population of a soviet town have detectors? What i don't understand is how the NPP only had a few counters and only 1 good one..

Attached: 200.gif (322x200, 1.22M)

Finally a good show and a good thread

that joke is so old it died along with the USSR

Oh god i love this KINO

Iirc they had two very powerful ones, but one was inaccessible and the other broke so all they were left with were the shitty ones that maxed out at 3.6. Also I doubt that the communists decided that the civilian populace needed high quality Geiger counters when the state only had two of them in the city.

are you retarded? do you think soviet citizens had access to geiger counters when they didn't have access to milk?

this is the soviet union user, nothing gets produced unless it was approved by some commissar. you couldn't just walk into your local tech store and buy a Geiger counter. it would have to be made on order by some bureau, at some designated factory, for a specified purpose.

Give me your cummies user. Don't worry, i wont get pregnant because the spermies are already dead..

Attached: 1557698029420.jpg (1910x954, 425K)

Spoiler alert: the Soviet Union forbid its people to have a lot of stuff.

Does anyone know why the "latent period" happens?

CANDU is extremely safe, but also expensive to run.

They did

are your bodies ready?

Can someone who knows about reactors tell me why 14/15 reactors in the UK are AGR? Isn't using graphite to control the rate of reaction significantly more dangerous than other reactors such as PWRs?

Pointless little anecdote, but I grew up about 25 miles away from a nuclear power station with nothing between me and it but open ocean, and the phone book had a specific page near the front set out for instructions of what to do in case of "an emergency." It was never specified what the emergency was but the instructions (stay inside at all costs, do not eat or drink anything that's from outside, if you see anyone outside let them in to shelter) made it pretty obvious.

RBMK REACTORS DONT EXPLODE)))))))

You're talking about soviet russia, legaly getting your hands on geiger would be near impossible

at which point is this spamming?

Attached: 1365265994147.png (1019x881, 1.02M)

how did dyatlov survive? Am I missing something ? wikipedia says he died in 1995

Radiation destroys the cells ability to reproduce and replace themselves.

So once you run out of living cells, you basically melt

Why wouldn't he? The control room was shielded so they got minimal radiation there. He sent others to the high radiation zones to die and never went himself.

This is VERY funny post!

By faking being sick and having that goober Sitnikov go to the roof instead

One is politics, the UK wanted their own reactor design that's neither American or French. And no, it's not more dangerous.

What time GMT does it release?

Presumably by ordering people into the reactor instead of going in on his own.

there would be that one kid

I really hope that they don't give Sweden too much credit for figuring out that a big catastrophe happened. I know that it was in Sweden that some of the first abnormal readings were taken but, like, nobody gives a shit about Sweden, its an irrelevant backwater country and, like, America is the one that took freaking PICTURES from spy satellites of the smoking crater of a nuclear stack for the absolute definitive proof. So America deserves all the credit and its really America that should be celebrated. Im just putting that out there.

>Post Deng China is communist

Distributing geiger counters would have communicated that an unsatisfactory radiation even was possible to begin with, as any precautionary method would have. The State made the reactor, the State is perfect, therefore the reactor is perfect, therefore there is no need for safety precautions.
RBMK reactors can't explode after all. The State said so.
They put people's lives on the line because ensuring their safety would have been politically incorrect.

I've always thought it's more National Socialist myself.

Reminds me of the bridge scene in Blade Runner 2049. Someone really should make one like that.

If there were more nuclear accidents, we'd know. They aren't exactly subtle and things like spikes in thyroid cancer and people's skin falling off are pretty clear indicators.

Not even bones? Did they manage to search the place thoroughly or was it too dangerous for that?

Is this our moment to shine?

You think average Josef and Olga will know how to operate contamination detectors? They need to be sourced everyday and recalibrated every year. And how will they even interpret the results? If I pump air through a filter for an hour you'd shit bricks when you go to check it with your meters if you don't know what you are seeing

cursed image

Been to Crimea lately, comrade? Nice tan

it will be fine you will see

Attached: 01_59_Chernobyl_S01.jpg (1200x800, 99K)

pretty sure this was a picture taken during or after 1998 where the elephants foot wasnt dangerous anymore, very likely just a rando

the giardian

its pretty dangerous still, but it wont instakill you just by being close for a few seconds

Attached: 98429DD8-16C3-4D83-B819-A651AF5AA96F.jpg (1125x565, 136K)

the elephants foot was and is still dangerous; if the guy had spent more than about 2 minutes in that room he would have been dead.

no thats khodemchuk on the right

no, user. the elephant's foot IS hodemchuk ;_;7

I'm honestly more excited for this show than for GoT

Attached: VArJvqd.png (300x360, 48K)

Kino.

Get out of here with that dosimeter

Attached: Stalker Kino.png (1261x670, 942K)

Wałerij Chodemczuk

I'm just gonna say it - hundred times more terrifying than the bear in The Terror. At least the bear kills you quickly in comparison.

anyone got a mega of episode 1?

Attached: Super Shout.jpg (495x490, 49K)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhh

Attached: image.jpg (1160x870, 230K)

WHO IS KHODEMCHUK!?

