Turns out that it's actually crazy difficult to hit a fast-moving target with medieval siege weapons

Motivation to burn an entire civilization must be one hell of a drug

dragons are hard to kill except when they aren't although actually they still are

He just got lucky the first time

>gets caught off guard last episode
>this episode catches everyone else off guard
This is the only ass pull i can think of. But desu last episode her dragon getting btfo by scorpions was horse shit. This episode portrayed how a fight with a dragon should actually go down (according to the books)

Got inside their decision cycle.

Attached: GS AP.jpg (3200x1680, 461K)

they couldve just had her go up high in the sky and dive bomb into the center of KL and then take out the scorpions from there.

And reload giant spears with crank wheels in mere seconds, like last week. Fuck this show

kek

Also remember that dragonfire burns hotter than anything else in existence and can kill anything except when it doesn't for some reason that is glossed over to fit the narrative

They made it laughably easy to hit the other dragons with similar weapons. The NK ep was him being a bad ass, so we suspended belief, only for him to be killed by a 15 yo girl.

>people complain that Euron is OP
>immediately start complaining the week after that Euron is too weak
there's no pleasing anyone, is there, you guys don't know what the hell you want

it's almost as if people want consistency

I wanted a character with more motivation than "I wanna fuck the queen m8"

because its not consistent

>you guys don't know what the hell you want
we want good writing, your criticism is a brain dead egotistical attempt to make yourself look better than everyone

Still doesn't explain why Dany's plan was a solo frontal assault against an army of the only weapon that can kill a dragon after having already lost two dragons to random projectile spears.

>show with magic and dragons
>lol this isn't consistent

The other dragon had a bad wing, didn't have a rider, and was caught off guard.

I didn't know euron was firing magic bolts.

Then why didn't dary burn the entire fucking fleet then and their and save her fucking friend???

>attacking during the day and not at night when there is a new moon.

Attached: but why 05d759ca145065466029143459_700wa_0.gif (581x327, 1.76M)

were your expectations not subverted?

Attached: entertained.jpg (970x546, 71K)

Retarded logic. Jesus christ.

you can have magic and have set ground rules to its limitations.

Rhaegal was able to be killed because he was flying in a straight line, was wounded.

Meanwhile, Drogon this episode was unharmed, ANGRY, Using the sun to their advantage to blind the marksmen, changing angle of attacks so they keep having to realign their shots, and then moving out of range making them miss, getting behind them because these things are on cranks and are difficult to turn, once you get past their initial line you can annihilate them from the side or the back and they don't have a shot at all.

It's like trying to shoot down F-15 Tomcat with Ballista.

plot armour

>didn't have a rider
what is this pokemon where they need a trainer to teach them? if anything, he should be lighter and faster without any load

>and was caught off guard
Fucking how

fucking hell I hope this is bait

>changing angle of attacks so they keep having to realign their shots, and then moving out of range making them miss, getting behind them because these things are on cranks and are difficult to turn, once you get past their initial line you can annihilate them from the side or the back and they don't have a shot at all
yeah this was also the scenario last week

>The queen wants to attack at sunrise, at the earliest
The rising sun was at her back as she approached the fleet from the East. They couldn't see the dragon clearly enough to fire as accurate and by now Drogon has had practice dodging projectiles.

>lmao, it's fantasy. Why have a wall? Just defy gravity and fly over it.

The weapons crews decided to fire that day

Then why did Rhaegal die so easily? The problem isn't that it was hard to kill Drogon, by itself, it's that it was inconsistent.

how the FUCK do the writers of this show thinks fire works? why does it explode stones?

kys retard

She remembered well this time

>he rising sun was at her back as she approached the fleet from the East.

she flies in circles the entire time not from one angle also they would have had to show this visually they didn't

>by now Drogon has had practice dodging projectiles.

fucking when, two maybe three times = never can be hit again by 100s of scorpions?

He got better lol.

