I've been of the opinion for a while now that everything that's happened in the show for the past 2 or 3 seasons has been good, but executed terribly. Daenerys becoming the show's ultimate antagonist is a good end for her character arc and the show. However, the depiction of that transition has been so poor that a large segment of the audience were left wondering "where did that come from?", despite the evidence for it always being there. This is a problem with the whole show at this point, everything makes sense if you really think about it and fill in the gaps yourself, but watching the show you just feel confused, because so much is happening in such a condensed time-frame without being set up properly.

You can really tell that GRRM just gave the writers a list of major plot points and left it up to them to flesh it out, which they completely fucked up because they're not writers they're tv producers.

Why did the Mountain disobey Cersei? They played it off as if he was so hell-bent on killing Sandor that his humanity shone through in that moment, allowing him to make a decision for himself rather than follow orders like the zombie he is. Except the narrative never really gave Gregor a reason to hate Sandor. Sandor has a reason to hate Gregor, but this has never been a sibling rivalry fueled by mutual hate. I don't get it.

this episode and the one before were both not bad, its the long night that I think really trivialized the WW threat and had some questionable story decisions. plus a ton of cuts every time characters were in danger.

Episode would’ve been better if Drogon ripped Euron to pieces in a gory version of the witch kings mount thrashing theoden around and then it’s left open ended if Jaime and Cersei get out in time (like them running down a tunnel with rubble falling behind them and a light in the distance) that’s my only gripe.
