So...

So, Chernobyl is popular and that means that pretty soon Netflix will want its own Real Life Catastrophy Event miniseries. What could they adapt into a kino?

Water is much denser and more effective at absorbing radiation than air. As long as the source is deep in the Ocean, radiation isn’t a threat.

I'm sensing the same artistic touch as with the Warwick Davis pasta, here.

There was an Indian on the panel of officials. Does that bother you?

>No Americam characters
that's a deal breaker for americans

I'm no scientist but I think those long tubes are what slow the reaction, so when you remove them completely it gets out of control fast. Then it was made with some kind of iron tip which actually accelerates the reaction shortly when put back in. So they pulled them out, it got out of control, and then putting it back it made it go more out of control momentarily, enough to blow the thing up.

I think the tubes have iron in them or something, and then they are suspended in water. The iron heats up and the steam turns a turbine.

>There was an Indian on the panel of officials
What?

There are fuel rods that sit down in there permanently (or until spent) and then there are control rods that they move up and down.

In the show, there’s a brown dude sitting in the room with all the old guys.

The Donner Party. Would be great to see all these families starting out west, being all optimistic. And then it slowly begins to devolve into shit. Starvation, murder, disappearances, cannibalism, huge snow storms. It's begging for a miniseries.

Thing I don't get is what is the core? On wikipedia it looks like the core is below all the rods. I thought the core was where the fuel and control rods were located, but it seems like the core is actually below it

did people actually vomit and start bleeding from radiation? there seems to be a lot of uncertain information around which points to it not actually being THAT bad.

Some sources claim 2 deaths on the very night were caused by the actual explosion and in the next few weeks 30-50 of first respondents would die from radiation exposure, but you'd think if they started vomiting and bleeding on the spot from standing next to core graphite, they'd die within hours to days, not weeks to years. There's claim that the number of deaths caused by radiation after years is ~200 with citizens being relatively unaffected while others claim it's 4000 deaths and 100k affected

male bodies smell worst than females
but yeah, cunts smell really bad

Something were negroids and women are more efficient than white men during the catastrophy

Yes 2 people died due to injuries caused by the explosion. They got a face full of scalding hot steam, but it had nothing to do with radiation.

> There's claim that the number of deaths caused by radiation after years is ~200 with citizens being relatively unaffected while others claim it's 4000 deaths and 100k affected
It's like the Holocaust.

There have been multiple documented cases of Americans being badly irradiated. Each victim vomited moments after getting nuked. The mechanism through which radiation induces vomiting is not entirely clear.

>did people actually vomit
sometimes
>and start bleeding from radiation?
nah
radiation kills in a slow way. Well, if you touch uranium is a little faster

Attached: vintage-uranium-ore-actual-sample_1_f6f852a7ea3c7fdf220bdf1eadab560f[1].jpg (1349x432, 102K)

>Symptoms
>Gastrointestinal. This syndrome often follows absorbed doses of 6–30 grays (600–3,000 rad).[2] The signs and symptoms of this form of radiation injury include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain.[10] Vomiting in this time-frame is a marker for whole body exposures that are in the fatal range above 4 grays (400 rad). Without exotic treatment such as bone marrow transplant, death with this dose is common.[2] The death is generally more due to infection than gastrointestinal dysfunction.

Bleeding is probably the result of the skin and blood vessels becoming extremely fragile from tissue damage. As for the timescale, it is entirely dependent on intensity and length of exposure. It takes an enormous dosage to kill quickly, and even then it's a slow death as the body literally fall apart inside and out.

Is this the one I mentioned a couple of threads ago where an entire village was radiated because somebody broke into an abandoned hospital and swiped radioactive material and sold the cool glowing shit as trinkets and shit

>On wikipedia it looks like the core is below all the rods. I thought the core was where the fuel and control rods were located, but it seems like the core is actually below it
The rods travel vertically. The core is where the reaction occurs. Fuel rods are basically dropped into place and stay until the next refueling. Control rods are moved up and down as needed to control power output. With all control rods down in the reactor core the reaction stops, but latent heat from the reaction + natural decay heat can still melt everything down without coolant.

