in the books, the area around Minas Tirith is filled with farms and villages
I don't know why they made it into an arid shithole in the movie
Probably not much, because Minas Tirith is just a fort when the actual capital Osgiliath fell. So at best they raise animals and have gardens for fruit/vegetables on the layers.
Bread, the very foundation of civilization. Thats why africans never invented it. They just ate grass and dirt cookies
No, I think its impossible to run a UBI system without a higher income tax then Denethor was willing to levy on his subjects.
>in the movie
Saved cgi budget for the armies.
Makes it more prominent and memorable for ADD theatergores.

ethiopians have a yeastless bread that they make as a base for their stews and mushy stuff, it tastes like shit
Too costly and too many details.
The same reason Sauron's army stood around on the fields in big blocks instead of occupying trenches and siege-lines.
Isn’t that basically just pasta?
I pictured the city being way bigger reading the books
sort of, it's very flat but doughy, not sure how they make it. It's just a bit damp and sour, not very good.

the pelennor fields were the lowest level of minas tirith, surrounded by a great wall, and formed their faimland. Presumptively this wall was breached before the siege (maybe at the same timeframe osgiliath fell), and the lands between fell.
Doubtless in the film, the fields are kept empty to make the magnitude of the battles more impressive.
i like that stuff, its just a sourdough in flatbread form.
