If Disney suddenly got the rights to Lord of the Rings (Either through some crazy deal or buying out Warner Brothers somehow) what would happen? How would the series be affected? Would there be more movies? Merchandise in Disney stores? Animated series on Disney XD?

LOTR is pretty PG so it would be a good match for the Disney brand.
Didn't Tolkien explicitly prohibit Disney from ever owning or doing anything with the franchise?
This
Really? Where is he?
Expect a non-canon sequel trilogy where the main characters reinite to fight Sauron in the Grey Havens
>"I recognize [Walt Disney's] talent, but it has always seemed to me hopelessly corrupted. Though in most of the 'pictures' proceeding from his studios there are admirable or charming passages, the effect of all of them to me is disgusting. Some have given me nausea"
>"It might be advisable [...] to let the Americans do what seems good to them — as long as it was possible [...] to veto anything from or influenced by the Disney studios (for all whose works I have a heartfelt loathing)."
how can one man be so based?
Daily reminder Jackson literally ripped off 80% of his trilogy almost shot for shot from the 80s animated movie. The guy was fucking furious about it, it's so blatant.
Based
Tolkien's estate still has a lot of say, which is why Christopher Tolkien keeps publishing shit in JRR's name, and why there's a lot of press about them disowning the new Tolkien biopic
Bakshi was a genius but this isn't one of his brighter moments. The reason some of the shots look similar is because they're adapted from the same book. The character designs for Saruman, the Ringwraiths, etc. are enough to make Bakshi LotR and Jackson LotR two separate works.
and that guy ripped 100% of his movie from "The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R Tolkien
pretty blatant
Yes, he's literally our guy
He said to "Veto for as long as possible" but he's dead and the rights have been tossed around like a hot potato for years. Legally nothing can stop Disney if they get the rights from Middle Earth Enterprises or WB.
The only thing the Tolkien Estate can do is wring their hands and tell people to not give Disney money.
Dude the shots are near fucking identical. I've read the books and they did not describe the similarities in the shots, they can only occur through Jackson watching his animated version and just turning it live action.
And it's like 80% of the movies, not jist a few scenes.

Case and point
you can't be serious
Literally 80% of these shots are clearly only similar because of the common source material rather than direct plagiarism as you're claiming. You got the percentages mixed around.. Fucking retard.
Wrong and samefag. You clearly didn't watch even half of it yet you respond. Only posted around 7 minutes ago.
>A silhouetted combat sequence with like 5 shapes is the same as a giant CGI-supported battle with thousands of extras and elaborate costumes
imagine being so autistic that you feel the need to check post times vs the video length
Well it won me the day, did it not? :)