Yup. Happens way more than it should. Other cases include morons recycling metal and accidentally throwing radioactive stuff in there.

Not to mention the nuclear device that they probably built and tested in the Australian outback.

Kino video, but they found no trace of smoke inside the tent IIRC, so his theory doesn't really work.

>...and even then it's a slow death as the body literally fall apart inside and out.
And there's even a "walking ghost" phase where someone who receives a fatal dose can feel relatively OK. Then the SHTF biologically as existing cells die off but aren't replaced since their cell division and DNA is fucked beyond all repair.

Radiation sucks.

TELL ME HOW A RBMK REACTOR EXPLODES.

Attached: 1557489922529.jpg (968x681, 82K)

>The mechanism through which radiation induces vomiting is not entirely clear
Huh? I thought it damages the DNA of the cells that make up the inner wall of the stomach, and because they have to divide a lot they instantly commit sudoku to avoid becoming cancer.
What triggers the vomiting is probably just all those dead cells and the stomach acid starting to eat away on your flesh.

All memes aside...

* Test to see if latent steam in turbines could power water pumps in the 45s gap between grid power loss and diesel generator takeover.
* The test required a specific power output.
* They were supposed to power down the reactor to test levels slowly.
* Electrical grid needed power so they kept it running high, then dropped it fast to stay on schedule.
* The result was Xenon poisoning and the power output dropped way too low.
* Rather than abort the test they disabled safeties and pulled the control rods.
* The Xenon poisoning was severe so they pulled damn near ALL the control rods and the power output was still low.
* Rather than abort the test they proceeded AGAIN.
* RBMK reactors have a positive coefficient of reactivity. This means water coolant is a control and as water is lost reactivity increases.
* They cut grid power to the pumps.
* Water pumps spinning but slowing down.
* Steam voids forming in core as water flow decreases.
* Feedback loop: Reactivity increases > Xenon burn and more steam > reactivity increases.
* Somebody scrams the reactor.
* Here's the real WTF moment: RBMK reactors have GRAPHITE TIPS on the control rods. Graphite being a FUCKING MODERATOR and not a control.
* As control rods drop REACTIVITY INCREASES EVEN MORE. Remember the feedback loop above.
* There's enough heat to deform the control rod channels so they stop 1/3rd of the way.
* Xenon burned off, there's nothing but steam in the core, and graphite is stuck a third of the way in = literal fission bomb.
* There were two explosions. Evidence indicates that one was literally a fissile event. The core blew itself apart, blew the top biological shield off, and once oxygen rushed in anything that could burn did burn.

And of course the reactor didn't have a concrete containment dome like western reactors because glorious Soviet RBMK reactors don't explode are you stupid???

I don't get the hype about this new HBO show.
I congratulate the fact they based a film on the events of the Chernobyl accident, which itself is fascinating enough and can constitute an awesome smart science film..
Yeah but classifying the show from the first episode as Kino sounds kinda fishy at least. It is what you'd expect a Hollywood movie on the topic to be... or worse, a historic discovery channel documentary. (similar to Picasso or Einstein)

Given that the film depicts a tragedy after all it expected the atmosphere to be the well know take on the age old conventional representation of Soviet life. There is a missed chance to show a more human-like side the events that took place, although the film preises itself with doing exactly that... It just seems like a hopelessly foreign and distant observation to what happened.

A lot could have been done to show the contrast of daily life and daily conversation between the characters and the severity of the situation as the scale of of the catastrophe becomes apparent. Instead we have the static heroic characters aware of their historical significance, speaking short inspirational phrases with high pathos and long pauses. Impersonal. This is not how Eastern European people talk to eachother, not how they act. like I said extremely foreign.

Example: the scene where Legasov is taken to check the roof by the soldier. There is no talking between the characters as both are sent to certain doom. It is clear one is a main character and the other is just a piece of the environment. ... It doesn't give viewers a sense of "real" at all .... even worse not a sense of "surreal" too.

