I didn't really care for this show lately but this episode really solidified it for me. It's actually pretty cool. The end-boss level of Kings Landing falling apart; the tie ups of Jaime, Cersei, Hound, Mountain, Euron. The parallels between the first Seige of KL with the Mad King and now the Burning of KL with the Mad Queen. The last episode has been set up nicely.

Sure, the show could've been written a million different ways. The WW could've been the final boss; Cersei could've had an ace up her sleeve; Gendry could've been relevant as a King; Bran's powers could've been elaborated on; the Azor Ahai prophecy could've been written in. None of that happened but I still think what we got ain't bad. Normally I just shit on movies and TV but this I watched with friends and genuinely found things to enjoy.

This was the worst part of the episode. The army defending King's Landing did fuck all and was entirely useless. One volley from the Red Keep's scorpions plus the Iron Fleet's would have fucked up the dragon so quickly. And the whole Golden Company bullshit? What was even the point. Very unimpressive. I honestly quite liked her just burning everything, raiding the city, citizens were targets up untill after WW2. People don't always make the most rational choice and I find it totally plausible she'd just be like "Fuck everyone and everything and fuck kings Landing and fuck you, raze this city to the grounds". Maybe targs have a racial which makes them go berserk when angry.

Also her coming up behind the clouds and diving in with the sun behind her back makes sense (dragon flies high -> dragon becomes a dot if you're on the ground > dive with the sun behind your back > by the time you're big enough to see you've gained a massive amount of speed by falling ). The fact that all those punny arrows miss also make sense

They literalky tell you in episode 4 roughly how many are left. During the battle of winterfell you literally see quite a few dothraki retreating. So its reasonable to believe even more retreated off camera. Most of the army other than the unsullied arrive from land. Lastly its probably easy to overtake a city, even tired, if you have a fucking dragon destroying everything in its path. Dany literally did most of the work with her dragon.

The show can still be saved. After Jon kills Dany he gets backstabbed by Arya which turns out to be littlefinger wearing her face.
