Why is everyone so mad at this episode?
There were some faults (my biggest grievance being multiple shots of Jaime running through the crowds and then suddenly teleporting onto the beach - quite a substantial plothole when you think about it), but if we 'accept' all the shit that came beforehand, I think this episode is honestly one of the best of all 8 seasons.
Cleganebowl was a massive letdown, but that was always going to happen. Arya actually listening to the Hound was a nice change of pace.
Her being the sole survivor along with Euron of their respective explosions was again stupid. But comparatively, I could easily suspend my disbelief since it's just not comparable to the usual shit this show pulls.
The constant barrage of King's Landing and the constant murder made it possibly the best battle the show's ever done. Certainly in terms of scale. Battle of the Blackwater will always be my favourite but this comes close.

Continuing on in my game where Aerys blew up King's Landing, Ned died in the NOH NOWY TENDS scene, his son with Ashara Dayne is King in the North but I didn't feel like being in a fucking regency for 20+ years so I switched over to Bobby B. With no King's Landing, I gave independence to all kingdoms and became Storm King, I'm rebuilding King's Landing now but all I'll do is make it a local fort like it was before the Targaryen conquest.
I gave Stannis the Crownlands to manage I'm sure he'll do fine, I just need to find him a wife. I married Cersei because I felt sorry Jaime got blown up and I know she won't cuck Bobby this time around, and an alliance with Tywin is always good.
Lyanna is in exile over in Essos with Aemon Targaryen (Jon Snow) and Arthur Dayne with her.

It sounds like a Disney ending but it's the two main characters literally having to bail on their lives due to their bad decisions, and the dynasty dies with a whimper since she's sterile and he won't fucking anyone else. At least that's what I feel would work in the show, the books are a completely different story.

I don't think we can assume madDany is going to happen in the books in the same way any more than Stannis burning Shireen will happen because of 20 good men.