It was easy to make this film and it turned out as expected. It's a serious film about the historic event but far from could have been done. It's a cinematic commemoration but not Kino that makes you feel.

In conclusion: threads about the show are ADS.

I have no idea what Ukrainians really are but I can guarantee you that man is not Indian and you more than likely have shit in your eyes.

If they had a concrete dome would this have contained the radiation and everyone would be safe?

didn't read lol

I don't think the shield would have blown through a concrete dome, but I can't say for sure.

Any one of the following would have prevented the disaster. Some might have still resulted in a meltdown.
* Reactor design with negative coefficient of reactivity.
* Concrete dome.
* Following the fucking test procedures to the letter which would have meant rescheduling the test when the grid needed the power. And also rescheduling when it was clear just how xenon poisoned the reactor was.
* No graphite tips on the control rods.

>watching show

really took me out of it

It's horror and did a great job this episode. You can't take away from that. Anyone who wants to find out the whats and hows of this disaster or the Soviet Union can do so already, that's not the point of the show.

You claim that the show cant be judged as "kino" after the first episode and then you claim that the show lacks the "personal touch", after having watched one episode. I applaud you for writing down so many wordy words, but you contradict yourself within sentences and generally just seem to have posted to proclaim your contrarianism and seeking attention.

The reason why this is being hyped so much is twofold. First, similar to "OJ series", the word "Chernobyl" is not only the name of the plant, but synonymous for a massive nuclear tragedy. Everyone and their mothers know about Chernobyl. Many of us Europeans remember the hype, or heard stories. So that alone makes it interesting.

The second aspect is that not only is it incredibly well cast (except for that imaginary stronk woman character), but productionwise looks like a home run. We all know the story, we all know whats gonna happen, but we want some glimpses behind the scenes and a little slice of Soviet-era daily life.

So take that gigantic tampon out of your ass, and watch the next 4 episodes. Then give us your "AND THIS IS WHY ITS PROBLEMATIC".

This is where they lost me. Why would they do that? Why would this even be an option?

Also even if the grid power to the pumps was cut, wouldn't they have a backup generator for those? I'd think they'd have either a diesel or natural gas generator there in case grid power was lost and they still needed to pump water...

>race obsessed neet trying to ruin discussion about the only good show on TV right now

tl;dr you need to go to the infirmary. You've been exposed to contaminated feed water. You'll be alright I've seen worse.

Fukushima

>This is where they lost me. Why would they do that? Why would this even be an option?
They were simulating a total loss of grid power event to see if steam in the turbines could keep the pumps running until the diesel generators were ready to take the load.

>Also even if the grid power to the pumps was cut, wouldn't they have a backup generator for those?
That's what they were testing. The backups took 45s to startup and reach the point that they could take the electrical load. That was an unacceptable gap they were trying to cover.

Did it take you out of Troy that most of the cast wasn't Greek/Trojan?

>This is where they lost me. Why would they do that? Why would this even be an option?
Soviet engineering mentality. The whole thing was a rush job right from the start because nearly everyone involved was more interested in promotions and the bonus situation than safety.

That would be extremely offensive.

Why not have a battery? I mean the transfer switch on my house takes like three seconds. I realize these were much larger generators but still... I mean for a nuclear reactor why not have the generators running 24/7? Run it off natural gas

That's dumb. You either go full Ukrainian with subtitles or you go full english without silly accents. There's no reason for extra #9 to have a fake russian accent all of a sudden when everyone else is speaking the queen's english. Talk about immersion breaking, this is it right there.

And I've never seen any of these things mention the fairly common theory in russia that an ice sheet hit the tent and thats what caused them to flee because they either mistook it for an avalanche and/or it would have knocked the overhead stove down onto them causing further panic

>Why not have a battery?
I don't know if we have the battery tech even today. You have to appreciate how much water is moved through a nuclear reactor core and how much power it takes to drive those pumps.

>I mean for a nuclear reactor why not have the generators running 24/7? Run it off natural gas
I suppose the argument could be made for keeping generators always running feeding the grid but ready to switch instantly to just maintaining the pumps if the need arises.

