This is the only way Hollywod would greenlight a film like this today.
The problem is that they thought at the time this was a very radical progressive message at the time, but today it is very clear that Chuck Palahniuk's book is as reactionary as its author. The same film today would be interpreted by critics as some sort of patriarchical movie that empowers disenfranchised white men and right-wing extremism as well as promoting violence to women while scapegoating the "banker class".