Even cannons in US civil war era were terrible, this is why General Grant was able to order the gun boats to go down the Mississippi in that mission, he knew the opposing cannons were mostly shit unless fired en-mass, and would mostly not be able hit the supply boats

Dodge what? They barely fired at him at all. It's like the guards had taken a bunch of Xanax and their scorpions had an auto-reload mechanism malfunction.

Dragon have infinite fuel in their lungs, they have unlimited ammo

So. Much. This.

>F-15
>Tomcat

They cancelled Rome for this garbage, pretty fucking insane.

>Meanwhile, Drogon this episode was unharmed, ANGRY, Using the sun to their advantage to blind the marksmen, changing angle of attacks so they keep having to realign their shots, and then moving out of range making them miss, getting behind them because these things are on cranks and are difficult to turn, once you get past their initial line you can annihilate them from the side or the back and they don't have a shot at all.

u made this up almost none of this is shown

Yet it took time for NK's dragon to load up in the big battle, after seemingly having neverending blue flame destroying the wall. It's all so tiresome.

>Not using a picture of Col. Boyd
trash

And it became the most popular television series of all time. Just goes to show that we don't deserve shows like Rome. This? This is what we deserve. Trash shows for trash people.

Well, they only fired like two or three at her this time.

Intelligence has dropped a good 5 points in the US alone during that time. Deadwood only made it 2 years.

>all scorpions are facing forward
>Let's assume scorpions have a range of motion is 120°, because of fucking course, they can't rotate over themself 360°
>Fly the dragon over the clouds for cover
>Dive past the scorpions lines
>Rekt them from behind.

Goddamnit Yea Forums, I had higher steem of you. You can't be this much of a brainlet.
Don't you know history? Don't you know who Gustav Adolf was? This is a trick old as fuck

>Let's assume scorpions have a range of motion is 120°, because of fucking course, they can't rotate over themself 360°

Low quality bait and people still fell for it. What has 4reddit come to ?

Why did Euron and the troops yell "Fire" when the weapon does not require combustion of gunpowder? Really makes you think.

You're not wrong, just wanted to point out that Deadwood was never cancelled. That was the showrunner's arrogance. He dropped it and went off to make John From Cincinnati.

>Euron was warning his people of the coming fire from the dragon

You're not wrong. But again, it's all about consistency. The iron fleet killed her other dragon with like 100% accuracy -- it was complete horseshit.

It would've made a lot more sense for Drogon to attack the walls at night to get rid of the ballistas. It's not like a dragon is exceptionally loud or anything, like an airplane.

Stormin' Norman posting is pretty kino.

>>Let's assume scorpions have a range of motion is 120°, because of fucking course, they can't rotate over themself 360°

they absolutely did in the show

Archers being told to "fire" as opposed to "loose" triggers my tism something fierce.

Well I didn't recall that, in that case it is shit and has no sense.
What I don't know I how anybody's really asking the important questions.
How is it possible for a fire breath to completely rekt a solid brick outer wall? It blew my mind.

It must be nice to be this simple

Because Rhaegal was unaware of the spear coming his way? Looked like he was just flying peacefully in the sky and and guy who hit him was a special character (Euron) so it is expected for him to land a critical.

She had sex and got a clue

Well to be fair to that guy, they did try to show that the sun was blinding Euron a bit, but it was done very clumsily and it barely even registered. Drogon also kind of had the advantage of surprise this time. Doesn't account for why the scorpions couldn't turn on a dime, have precise aim and fire ten bolts per second like they did the last time we saw them in use though.

Except she could have done that exact same thing with Drogon in ep 4 you moron.

The only reason she could do it now but not before was simply because of plot advancement, like everything else in this stupid show

>never read the books

Just stop

Are we pretendig that's what happened?

Lol just stop

>Well to be fair to that guy, they did try to show that the sun was blinding Euron a bit, but it was done very clumsily and it barely even registered.

yeah one guy one time. they needed shots of people on the wall being blinded and drogon taking angles to use the sun to his advantage.