Keep in mind though: none of this was supposed to happen. If they had followed the test procedure to a T the core wouldn't have been at risk of damage even if the test failed. During full power use if grid power was lost and there was a 45s gap there would have been damage, but not this shit show.

It's an obvious mistake not to use containment domes and I think a positive coefficient design is also a mistake. But for all the shit talk about Soviet engineering, those fucks on duty that night made mistake and after mistake which led to the reactor being in an incredibly unstable condition.

If you've read "Child 44" by Tom Rob Smith (The book not the movie, the movie is shit), you'll know what I'm trying to get at.
It is the complete opposite. It is written by a gay British oxford student but nevertheless shows an extremely good glimpse of Soviet era life, down to where you start to imagine the carpets on the walls and the babushkas.
This movie shows those things but they are distant and irrelevant.
... anyway I don't expect you to understand

I don't see how socialism explains that. I could see if they said "well shit this is fucking bad but we need to cover it up" or "ehh, nothing to worry about, carry on as usual" ....but how does "nothing to worry about, cut the phone lines, nobody in or out" compute?

They deserved it. NIPPON STRONGU

uh huh, because making the extremely rich pay taxes for once and sealing off a city full of people are exactly the same

the problem with the avalanche theory is that their footprints show that they walked away from the tent not ran way in a panic
>why were they irritated
the only clothes that were irritated belonged to the two guys who worked with radioactive material watch the video

Attached: 1433121023283.gif (320x240, 1.95M)

They were naked from paradoxical undressing. I never heard of the radiation, but it could come from any number of natural sources.

Whatever it is, can we please get the correct language with subtitles please?

>3meter fall
>Breaks ribs and a skull
I'm gonna go with bull shit on that

Were they just poorly trained? It seems unlikely that the soviets wouldn't have someone pretty smart running their nuclear program.

a 3m fall onto rocks and ice without breaking any bones would be considered a mirracle

This sin't a show centered on daily life in the Soviet Era, this is a show centered on daily life during a nuclear disaster. Go read Moscow-Petushki if that's what you're after, but don't judge a show because it doesn't have enough of what you want, when what you want is not the topic of said show.

no, we never think about you at all actually and just enjoy the threads. Stop projecting

>its totally under control

Attached: 1528325966043.jpg (1200x800, 65K)

>socialism
It's not socialism. It's /pol/-tier "socialism", i.e., totalitarian/authoritarian/communist government - pretty much whatever dangerous ideology was featured in 1984.

Socialism selects for people who will push the party narrative at all costs. This is a problem with all of politics, but socialism is particularly bad at it.

Have you seen this one?

youtube.com/watch?v=le_9jp7IL5k

This sounds like a biased stance to me.

if by enjoying the thread you mean copy pasting the same garbage post over and over then more power to you, eh

>Socialism selects for people who will push the party narrative at all costs
Apparently everybody at FOX News is a socialist.

Yea but we're talking about ribs and a skull the strongest bones you have and with an impact that killed them instantly. A 10 foot fall isn't gonna do that

>Were they just poorly trained? It seems unlikely that the soviets wouldn't have someone pretty smart running their nuclear program.
Control system design and training has been a long term problem in all of nuclear engineering. But if I had to guess I don't think Chernobyl happened due to poor training, but due to pressure from above. Management pressure and overrides are a constant problem across all of engineering. A number of disasters boil down to arrogant management believing they are smarter than their engineers.

Both U.S. space shuttle losses were literally due to managers not listening to their engineers, to give but one example. We never should have lost Challenger, and we could have saved the Columbia crew if management had listened and ordered a space walk (leading to recognition of the damage and an early launch of Atlantis).

>unable to speak but making sounds like cicadas.
so they were speaking japanese?

depends on how you land

Cuman Power!!

>implying you can have socialism without totalitarianism

Then history itself is biased because that's what it shows.

Bashing Fox is just inviting someone to jump in and do the same to CNN. It works the same way with Breitbart and Huffington Post. Both parties have detestable representatives.

