End of the film will be Sonic goign to some tower to make a portal back to his home world of Moebius. Robotnik will be sucked in as well, and it'll result in the sequel being a more standard Sonic film (which is what it should have been to begin with).

I don't know, that's just how it looks. Based on past live-action films based on animated or video game properties, they are all focused on human characters on Earth. Transformers, Smurfs, etc. So that's likely a demand by the producers and execs.
