I can't understand why anyone thinks "soulless" is a criticism that means anything at all.
Most anime isn't made for the mass market, and the benefits of digital were so overwhelming that there was no way anyone was going to stick to cel animation. Even live action has taken up digital cameras.

Digital animation allows studios to pit in way less effort and end up with a result that is good enough for plebs to praise. Look at something like Overlord or Goblin Slayer. They were based off of something that their studios knew would sell so they put in the minimum amount of effort and they both look like shit

Studios have time and resource constraints and I could point to any number of digital shows that had huge amounts of effort put into them. Corners were cut before digital too, which is why TV anime didn't look like Ghibli.
