Former Shortland Street star Pua Magasiva has died.
His body was found in Wellington on Saturday.
Police said they were called to a sudden death in the early hours of Saturday morning.
There were no suspicious circumstances.
A spokesperson from South Pacific Pictures confirmed his death.
Magasiva was 38.
The Samoa-born star was raised in Wellington with older brother and fellow actor Robbie.
Magasiva will be remembered for his role as Shortland Street nurse Vinnie Kruse, who he portrayed for more than seven years. He was also known for his role as Shane Clarke, the Red Wind Ranger in Power Rangers Ninja Storm.
He leaves a daughter from his first marriage. At the time of his death he was married to Lizz Sadler. The couple wed last year.
He was active on social media as recently as last week.
In an Instagram post he appeared to be on holiday, posting a shot of Pakiri Beach with the caption "Can't beat my view atm."
Speaking from Samoa, actor and writer Oscar Kightley lead condolences saying he was as "shocked as everyone else".
"I'm just really feeling for his family."
Dame Valerie Adams also tweeted her shock, saying her "thoughts and prayers" were with Magasiva's family.
