I remember turning on a hotel TV one early morning on a trip. Steven Universe was on and I thought "oh boy, this must've been one of the shows that didn't make the cut," and changed the channel.

Genndy is a full on style over substance director who's good at cinematography and action scenes but otherwise writes generic cartoons.

Regular Show is hilarious when it works, but the whole premise is a gimmick that can only last for so long.

That's the exact asspull faggotry I expected from an SUfag. Everything "kino" it's stolen from various anime and, unlike the anime it's openly plagiarized, had no fucking clue what to do with the imagery.

It has a really good overall sense of pacing and character growth.
The show has a really interesting way it scales it's world and lore where it will set a very strict yet comfortable status quo that the viewer gets used to, only to absolutely shatter that status quo with a reveal that makes you completely reconsider everything you know about the world or characters. It then builds up that new status quo only to shatter it again a season later. It really is kinda hard to explain if you haven't seen it before, but it makes the show really enjoyable

What you described was done better in 1979, using characters I actually gave a shit about from the start.
Literally nothing I haven't seen before in various shows, animated and otherwise, done more effectively.

Mobile Suit Gundam changes its conflict focus from episode to episode. Shit steadily gets more fucked as it goes, going to a slow progressive status quo before flipping it on its head by the credits.