Funnily enough when the RBMK-reactors were designed in the 50's they compromised in the design to make the reactors easier and faster to build and run. But at the cost of safety.
But the designers believed that if the workers were well trained in the workings of the reactor and it's quirks, it would counter-balance the lack of intrinsic safety in the design.

But later the designs of the reactor were deemed state secrets and the amount of people who were trained in the workings of the RBMK-reactor was reduced heavily to avoid state secrets leaking to the west.

So no one at the plant really knew how the RBMK-reactor worked and all of it's quirks. They just pushed the buttons and followed protocol, which was fine until the fateful test.

>implying you can have socialism without totalitarianism
Maybe not, but then what's the point of distinguishing it from communism?

The "just add feedwater" guy seemed to be a pretty big dumbass though. He's supposed to be the head engineer, no?

Or was that the guy who they eventually sent to go look into the reactor core? That doesn't make sense to me either, why wouldn't get just get shot rather than die the worst way possible?

>jump in and do the same to CNN
I don't care. They both fabricate news and create propaganda. Fuck 'em.

>a totalitarian ideology stops being totalitarian because neo nazis think it's totalitarian
oof

Well fucking considering they broke their ribs it seems likely they fell on their sides. And one on their head. Even still the idea that three people died from a very survivable fall and all landed in a way that was just perfect enough to insta gib all of them seems impossible

Ah that makes sense.

Louie C.K. did nothing wrong.
RESPECT THE KEK!!

>survivable
its survivable if you get treatement
I dont see how they could get out of that hole with broken ribs and cracked skulls even if they survived the inital impact

>KEK
That was not what I wrote.

If true then I stand corrected in my post here: and training did play a larger role.

Though I still have to say it took a series of mistakes to get the thing to blow. Apart from the missing containment dome I don't know if it's fair to say RBMK reactors were unsafe or compromised, simply not as fail safe as other designs. At the end of the day the test procedure was documented and they didn't follow it. You don't have to know how a reactor works to know that you follow the test procedure to the letter as it was written by people who do know how it works.

Someone was under pressure to have a successful test.

some user requested this yesterday

Attached: u.jpg (565x542, 58K)

nice reading comprehension /pol/ defence force

Well it rhymes

I'm saying a fall like that more than likely wouldn't even break their ribs or their skull but on top of that they said all three died instantly which again is borderline impossible from 10 feet. Theyd certainly be hurt from a fall like that but for all them to die right away seems implausible

>Someone was under pressure to have a successful test
Tinfoil much?

better mention /pol/ some more, just to make sure your genocidal ideology is safe, bro

>31 people die
wow what a disaster. probably more died in a car accident today

it seems that it will have the secuence where the helicopter falls inside the plant, nice

A helicopter fell into the plant?

31 isn't great but it's not horrifying

>genocidal ideology
Are you talking about The Monroe Doctrine?

>The "just add feedwater" guy seemed to be a pretty big dumbass though. He's supposed to be the head engineer, no?
To some degree they were all dumb asses for not following the test procedure to the letter. But at the same time you have to appreciate the psychological forces at work after the explosion. Was that guy normally that arrogant and blind to the facts? Or was he in both shock and fear for his life? Normally rational and intelligent people can cling to a lie when the truth means they're fucked beyond measure.

>Or was that the guy who they eventually sent to go look into the reactor core?
He was a different guy.

>That doesn't make sense to me either, why wouldn't get just get shot rather than die the worst way possible?
Maybe he thought there was a chance he could glance down from the roof quickly but not get enough radiation to actually die. No one knew for certain how bad the accident had been.

Kill yourself brainlet
Taking money from the rich won't increase the amount of resources the working class gets.
Read basic economics.

Also you fucking cucks defend central banking like the good goys you are.

>Tinfoil much?
I don't follow?

there are chances that autisms and a lot of cancers are so common now thanks to chernobyl

And the eyes? The brute force without external damage?

>let's talk about something completely unrelated instead
First /pol/, now this. Amazing deflection skills.

This sounds like a conspiracy theory.

