There are people on this board RIGHT now who think Sauron isn't one of the greatest villains of all time

He was kind of a fag in the Silmarillion

im le dark evil with no backstory or motivation

He's a fucking cuck

why is he angry?

Silmarillion is before his chad phase as a Dark Lord

>finger gets cut off
>die
truly impressive

He wants to bring order to middle earth and crush faggots like you and this user

but he has both of those things

what you mean is that he has no human personality or flawed characteristics that makes him compelling beyond very evil ancient demigod

ASH NAZG DURBATULÚK, ASH NAZG GIMBATUL,
ASH NAZG THRAKATULÚK AGH BURZUM-ISHI KRIMPATUL.

Sauron is indeed a great villain, but mostly through world building and the effects his influence has caused thoughout said world.
However, he isn't a very fleshed out "up close" villain. He isn't given a lot of dialogue and it's not like someone who played him imbued lots of character onto him.

his armor is the best villain`s armor in the history of ciniema. There is something demonic and scary about him. This is not a boring tanos with human`s moral values, this guy does not make negotiations.

What do you mean villain? He just wants to be left alone

The first sentence is why he's such a good villain, you don't even need anything else.

DELET THIS

>this guy does not make negotiations.
I think in the books he does

Because Sauron isn't a villain

The ring itself is the more interesting villain

Sauron's man is a better and more nuanced character

The ring is part of Sauron tho, right?

Who /celebrimbor/gang here?
He dabbed on the dark retard, fucked over Gondors captain and eats Nazgul for breakfast.

>celebrimbor
>tortured and killed by sauron
>dabbed on him
ok

Talking about the based wraith

While I've never watched your little movie Thanos is clearly the winner.

>shadow of war
>taking this fanfiction from the retards who thought shelob was a hero seriously

In LOTR not really but the Amazon tv show has the potential to make him way more interesting, i expect he will play a pivotal part seeing as it looks like they will set it during the forging of the rings + downfall of numenor

not like cersei
i mean he wanted just wanted to control and corrupt all life
she's a queen, yaaaasssss, and she also blew up some cultists and plots to kill her brothers and she, like, fucked one of them

What do you mean? In the simarillion he was more of a cunning manipulator, sure, but I don't remember him negotiating shit in lotr.

shit

I know you are baiting, but I actually like her

Thanos would be high tier and Darth Vader sometimes mid-tier, other times great?
Seems weird, I like to think that what made Darth Vader a perfect vilain was the "I am your father" scene

Fuck off with that old bait

What a gay genre of music

Imagine if Tolkien had died without finishing the book and D&D, many decades later, made the show with their own end.
Sauron would've gotten the ring back, be all powerful, stomping over Gandalf, Aragorn and everyone else; Frodo and Sam killed by Gollum, who Sauron took the ring from. Out of nowhere comes Arwen and stabs him in the back insta-winning the whole war. And then we would get a shitty civil war between Aragorn and Faramir for the throne.

Sauron isn't really a character, just a personification of evil. The beings that ally with Sauron are the real antagonists of the story. There is nothing wrong with this route of storytelling, Lord of the Rings is about good men overcoming evil, it doesn't need a sympathetic or understandable main villain.

Since it's a movie board only the shit presented in movies matters and Sauron in the movies makes Snoke look competent.

This nigga got a point though, Sauron has decent style.

Both would be mid tier and both are shit. Thanos just comes of as an idiot, at least banging death would be something that stand out and play together with being an idiot. Darth Vader would work better if Sith were presented as real alternative and not the evil guys doing evil shit.

Melkor was personification of evil. Sauron is evil but in lust for power.

Isn't he more about order?

The angular face plate is what does it for me. Combined with his height, it turns him from a guy in armour into a part demonic part ancient fae figure.