>Drogon also kind of had the advantage of surprise this time

for like 2 seconds. the entire army showed up before him, all the scorpions are manned, they just caught a portion of the iron fleet off guard

some with autism needs to be on these shows to stop these obvious plot errors

fire destroying an wall made ice: okay
fire detroying several layers of stone work, carefully crafted over millenia, by a dinasty that had dragons themselves: not okay.

this nuke-like destruction was bs.
burn all of the civvies, destroy the wooden slum houses, maybe even the richer districts the blazing fires that will eventually consume it over the course of the day, but crumbling a tower like it was made of wet sand wasn't okay

>le magic and dragons XD
Let's say Daenerys Targaryen has just finished destroying King's Landing with 40,000 Dothraki Screamers and Unsullied at her back. You've seen them all get wiped out at Winterfell, but it doesn't matter. She started with 8000 Unsullied six seasons ago, where did she get ten thousand more? You tell everyone it's fantasy, it doesn't matter. A wise move. Only a fool would try to make sense of D&D's writing at this point. You're content with this defense.

As Daenerys walks up to a podium in front of her army, celebrating her victory, a fist sized hole is suddenly blown through her chest. We cut to Jon Snow, on the other side of the ruined city, as he takes his face away from a Barret .50 Anti-Material Rifle. He hands the smoking firearm to Qyburn, who has a cheap bandage around his head. "I never wanted this," Jon says. "Your Grace," says Qyburn as he nods and smirks directly at the camera.

How long do you people of Burlington Bar stand behind their absentee QA team, these hack writers?

Attached: gods ned.jpg (1280x720, 101K)

lol, d&d realized the rail guns were too OP and nerfed them in the last patch

Attached: 1557334218505.png (621x740, 597K)

What is line of sight, moron. Imagine defending literal drivel.

Same way the entire fleet missed Dany on Drogon twice from near point blank range after nailing Rhaegal with 3 impossible hits in-a-row from a mile off all while behind a cliff last episode, Dany's plot armor extends to any Dragon she's currently riding.

didn't she get ALL of the dothraki after she went full murder hobo on the dothraki widows/elders?

>We cut to Jon Snow, on the other side of the ruined city, as he takes his face away from a Barret .50 Anti-Material Rifle.
Kept you waiting huh?

Personally, I would have let them get away with this if they said that a dragon without a rider is more vulnerable, less aware, etc whatever. And that a dragonrider is important because the bond helps the dragon somehow ykwim. A bit like in Eragon if you are familiar

if the dragon's can destroy stone so efffortlessly then how come Jon wasn't kill when he spent the entire night king episode hiding behind a noticeably flimsy ALLEYWAY wall to PROTECT himself and dodge from the dragon's fire?

Attached: sE1VxNK.gif (500x671, 730K)

Based and OODA pilled

Another for the battle which I agree with this user.In the first fight they came in hot, screaming and making a fuss. Naturally for intimidation tactics. She came in stealthily for this second time. And I think the dragon only shouted after he destroyed all of the scropions, including those on hte back walls, facing the sieging army

she waited until sunrise and came in with the sun at her back

both times she lost a dragon, they got caught off guard and didnt realize they were in danger until they were already mortally wounded

then the night king/euron tried the same thing against drogon, but he was ready for it and evaded

drogon is the alpha and was already established to be good at evasive maneuvering

>Lol just stop.
Well i'm convinced. Good argument.

>cant see target because its flying in front of the sun
>dont just tell your marksmen to aim at the sun

You're giving this more thought than anyone involved in its production have

hm.. okay then please adress this one

it was a controlled demolition, Qyburn was behind it all. He died on a contigency he never predicted, But everything else went exactly according to plan.

She was insistent about attacking at a certain time of day, it was with the sun at her back to blind the ballista operators.

