The fries had been reheated and were only shadows of their former characters dropped into the bag to pad out the meal. It was washed down by a gulp of nostalgia momentarily killing the taste of the artificial filling. Now you dont even regret it, it is simply forgotten in your memory so unsubstantial it was, so meagre, a false feast, ephemeral, gone.

The real problem with Saul is that it is solely dependant on being a lead-up to the events of Breaking Bad. Without that context, nothing makes sense and the viewer is given nothing to care about. This is proven by the need for the black and white scenes at the start of each season. I'm glad Vinceyboy was confident enough to admit this glaring flaw with the series immediately.
