Most importantly, they ran out of book material.

D&D (the directors) as shit as they are at writing original content, actually did a pretty good job of adapting already existing material.

Not only did D&D not have time to make sure everything was internally consistent, they majorly changed the format of the show.

GRRM was about cause and effect. He set up who exactly characters are, and just let the cards fall where they should, while sprucing it up a bit to be exciting.

Meanwhile D&D turned things around to exclusively focus on "WTF moments".

Characters became caricatures of themselves because D&D didn't really get them, or didn't have the time or creativity or something. Most obviously perhaps: Tyrion. He went from clever dwarf to "haha dick jokes" and a bumbling fool. It would have been fine if his fuck ups were all subtle / performed by another master strategist, but there was nothing like that.

Obviously its never getting remade. The thought of the writers seeing it and realizing how much people hate them makes me feel better though

I think if all the stars in the cosmos do align and HBO decides to remake seasons 5 ~ 8, no one would complain, and will probably throw more money at them. Kinda sad.

they ran out of book material. it seems like they either have basic plot pointers from grrm, or nothing at all. as a result, the plot got more and more harebrained, and more and more dumb and inexplicable shit started happening. characters arcs got completely ruined and everything just sucks

That’s where you’re wrong. After s4 it went fully off rails and the quality nosedived as they went off the books. The butchering of dorne wasn’t so bad considering what we’ve been given but god damn. A lot of characters are hurting from various plots being cut, such as Varys missing young griff. Shits fucked

Only if it was your first Berserk experience could I see anyone enjoying it. I remember reading reviews and you had Group A, the manga readers, on one side trashing the show something awful, then Group B, the normies, who either only watched the anime or this was their only exposure to Berserk loving it and they were kinda perplexed why group A hated it so much.

The story is good because it follows the source material. People just hate the animation because it's bad/cheap and mostly CGI.

Yeah, but they could have at least made it serviceable, like Attack on Titan level. It wouldn't have been perfect, but it would have been markedly better than what we got. I see SFM porn all the time with better animation.
