In an RBMK, a single mistake can be deadly.

Standard reactors will meltdown if you lose the main coolant loop.
RBMKs become unstable at low power and will literally fizzle when you SCRAM them
+ the control rods take more than 10 seconds to go down, while in the west the servos are just disconnected and the rods fall down in less than 2 seconds under their own gravity.

How are those reactors safe if their use has to be limited in order to keep them stable ?
