Okay

Season 2 had some serious soul to it.

yes but it's shit

As someone who has browsed Yea Forums long term and have never watched any of TD, I've heard up and down about how amazing s1 is and how much of a dumpster fire s2 is. With that, I've made it a point to start with s2 first because the first is always the most memorable.
Idk it doesn't seem bad by any means. I mean, I don't watch crime dramas really. But it definitely felt like a premium show being on HBO. Rachael McAdams is cute; I never had a thing for Colin Ferral due to personal reasons, but I didn't hate his character; I like Vince Vaughn in general; music was good; all the wide shots of CA traffic gave me absolute anxiety in how anyone could possibly drive in that clusterfuck at all.
But yeah, I didn't think it was bad at all. And you guys mean to tell me that s1 is godlike and perfect in comparison?

i did the same thing as you, i went into season 1 loving 2 and really skeptical of 1.
But it really is better than season 2 in almost every conceivable way

they say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, ray. well i own the fucking orchard, ray.

This. Season 2 is like average/passable tier HBO drama but not every HBO drama is pure kino gold or magic like the Sopranos or Boardwalk Empire. Season 1 is possibly the greatest artistic TV I've seen of all time. And some of the best TV generally.

Season 2 was a massive drop in quality compared to it.

Ray, if I were any better there'd be three of me. Well I'm in the mirror funhouse, Ray. And there's four of me, Ray.

...

You ever heard the phrase “too many chiefs and not enough Indians” Ray? What do you think happened to all the Indians?

Let me let you in on a little secret. There’s really only one chief around here. Me, Chief smallpox.

Ok i'll say it
I loved the 2nd season more than the 1st

A stitch in time saves nine, Ray. I don't know what that means but i'm all out of fabric.

kek

Here's the thing. You consider it "not bad."
It being merely adequate is exactly why it was such trash compared to season 1.

They say m&ms melt in your mouth, well I'm over here eating skittles.

Lies.

>they say all roads lead to Rome, but I'm on the bottom of the fucking Ocean

BRAVO VINCE
like this?

lol

Season 1 was lightning in a bottle. It would be nearly impossible to replicate the quality with new characters. Season 2 gets shit on unfairly because of this. I didn't like 2 the first time I watched, possibly because it was too hard to follow but on a second watch I loved it. All 4 mains were great. I was especially surprised by how good Taylor was since he's usually terrible in everything else

Ray, I apologize to you if I don't seem eager to jump into a forced, awkward, intimate situation that people like to call a cryptic attempt at intimidation. You're sitting there you're wondering do I have alcohol on my shirt? Am I drinking? Am I talking too much? Are they talking enough? Am I scary? I'm not really scary. Should I play like I'm scary? But I'm not that scary but I think he might be scared. But do I want to be scary, but now he's scared, so now all of a sudden I'm getting--I'm starting to get scary? And when am I supposed to kill him? Do I have to wait till we're saying goodbye cause then it's awkward? It's like, well, goodnight, you're dead. Do you do like the avoid shots to the face thing? Where you like, you try to shoot for an open casket and it's more dangerous because you maybe don't get the kill right away? Or do you just go right in and shoot them in the face? Or don't shoot them at all? It's very difficult trying to read the situation. And all the while you just really want to know, are we going to get angry enough to make some sloppy attempts on each other? Perhaps play a little game called just the tip of the knife, just for a second to see how it feels. Or, ouch ouch, it's all the way in my spleen.

>Ray you should already know the pen is mightier than the sword. But you sold your soul with a fucking no.3 pencil

You know what they say Raymond, don't live your life being penny wise and pound foolish. But here's the thing Ray, I just got back from the pound with a fuckin chihuahua.

>it's a dog eat dog world, Ray. And guess what? I'm the fuckin chinaman.

>I was never too good at math. Shit, I was terrible in school. I failed calculus three times. But when you've got four dead bodies on your hands, three hours until sunset, and two dirty cops digging through your trash can --- well then the numbers start adding up real fast. I'm talking Road Runner fast. And if you can't put one and two together, and if the guilt you got weighing on your back isn't equal to the unit pressure of four dead men when you divide that heaviness by the surface area of LA -- that's when you know the test's fixed and there ain't no right answer. Just a bunch of fucking equations that all equal a big ugly zero. Like life.

>Casper said it would be as easy as shooting fish in a barrel. Well you know what Ray? I'm a shark in barrel, and no one is shooting me.

I do too. I even subconsciously say outloud, "Caspar knew this" when I hear an obvious fact.

>I've never done coke in my life. Never even hit a bump limit on Yea Forums

Anyone here seen dragged across concrete? Is it any good?

kek

It has has all of the deadpan charm of a Zahler flick, which you'll either hate or love. I enjoyed it. Will your girlfriend or mom like it? Absolutely not.

They say it takes two to tango...

Well I'm doing the Macarena

Season One
>nihilistic
>loaded with inane quips
>hyper cynical fedora lord and doofus leads
>violence has no impact, everything "horrifying" occurs off-screen
>has a few great shots and scenes interspersed with mundane, vapid diatribes
>gobbledegook mysticism

Season 2
>diverse cast of protagonists with varied backgrounds and motivations
>deals with real, existing characters and scenarios
>characters' endings are poetic and deeply tied to their own shortcomings and personalities

Vinceposting is high IQ, ‘God Tier’ if you will...there’s only /got/ fags and reddit sneed posters left. Every post is relatively shit Ray, but I’m studying quantum theory

/got/ posting is kino, i just wish td posting was as popular

the brightest spark is the quickest to extinguish. casper knew this

There were only two good vinceposting threads. By the third one redditards drove into the ground with their piece of shit "they say x ray, well I'm y, le caspere knew this xdd" unfunny formula. But we'll always have those two threads

>Hey, Ray, Why don't you try getting jacked off under the table in front of the whole damn family and have some real problems, jackass. Hey, what were they like anyway? They looked pretty good, are they real? Are they built for speed or comfort? What'd you do with them? Motorboat?

Yea Forums was good before literal pedofaggot trannies from reddit and pornzombies from tumblr came here after getting thrown off their faggot platforms.

This was the last good meme Yea Forums pulled off.

Fuck.

None of them are really all that bad, but season one was just perfect, deep philosophical writing, top notch cinematography, a list actors giving their best. It was just tits.

>They say you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Well, Ray, my horse drowned in the fucking river and now I'm backpacking the rest of the way up the Himalayas with a broken leg.

weak

Season 2 had the actors giving their very best; the problem was that the writing and the plot were just kinda trash and there were too many of them. Rust and Marty were two guys and we could devote so much focus on them. Season 2 we had four key characters, one of which was only connected to the other three through Farrell.

One of the great things about Season 1 is how you were able to understand the relationship between the two and how everyone around them saw them and how the world looked to them together. It was something of this grand picture. In Season 2 you just didn't get any of that. Each of the characters went on their own way for the most part. There was no point to the relationship with the abusive mother other than it fucked the guy up; there was nothing more than hilarity at the "I love big dicks" moment because none of the other characters were there. Rust and Marty did their best work together and the show showed us what went wrong when they split. The way they wrote the three cops didn't spend nearly enough time of them being together.

Wait, Season 3 happened. I had completely forgotten it came out.

Was it a dumpster fire? Did they unfuck themselves?

imo it wasnt as bad as Yea Forums says it is, it held my interest till the end even though the end was what disappointed most people cus its actually kind of a happy ending where they find out nothing too bad was happening. Stephen Dorff did good enough to check it.

vinceposting died because it was literally too smart for this board
