What hapenned to the /lbg/ threads with the autists who only discussed silent films? And that one guy, Griffithfag? I don't come on here often but I don't see those threads around anymore :(
Kinda miss the letterboxd threads. Letterboxd thread anyone?
I don't watch films anywhere as seriously as I used to, but I find myself enjoying them more desu, because I used to stuff a lot of old pretentious shit down my throat thinking it would make me a more interesting person. So a lot of my recent watches are stuff that genuinely catches my eye, or what I'm watching with the gf.
Anyone seen Peter Greenaways the falls tho? Also looking for general reccs
>Whisper of the Heart based, the only reason it's not on my four favorites is because letterboxd only lets you have four and A Silent Voice only slightly edges it out as my favorite anime film
Cooper Long
Oh nice man. Yeah, it and porco rosso are my favourite ghibli movies. And yeah, I'll have to check out a silent voice. I want to finish my satoshi kun filmography too...
How was an elephant sitting still? I really wanted to see that one. Sounded like pure kino, absolute shame the director killed himself though :(
Jack Taylor
How do you exist with a watchlist that long?
Bentley Lee
>How was An Elephant Sitting Still? unironically one of the best movies I've ever seen, just like Seven Samurai and Gone with the Wind it doesn't feel like a drag despite the length >How do you exist with a watchlist that long? what did you mean by this?
Kevin Brooks
If it's a list of stuff you want to watch, but it's so long it will take decades to get through it if you focused on just it. It becomes a mess to actually find something decent to watch. I find it hard to understand someone who has something that extensively large for a desired backlog.
Isaac Cox
well didn't Adam Cook have over 10,000 films logged? and PUNQ is close to 25,000
as far as choosing what to watch next in the immediate future, I usually do director marathons or pick a genre/decade and sort by highest rated
It's a bit different if you've actually watched them because then that's just a record of what's come. Although not really going to comment on legitimacy of people's lists because that's a whole other can of worms.
Mostly I just find it a bit limiting to have a watchlist so long because then you've basically picked what you want to do for years instead of just going with the flow. And if you just go with the flow then it's basically mindlessly following other's opinions on what you should watch without the intent to follow through. Essentially defeats the purpose of keeping a list like that if you're not going to follow it and being so big almost demands you ignore it.
It's a bit stranger to me too given you've got nearly 2k movies logged so you're not just casually getting into things anymore. You've seen enough to start getting a grasp on what you probably do want to watch and don't need to queue up so many intended viewings.
Nolan Perez
my watchlist is just a list of things I wouldn't mind watching, not stuff I absolutely have to watch; it's a good place to file away things that look interesting but that I don't have any immediate way of seeing, just so that I don't forget they exist have watched almost 8,000 movies, have about 600 in my watchlist
Dominic King
That's what I figure a watchlist is best for. But when you creep up into thousands of movies the reminders get lost in the mass of titles and it stops working so well. Kind of becomes a graveyard of intentions.
Jack Sanchez
letterboxd should have a tastemeter like last.fm
Leo Walker
Your rating distribution is entirely fucked You basically just love anything you watch, is that right?
Levi Wilson
bastemeter > tastemeter
Benjamin Lopez
Showgirls looks ruddy fantastic in HD. A very fun and energetic film, too. The LB ratings for that movie are all over the place.
I've got so many HD films and TV shows on my HDD ready to be watched. Feels good.
>give *ndgame half a star (didn't watch it btw) >be checking out the ratings of another user in order from my highest rated movies >*ndshit is in the wrong place? >take a look >it suddenly has 4 stars At first I thought I made some mistake but I realized that's impossible. Did Disney alter my review?
Just finished Tokyo Story. Is it true? That once you pass a certain age you stop giving a shit whether your parents live or die? Even the father didn't seem to care much at all.
yeah and what the fuck is with all the inuit films?
Charles Rodriguez
ah-bloo-bloo
Jace Foster
Always surprised how slow and buggy the site itself is but hey at least the fucking pronouns can be changed
Daniel Foster
letterboxd.com/Bexd/ >Roman Holiday was so disappointing after all the nice things I heard about it yeah, i liked it, but i can totally understand that, and i don't think i would've liked it as much if it had a different ending. check out it happened one night if you haven't. it has a similar story but it's a lot more fun. i think the children's hour is the better hepburn/wyler film though
>why is perfect blue only 2 stars? also why would you rewatch a movie that you think is 2 stars
I liked it less and less the more it delved into the hallucination aspects. It just felt muddled and confusing and over the top. I don't like anime when it falls into "being weird" tropes.
Last time I saw it was like 10 years so I thought I may like it more this time around. I was wrong.
My thoughts on Madelines Madeline: did not like it but I could appreciate that if it clicked with you it would be the MOTY. the lead actress will ‘go places’
My thoughts on high life: oh heck yea
My other thought on Madelines Madeline: This poster sucks insanely bad
what are you reading? I started Blindness by Saramago yesterday, really liking the way he writes (the one before that was Ubik by Philip K. Dick, very fun). I've also been reading The Count of Monte Cristo for years but it's really very long-winded where I'm at, so I always read a few chapters and then get in a whole other book before coming back to it. Holding out hope it'll be worth it in the end.
Man I couldn't get into Grave of the Fireflies. I didn't care for those kids so I was bored throughout - and no tears were shed. Anyways, what shows are you watching? I'm rewatching Deadwood in anticipation of the movie (still excellent), and catching up on s2 of American Gods (it sucks, I'm just in it for Ian McShane and Crispin Glover at this point).
William Gutierrez
im mainly watching legend galactic heroes, its a really dope (so far) large scale political scifi anime, and i dont usually like anime. ive also got generation kill and the original twilight zone to get through
Sebastian Ramirez
That makes no sense. Are you watching and posting at the same time? What kind of pleb does that? Jesus Christ the people I share the board with.
Jordan Wilson
why don’t you shit the hell up you god damned bozo
Cooper Sanders
bump
Blake Williams
Please Griffithfag, come back like Titus and destroy the Second /lbg/ Temple
Ayden Perry
My last four were all rewatches, don't know why it doesn't show.
jay burschal is unbearable in that film. such a whiney little toss
knocked up was surprisingly good
Jacob Perez
I love that movie, more so than Knocked Up
Colton Hill

you're fooling nobody. you're the same fag who makes every letterboxed thread and always have
Daniel Sanchez
I think Jay Burschal is annoying in every film he's in. His voice pisses me off, can't imagine why they wanted him for How To Train Your Dragon as a VA
Unironically Triumph of the Will - for a uni history course though
Connor Long
But Amour is a 5 out of 5
Carson Barnes
Honestly I wish I was, search my profile on the archives, I've posted it maybe a handful of times. I don't make these threads, don't even have access to the discord channel or anything. I'm just some guy lmao