Dabid, you just have to a logical reason to something that happens that's all we ask.
Dragon armor would have been good for example, or maybe have her strictly attacking from above and fleeing quickly on low elevation(so the hundred fucking scorpions won't be able to hit her)

>also they would have had to show this visually they didn't
They blatantly did, I can't believe people here are so stupid they didn't blatantly see Drogon peering out from the sun as Euron looked up. Not to mention the order to attack at dawn while she attacks from the East. He even puts his fucking arm up to try to block out the sun

To be fair they were defending the castle. Why would you rush out to die? I feel like the golden company was a massive waste in the show. Could've been a cool anti unsullied or something. Have them surrender instead of lannister men

>space ships out in groups
>aim some roughly above each other
>dragon has to enter sightline

she still going to kill the queen, next episode. Dany is her destiny.

Did you watch the long night?
Fucking hell

>Also have our scorpions only cover one direction, let's say... north? Yeah, sounds good, that's probably where she'll be coming from. Don't cover all directions, that way if comes from an unexpected direction(south maybe?), we all have to take a really long time to turn them very slowly.

Early onset dragon blindness, it’s forshadowed in the books.

How was Rhaegal supposed to see the ships without a rider, dumbass?

Attached: D3wO0lMUcAA1llN.jpg (850x570, 54K)

because that dragon was using frozen breath
it just made the alleyway stronger because it frozen it
user please

fags trying to justify this is hilarious. even if rhaegal was caught off guard, knowingly flying into dozens of ships that absolutely have the potential to 1 shot you and your shitty dragon is completely retarded and is a horrible strategy. but i guess it's just because she's CCRAAAAZZZZYYY bro.

It would have made so much more sense to not have Dany and Drogon there. Just have it be Rhaegal hunting for food. it explains how the drogons sustain themselves. Dany trusts that they will not die by themselves, thinking her children have grown up and are self sufficient. It shows the audience that they kept in mind some amount of logistics. It shows that Dany is too hasty, and makes mistakes. It shows that Rhaegal is basically just an animal, NOT A CHARACTER. Like a fucking cat, they don't understand what human stuff is.

Rhaegal sees the ships, but doesn't understand the danger. He doesn't know what they are, and he for sure doesn't know what scorpion is. Most animals don't know what a fucking gun is, even if they've seen it a billion times. They don't compute this shit.

Then Euron kills the dragon, easy. Dany doesn't know this until it's too late, and learns of the tragedy. We see her reaction there, she realizes her mistake, blames herself, finds resolve in it, etc. Character development. We don't need the characters to be at every fucking event. That's what makes the world feel larger. FUCK.

She employed the German fighter tactic of attacking out of the sun.

Thank the gods for OODA and her loop

The power of autism and cuteness
Mmhmm

played some Ace Combat 7

You mean US?

or not killed him last episode and had him at the attack of kings landing. when the bells ring and they are surrendering, have him shot and the people of kings landing cheer as he drops from the sky, then have dany go Dresden on their arse.

Attached: dsfdfddsfdfd.jpg (1279x718, 197K)

Because when Rhaegal was hit they were flying slow on a predictable path. Even after the first strike they didn't change course.

Mix that shit up with rapid maneuvering and it becomes a different matter.

Their extremely proficient and professional fire control observers weren't at their stations.

People act like the scorpions were on motorized fucking wheels to turn fast enough.

She got in close when they were not prepared and if they missed their first shot they were fucked with reloading and the time to move the scorpion into a position to fire its GG.

The real question is why didn't cersei just obliterate the dragon and breaker of chains Bitch last episode. She would 100% still be in power if she just gave the word last episode

The patch notes hit, ballista were nerfed heavily this week.

Dragons are solar powered you fucking retard!

I think we were suppose to assume they weren't in range of the ballistas. They also set up camp clearly within range of the walls this episode but that was also totally ignored.

Assuming that's true it's still as retarded as putting trebuchets at the front. If you only have 120° of coverage, then it's unwise to have your entire fleet facing the same direction.

