They're clearly going for a Fire Rodan type thing, I thought initially it was just his wings have tons of lava in them after emerging from the volcano but it seems as if there is a constant heat and lava flow inside his wings at all times

I think the copters and such detract from the focus being on how majestic the monster is. I guess the crux of the issue here is I think the flying contraptions are just rather ugly. In the poster, I think the better option is to use pieces of architecture like for example. It establishes a sense of scale while still being (in my opinion) a lot nicer looking. I've got to get going so I'll end it here, but I'm glad we could have a civil conversation about it.
