I'll spoil the entire movie if you want.
Saw this last night. AMA
I want you to spoil the entire movie, please
Why are they still making these movies?
They’re kino
the second one was already much worse than the first one
The movie picks up right where 2 left off with John running through NYC. He goes to the NYC public library to get a picture of his wife and some other continental stuff. He still has about 30 minutes left and a fellow assassin and him fight in the library, John has a really great kill featuring an old Russian book.
He then goes to a doctor who repairs him with less than a few minutes on the clock. The doc can't repair him as he's officially excommunicado halfway through the stitching so John finishes it. The doctor tells John to shoot him so the high table won't know the doctor helped him get medicine and stitched him up. John shoots him in non-fatal areas and the doctor tells him good luck.
He then leaves and is in Chinatown trying to get to the Russian facility where he grew up. The chinese start chasing him and he ends up in a building where he kills a guy like the Wild West with a revolver and the ol' cowboy stance. They end up having a knife fight that's very cool where both sides are throwing everything from knives to plates and whatever else at them - it's in the trailer. He ends up being chased into a horse barn and fights some more guys off with a few horse kills. The horse bashes a few of the guys' heads in, it's funny.
He makes his way to the facility and meets the lady who raised him. It's revealed John was an orphan of sorts and they say his real name - it's a russian name that I can't recall. I couldn't tell if that was legitimately his real name or his name within the family, but it does make sense. The family is a crime family and they have a theater in which they train kids to become like John Wick. Anyway, they grant him passage to Casablanca but vow that he could never come back to his original family.

I'm not sure. I've lost interest in these films now. This one felt like a glorified TV episode and ends in a similar cliffhanger to the last one. The first is still the best, in my opinion, and as they continue making these films, they become rather boring. The fight scene with Halle Berry is so loud I got a migraine because it's constant gunshots.
Some of the scenes they take straight from Asian cinema. The Raid 2's boss fights towards the end are in this movie. The motorcycle scene from The Villainess is in this movie, not done as well.
Perhaps I've been spoiled by cinema from afar but The Night Comes for Us was much better than this. It felt like there were no stakes in this and the story wasn't that good. The Winston twist at the end is up for debate as I couldn't tell if he did what he did to help John or actually betray him.
How much comedy is in the film?
John arrives in Casablanca and is about to fight 3 different guys until some fancy dude in a suit shows up. His handler has told him to pick up John to see him. They go and meet the handler and end up meeting Halle Berry's character, Sofia. She has an arc in which John and her know each other because she made a vow to John to help him in need because John kept her daughter safe. She doesn't know where her daughter is and doesn't want to know in fear of someone finding her to hurt her and, I suppose, her finding her daughter and not being a good person.
She's reluctant in helping John but nonetheless agrees to take John to her boss (who happens to be Bronn from GoT) so the boss could pinpoint him towards The Elder. They meet the boss and he says to go walk around in the desert and look up at the sky and he should arrive, but that's all. The boss wants one of Sofia's dogs in exchange but Sofia says no. The boss shots the dog and Sofia starts killing everyone and John too. Turns out the dog wasn't hit and played pretend as the bullet hit the vest that the dog was wearing. They kill everyone but the boss and Sofia's dog bites his balls and dick and Sofia shoots him in the leg.
Good question. I can't recall. I would say it's the same as the other film. I would say it's less of a nuisance than the MCU because it's not quippy and the jokes are actually funny. More of a dry and dark humor than just for the sake of it.
Nah
Why does the dog play pretend?
Sofia drops John off in the desert, and gives him spit water to drink so he doesn't dehydrate. John walks in the desert for some time and passes out and is found by a random man. That man takes him to the elder whom John meets. The Elder removes the excommunicado from John as long as he kills Winston and in exchange for John's marriage ring. John cuts off his ringer finger and takes off the ring to give to The Elder. He is then granted passage back to NYC in an all black suit.