>socialism
You mean Stalinism.

That was clearly an imperialist ideology, you gotta admit.

Yes , and I don't see any difference. The documentary can sometimes be even better

You are correct, the RBMK-reactors weren't actually that much more unsafe than other types of reactors apart from the positive reaction coefficiensy. And the accident was caused by the workers getting pressured to do the test.

But if the had known the nitty gritty workings of the RBMK i think they would have stopped the test earlier and avoided the catastrophe because they would have know how unstable they were making the reactor.

I think Dyatlov was so adamant that the reactor couldn't explode because that was what he had had been told about the reactor and the test they were running.

>Stalinism
STOLLEN-ism moar liek

nigga why would anyone fly a helicopter over an open nuclear core? if the soviets were trying to avoid embarrassment, which seems to be the whole issue, causing a helicopter crash seems to be a bad idea.

Attached: 1475630796798.jpg (512x512, 25K)

>Taking money from the rich won't increase the amount of resources the working class gets.
I'm honestly at the point of believing that corporate profits should only be allowed to be so high, after which excess money is distributed to employees. (Not taxed because government is worse than any wealthy person at spending money.) I've seen too many instances of incentives being distorted for the worse...even in regard to the corporation itself...because of the chance for higher profits in one quarter or year.

...

Toptunov! What are you trying to do to my beloved core?

Attached: images.jpg (259x194, 7K)

Leninism/Stalinism/Maoism/Castroism/YongUnism, yes

it was the only way to throw sand inside the nucleus

Attached: Stollen-Dresdner_Christstollen.jpg (2560x1920, 334K)

People here recommended this and I just started watching it, but I'm afraid now bros it's very spooky. I don't know if I can handle this low key spook, I'm a pussy ass bitch.

> Between 27 April and 1 May, about 1800 helicopter flights deposit over 5,000 metric tons of sand, lead, clay, and neutron absorbing boron onto the burning reactor. It is now known that virtually none of the neutron absorbers reached the core.

>The Ukrainian filmmaker Vladimir Shevchenko captured film footage of an Mi-8 helicopter as its main rotor collided with a nearby construction crane cable resulting in the death of its four-man crew. The photo of the helicopters crew shown in the video clip below was taken by Igor Kostin the day before the crash.

You think management pressuring engineers and employees for "results" is a conspiracy theory??? Have you ever held a job?

All fair points.

Who gives a flying fuck about this completely unconnected topic, you sniveling weasel?

Meant for

Why? Because they had no other quick means of unloading a shit ton of sand onto the core to put out the fire.

Were you dropped on your head as an infant?

Is there something you want to say about it or do you expect me to spend an hour watching a documentary solely for the purpose of entertaining you?

But user, you might be the CEO of a major corporation one day. Whatever will you do when your employees force you to hand over your hard-earned millions? Your socialist ideals aren't working in your own best interests.

The documentary is better than your beloved movie

It would play out exactly like in the show. That's the kind of person I am.

ITT: Socialists who don't believe in the Time value of money argue against capitalists that do, in a Chernobyl thread
Never change /poltv/

Or mb they do. Staying alive is in by best interest.

How dare you.

>staying alive
>in a socialist country
>hunger_games.png
Good one user, you made me laugh again

so doing nothing would have been better?

it could be kino if they leave everything that's a real life mystery a mystery in the show

every youtube video there is some terrorist with an anti-american message.

In this case, yes, because the sand contributed to nothing
Same as pumping water in a non-existent core, it just cost (heroic) lives to be spent

the two guys that were barely wearing clothes were like that because they died first and the other took their clothes because they were all poorly dressed as they left the tent in a hurry

the people missing their eyes and tongues were found 2 months later in a ravine, face down in a stream of icemelt buried under 4 meters of snow

Attached: tmpmVa66U.jpg (554x740, 265K)

Here is your day shift bro, dasvidaniya!

Attached: 1557404947463.png (1920x1080, 1.36M)

because the delusion is so deep they actually believe they're doing a service by covering up. they don't see it as covering up, they see it as a service to the state. that's why socialists are so fucking dangerous.