That would have actually been kino and a more fighting night battle than Winterfel.

not the guy that posted that but he's fucking right, you can see as soon as Euron notices Drogon he's having to look directly into the sun which effectively blinds them for a moment.

And wtf are you on, Dany & Drogon were changing direction over and over so the ballistas couldn't get a shot, they even had dialogue from the guys operating them to swing them round and shit.

Not to mention that Euron did not have the element of surprise this time round and Drogon is flying fast as fuck.

It's safe to say that the entire Euron plot was pointless right? Like he got tacked on last season and was supposed to supply cersei with this great fleet. We saw a total of 5 seconds of his iron fleet and then were later told that it was all on fire. Same thing with the golden company. Just built up a be tossed aside immediately

They could have just let rhaegal die in ep3. Everyone assumed he was dead anyway until they showed the ep4 teaser.

Keeping him alive allowed them to use him to remind the audience of the scorpions, but that turned out to be pointless because the scorpions did fuck all in ep5. Nevermind that there are plenty of way to remind the viewer of the scorpion threat without needing to kill a dragon.

Yes, which is why his arc ended in a pointless fight with a man who his only possible beef with was that they had both fucked Cersi at one point.

One dimensional character. The actor overplayed it, I even liked him in R.

She did it last time too, she just didn’t press the attack. The othe dragon did not

THEN HOW COME HE DESTROYED A HUGE ASS ICE WALL INSTEAD OF MAKING IT STRONGER.

it would actually be based as fuck is the night went up to the wall, used the zomber dragon ice breath and made it stronger than originally. then went "oh, fug".

Why not have Rhaegal's death be from just some random lucky scorpion shot in this episode and have that be what sets Dany off on her tyrannical murderous killing spree?

In the heat of the moment people do all sorts of shit they regret later.

Let's also say that particular Scorpion that got the lucky shot was in the middle of a crowd of innocents trying to escape and she had been avoiding those ones up until this point, but now that her second Dragon got killed she has no more reservations and is determined to take them out whatever the human cost.

Used cloud cover to get close and then glided low to the sea.

>Rhaegal was able to be killed because he was flying in a straight line
What? He was flying perpendicular from their position and they just took a huge banking turn. The bolt took him after executing that turn from what was seemingly a fucking mile off while on a boat, that was presumably rocking on the water of an inlet while that fleet was behind a fucking cliff. And they not only hit this moving target once, they hit this moving target three times in a fucking row correcting for wind speed, projectile drop, leading the dragon just enough to hit it while it was at full speed, readjusting for it's new speed and trajectory after the first shot landed, and then again readjusting for the third to take him in the neck. These were three one-in-a-million shots in a fucking row. There is no logical way to defend this shit.

>flew directly from the sun to blind the spotters

The nerd in me would contend the idea of a zombie dragon using ice breath instead of poison, but anyway, would be a better outcome than this shitty clusterfuck we've all been witnessing.

I'm so glad none of you faggots actually write for this show.

...this week.

Underrated

>To be fair they were defending the castle.
Why are they right out of the walls then
>Why would you rush out to die?
Why did they?

Dude, these people need things spoon fed to them. These kinds of people expect the writers to wipe their ass for them after they shit.

She installed a turbo and All Wing Drive system

Explain why they could hit Rhaegal three times in episode 4 but they couldn't hit Drogon in episode 4 despite being a much easier target?

Drogon flies directly at them, a lined up straight shot and the entire fleet misses, then Dany turns around after getting within spitting distance of the fleet and flies in a straight line during her retreat and they all launch a second volley and miss again.

One was flying in a straight horizontal path, the other was diving under sunlight. What I'm saying is that they couldn't hit Drogon because of gravity

It comes from the punch dimension.

If this is trying to imply some kind of intentional plagiarism, whoever made this is retarded. If this is just pointing out the similarity between them, then why not do it for every shot reverse shot ever, but also whoever made this is retarded.
Either way, whoever made this is retarded.

>Don't attack at night