Dude, every day was a new disaster.
youtu.be/HNJdmG8gUUg
They needed to
>shut down 3rd block
>cool down melted fuel
>pump up water
>turn off electricity
>get miners to make concrete wall under reactor so fuel won't go into the river
>clean roof
>get robots that stuck on the roof
>clean roof manually
>build sarcophagus

How the fuck did she know to stock iodine? Isn't she just a fucking nurse?

Attached: 52525.png (988x727, 774K)

is e02 coming out tomorrow?

also the reactor was real

Tonight

if you're seeing this it's already too late

Attached: 1546373575652.jpg (720x720, 75K)

>radiation literally frying the film
Savage.

You still have to do a shitload of training to be a nurse, user. The blue light would've tipped me off that something was very wrong. Fire/light ain't blue.

his real name is Valeriy Xodemçuq
shes a doctor you tovarish

Do you think she knew it would be kino?

she was a recent graduate and therefore had been taught the recent innovation (the FDA only approved of it in 1982) of dosing iodine to alleviate radiation in the thyroid

> 3.6

love the show but to much of a brainlet to shitpost about it

Attached: 1495335622589.jpg (1065x991, 74K)

She a doctor in a hospital in a city literally built to support the nuclear power plant.

Probably the worst part. Imagine the pain of literally falling apart over three months and none of the cunts will put a shotgun to your head.

This better not be real.

This image is basically a reminder that we're noisy monkeys yanking on a tiger's tail. We thought all our calculations would prepare us to deal with it, but the fact of the matter is that we're completely at its mercy and it has NONE.
The bear could be appeased in theory, but Chernobyl-chan's awake and nothing can stop her.

He's somewhere under the rubble.
Chernobyl personnel started to clear them a few years ago after new contanment was built

> This better not be real.
It's real. The first episode was very accurate by all reports.

Attached: ZHivotnye-CHernobylya-mutanty-foto.jpg (1024x750, 158K)

This fucker tapping into the speedforce or something?

What does a 'NUCLEAR' power point make anyway?

Sounds dumb to me haha

ive seen this before, it is shopped right? ;_;

The foot is slowly consuming his essence.

Attached: 1523621400848.jpg (770x562, 21K)

>it literally shines and radiate yellow light

>wasnt dangerous anymore

Well said comrade

Attached: russian woodpecker.png (146x174, 44K)

hihi

ffs if it's the guy with no feet and no skin it's not fucking Ouchi

Дoвoльнo гoднo пoлyчилocь oднaкo

watch this
youtube.com/watch?v=ITEXGdht3y8

and this
youtube.com/watch?v=njTQaUCk4KY

And you've got a pretty comprehensive idea of the technical and political situation.

its real but the guy was actually perfectly fine (he basically just went in, took the photo, and left) and is still alive

I think it only kills you in 300 seconds now, it was originally 30 seconds when it was first found. Small mercy I guess.

It's cooled off a lot since the original event happened. Still wouldn't want to put your nuts on it but it won't kill you immediately

who is it then?

someone elso

damn, that's wild

also careful with the spoilers user :^)

Just watched the first episode. Damn it's good.
As a Russian born in USSR, i'm surprised how well they captured the aesthetics. The cast is also brilliant.
Can't wait for more.

Go back to school, spic.

in soviets there were alot civil trainings cuz nuclear war predictions.

внимaниe внимaниe lads

If they don't show The Foot in this show, I'll personally walk up to the HBO building with an AK.

Impossible but they can fail in different ways.RBMK was quite unique design as far as power reactor go

>100% real
>100% not radioative

Attached: eating.gif (250x209, 1.98M)

Threadly reminder that Powder Toy is a brilliant simulator for reactors and more.

Attached: pddd.png (1260x875, 147K)

The first slav that is not ass-blasted. Congrats, comrade.

>the expressions on the lads faces
They look fine to me.

Attached: 1537413788179.jpg (600x587, 133K)

The first documentary seems like a more interesting depiction of the events than the show...

>Lithuania
It's from Chernobyl, I swear. Definitely not from the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant.

i know nothing about this game but is there a download for this?

>tfw read curly hair qt's story.

the amount of suffering is off the charts lads

Attached: chernobyl-jessie-buckley-as-lyudmilla-ignatenko-photo-credit-liam-daniel-hbo.jpg (1600x900, 434K)

Yes, and it's free.

What's with all these booty-bother slavs?

This show's mission statement is to extol the courage and heroism of the Soviet people, the workers, the liquidators, the scientists. Why are they so salty about a realistic representation of how heartless and incompetent the Soviet leadership was?
The people were heroic and courageous, even though the gubmint was not. That's a compliment!

Attached: inquisitive grunt.png (702x540, 538K)

Hyi helvetti miten rumia ryssiä.

no as in the RBMK reactor

fuck me she was beautiful in Taboo

im a slavshit and i was kind of put off at first at the lack of comrades, but the show is so well made that i just dont care

>the elephants foot wasnt dangerous anymore

Attached: 1533755274015.jpg (720x720, 170K)

That's because it leaving some stuff out. We'll get to some primo drama once the radiation starts killing people