What would we do now if this happened? I imagine this won't be the last blown up core, eventually something else will hit the fan like in Japan (even though that I think the core was still intact?)

here's your mandatory shot of vodka
now get this radioactive out of here
use your hands if you have to

I was joking.

Attached: you get what you pay for.jpg (600x857, 85K)

what is the metal they were tasting was really just sansa brapping in westeros and the nuclear reactor was a portal into the realm?

Attached: 1472149001947.png (112x146, 31K)

so, a common death in the snow with some uncommon factors

Is dissent just not allowed in the soviet union? Imagine knowing you're going to die pumping that water and still having to go

yeah and probably animals were to blame for the missing parts

They're communists. Do you also believe China when they say they're "Democratic"?

I guess they figured if the worst happened, they were already dead (even if they weren't, but I don't think they were that educated), and if they said no then they'd be sent to a hard labour prison camp and probably die there. So, kinda a lose lose.

>But user, you might be the CEO of a major corporation one day. Whatever will you do when your employees force you to hand over your hard-earned millions? Your socialist ideals aren't working in your own best interests.
And being pressured by stockholders and a board to import foreigners, cut corners on quality, limit R&D, and leave some employees struggling to make ends meet and relying on overburdened tax/assistance is in my best interests?

How?

The writing in the show implies guilt was a heavy motivator.

ah yes, this tired argument again
if what you're advocating is a system that aligns with the system the soviets ran, then I'm going to use the soviet system as an argument against your advocacy

I don't know what you're talking about, but calling a brazenly communist government "socialist" just because it's in the nation's title is inane.

can we just get a /kinobyl/ general already?

thts a comfy name

I mean: the means of production and distribution of goods were controlled by the state. How is that not socialism?

Also from an operator standpoint even if the core was severely damaged keeping what's left covered in water is vitally important. He just couldn't comprehend that the core was completely gone. Also the other guys mocking the one guy durr saying the core exploded is somewhat understandable considering it's true. Power plant cores can't detonate. They just didn't realize at the time they made the core go prompt critical.

Anyone have the name of the novel which has the personal accounts?

I thought the sand did help by absorbing neutrons and reducing reactivity?

>What would we do now if this happened? I imagine this won't be the last blown up core, eventually something else will hit the fan like in Japan (even though that I think the core was still intact?)
Nah, three reactors melted at Fukushima.

There shouldn't ever be a blown up western core. A meltdown like Three Mile Island, but not an explosion. The west typically uses light water reactors with a negative coefficient and containment domes. Basically if the shit hits the fan you let it happen in the dome then clean it up later.

Future reactors should be fail safe designs like thorium reactors or pebble bed reactors. You literally can't make those blow.

watch out for contrarians getting riled up by that notion despite high amounts of posts

>writer compares trump calling CNN fake news to the cover up of Chernobyl
The show is kino but holy shit YIKES.

that's some turbo-tier mental gymnastics right there

Attached: h98t5j7r4z7z.jpg (639x776, 62K)

It's trash. A giant demon polar bear kills them all. THE END. I just literally spoiled the entire show for you.

new thread where

It is socialism. The USSR employed that idea and turned up the totalitarianism until it became communism.

Now remind me why you'd totally do it better this time and not fuck it up?

again the three people that were missing parts weren't found until two months later because the conditions were to harsh to go out and look for them. they were found under 4 meters of snow so scavenging animals is unlikely but they were found in water so the most likely decomposed. the autopsy mentions this was the most likely cause too

Attached: Pasaules-8.jpg (830x502, 62K)

I wouldn't do anything. I'm just a guy. But, for the sake of argument, I'd say if anyone could pull it off it'd be us - and it certainly wouldn't be Russia. Americans have an integrity and shrewdness that has kept us moving forward since before the beginning. Historically we've handled vast shifts and challenges better than most countries, to say the least.

I invite you to review corrupt democrat machine cities and attempt to convince me those people would have integrity with greater centralization.

You are a liar.

Don't let the ads win. Resist!
