See, big companies are allowed to censor you because they own these sites. Even though they're public forums used for people to communicate opinion and ideas to each other, so it should be given the same credence we give to our free speech laws. But apparently big companies are the ones who get the last say on that and not the people themselves.

Why do people care so much about twitter? Isn't there an alternative website that people can use? I have been wondering for a few years now why people still flock there, with all this censorship going on there.

I honestly hate government control. But one of the criterias for free speech is a platform to practice it, laws havent caught up to the internet, a corporation would never be able to practice the control they do on the internet in the physical world. An equivalent of facebook, twitter, instagram etc should be made and treated basically as the 'public space' of the internet so real laws can actually be applied and we'd have free speech and not unqualified 30 year olds just censoring shit they dont like

There is a website called Gab that is a "free speech" version of Twitter where all the right wing wrongthinkers go when they get deplatformed. The news media keeps smearing the website as a haven for racists which turns normalfags off from the website (also why go to another twitter when twitter exists?). Gab has also been targeted for deplatforming several times, but has survived. There are also at least two other twitter clones that are rumored to be more left leaning than Twitter. Wil Wheaton went to one of those websites in protest over Alex Jones not being banned on Twitter, but even he was chased off because he was not leftist enough.