He ends up in Grand Central Station where the chinese assassins are back. The motorcycle scene ensues and eventually him and Zero, the main antagonist, end up at the continental. Winston is there and John is safe for a bit as he cannot be killed on continental grounds. Winston and John team up to go against the high table and let the Adjudicator know they don't care.
The high table sends a squad of bulletproof guys after her. They're supposed to be the best of the best but really they're just henchman who have really good armor. It takes more than a pistol round to kill them. John fights them and realizes he needs more firepower so him and the Charon keep going back and forth to get ammo and guns from the gun room as Winston sips on wine, listens to classical music. and pets John's dog.
They end up using bullet penetrating bullets from the shotgun and blow the heads off of several guys. The fight scene is shown in the trailer with the swat looking guys coming out of the trucks and the green room, which is the waiting area in the continental where you walk in.
John makes his way upstairs to fight the Chinese assassins and his goons. Mad dog from The Raid is one of the guys and they're all super fans of John. They fight him and give him a hand up the first few times saying they want a fair fight and John's been out of the game for years, although they're excited to fight him.
I would agree. If you didn't like 2, you won't like this one.
2 and 3 suffer from being glorified TV episodes. I would much prefer this be a TV show because of the ongoing plot and no conclusion that's presented.
John beats them all up but doesn't kill them. They're pretty broken at the end of the fight and are just glad to have fought John. It's much better presented in the film and funnier than what I'm writing.
John fights Zero and stabs him eventually. Zero is also a superfan of John. He has a sword through him and tells John that he's just "catching my breath" but ends up dying once John leaves the room.
John makes his way to the rooftop where Winston, Charon, and the Adjudicator are. Winston says he wants to be back with the high table and Adjudicator is shocked with her saying something to the effect of, the whole continental siege happened so Winston can show that no one can challenge him, although John did all the work. Winston takes out his gun and shoots John several times, who has the bulletproof suit on. He eventually falls of the roof of the building and lands in the back alley. John's dog runs out to him and he's picked up by the homeless guy from the first one who works for the Bowery King. John, beaten, broken is asked by the Bowery king how he feels because the BK is pissed off as shit. John says he's angry and the movie cuts to black.
Left off some details but the BK was cut 7 times and made it seem like he died when he didn't. At the end of the movie he has scars and stitches all over his face. This was because he gave a gun to John with 7 bullets.
The adjudicator acts as a representative of the high table.
Winston is given a choice to kill John at the start of the film, 7 days to kill him or else he would be removed as the owner of the continental. I don't know why he tried to kill him towards the end as I can't tell if the film wanted us to know that Winston knew John would live or he wanted to legitimately betray him.
I've probably left out some other stuff but ask anything. I may end up recalling something I missed.
I think this will be a little divisive compared to the other films. If you're a fan of 2, you should enjoy this; if you preferred the first, you won't like this as much. I think I'm done with this series myself.
Somebody claimed one of those russian theater kids will get a spin off. The Ballerina or something like that. Is there any hints to this?
I'm not sure. They're shown in the film so I suppose they could get something. I wouldn't be surprised if they were in The Continental TV series.
There are two scenes in which the kids are shown and the second one is very cool. The music is nice and it shows the Asian assassins coming in to the facility with The Adjudicator talk to Wick's "Mom".
Thanks for sharing dude. Doesn't sound that bad reading your posts, even though I'm not into the bullet proof suits stuff. Btw. is there any mystery left? Like shadowy folks pulling strings?
The High table and the members of that are about it, but it's not so much a mystery, it's more so you want to see how bad ass they are in the next one. Wouldn't surprise me if they hired some high profile people to be in the High table.
It's not a bad film, it's just going in a different direction than what I personally would've like. I'm sure people will eat up this movie but it wouldn't surprise me if it scored around a 78% rotten rating.
Fuck, so there will be John Wick 4? Hope Keanu's body can make through all of this. He's 53.
No doubt. The end is a cliffhanger with John wanting to get revenge. Ian McShane said it could last for another 10 years as well.
If Cruise can do it, Kino Reeves can.
You dont watch John Wick for the plot
Then why is there so much exposition in 2 and 3 for nothing?
