Sushi is a food where there's really a hard upper limit on how much quality can be put into it, especially traditional sushi with raw ingredients. Perhaps the glazes and such he makes for the sushi are unparalleled, but in terms of aesthetics, form and quality of the meats used?

Rice is huge, selecting fish is huge. What are you even saying user

Are you guys just poor or what? $800 to be cooked a ten course meal by the greatest three star sushi chef in the entire world?
$800 is a plane ticket. This is an unforgettable once in a lifetime experience.

how does a sushi like this cost in the US?
In Italy it's like 1,50 euro each

t. Ching Chong Quang Wong

in the US it's probably actually fresh, unlike Italy which only has frozen fish.

>t. poor

>EXPENSIVE = art
>CHEAP = shit
It's all just a fucking scam, I'm not paying my entire salary to some old smelly gook to feed me raw fish

I asked about the cost, not the freshness

>cooked
>10 mouthfuls
>a meal

>EXPENSIVE = art

>It's all just a fucking scam
Holy crap we're all being brainwashed!

>implying the fish isn't heated to optimal temperature to specifically complement the grain content of the rice
>implying the meal isn't designed to have each flavor flow directly into each other
>isn't more full on ten pieces of nigiri
Serious question, just how fucking fat are you that you need more food than that to call it a meal?

Sushi rice is the same everywhere user

>t. poor

Is this a serious post? Sashimi is a fucking meme only old gook salarymen pretend to enjoy because actually adding the shit that makes sushi taste good is a perversion of muh traditions n culture

Ten small shrimp and half bites of rice hardly constitutes a meal retard. Weeaboo faggots like you are insufferable.

No one is talking about sashimi, you're very obviously just poor.

It's not. FOMO retards convince themselves they're not missing anything when they can't do the things that they want to do.

Cope harder, its funny to watch.

But it's extremely good top tier world class fish though.
Just the fish selection alone is half the price

its just a plain meal brought up to be something fancy. Make me pay 800$ for god tier steak or deer meat, some complicated dish with rare ingredients, and its ok for me. But sushi? No matter how hard you work on it, its always fucking rice with raw fish on top.

Japs are great at unnecessarily perfecting things that dont need it (see katanas folded 1000times that break in contact with anything)

Kek. My sides. American i guess ? You are easy to spot, guess why.

>Make me pay 800$ for god tier steak

Why do you value meat over fish so much? What's the difference between a wagyu steak and a top tier fatty tuna? The 3 minutes that the steak spends on the griddle?

I eat like a prince for 50-80 yuros. In a country known for its food worldwide. Actual food i mean, not pet food.

There's nothing wrong with not caring for sushi. Bitter poorfags angrily seething over people ascribing value to quality food is pathetic.

Cope harder

Fine dining is a scam, anyone can learn to cook and it's much cheaper once you get everything sorted out.

You have to have the proper tools and willpower to do so though. One of the hardest things about cooking is how time consuming it is, then you got to weigh in time vs money.

Cooking in of itself isn't hard, the amount of time you have to devote to it can be.

Even niche cooking items like Tandoori ovens can be made pretty easily. I've worked in food service for quite a bit and good chefs are a dime a dozen, cooking is an entry level job up until very specific points.

>meats used
You might be surprised how much complexity exists in meat alone like that. That's why they spend a huge amount of time in Jiro Dreams Of Sushi looking for the right tuna. The difference between good catches and great catches is a world apart. It's like the difference between frozen pork burgers and slow roasted brisket.

>So we were on vacation in Tokyo and went to eat at this crazy sushi restaurant. Sukiyabashi Jiro? Have you heard of this?

>Have you ever eaten somewhere like that before?

I like fish sticks you can peel strips off them

HA! You've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders! By posting a variation of the old "who hurt you" reddit standard you have revealed that behind your thin facade of placidity lies extremely and undeniably rustled jimmies! You are in fact SEETHING, and this is without a doubt, a COPE!

You are getting scammed. What you want is value for your money. People that pay hundreds of dollars for a meal are doing it so they can say they payed hundreds of dollars on a meal. Not because the meal was worth that. But what you mostly pay for after a certain price is the atmosphere and experience.

Attached: Gordon-Ramsay.jpg (500x500, 38K)

That has nothing to do with sushi itself though.

There is no complexity in making sushi beyond how autistic you want to be in ingredient prep. And you're limited in how you can work a slice of raw fish.

Cope by calling me poor all you want but sushi is meme food.

I'm asking sincerely. You've filled out nearly twenty captchas groveling over not being able to afford an extremely particular sushi restaurant in Tokyo.
Why are you so bitter? Save up whatever dispensable income you have and go there if it means that much to you.
>Not because the me was worth that
No, the meal was worth that to them. That's why the paid for it with money.
See how that works, dumbfuck?
Your little communist utopian conceptions of objective wealth have no basis in reality.

Literally perturbed

Literally cope.

>what you mostly pay for
What about labor cost? Should the top sushi chef in the world be making mcdonalds wages?

Again, 300 dollars is not expensive or overpriced for literally Jiro's sushi

>blocks your path

Attached: 1555968432046.jpg (1200x800, 78K)

It costs that much more as a status symbol than a quality product. Sushi is the beats headphones of food.

You need to get your head out of your arse and realise that after a certain point these meals are over priced luxury goods that are only sought after because they are priced that high. And you can get an maybe even a tastier meal and more fulfilling experience if you go to the right restaurant and put down 20 to 50 bucks.

Attached: 20-gordon-ramsay.w700.h700.jpg (700x700, 136K)

>Jiro is an autistic savant because he notices when people are left or right handed and serves food accordingly.

wtf, I worked at bar and it's literally one of the first things you pick up to be to be more efficient, like when setting down change or whatever. Where's my fucking michelin star?

Attached: 1554731179423.png (645x773, 11K)

Friendly reminder than anybody who is obsessed with Jap "culture" like anime or sushi is either a total autist or/and basedboy

Or you know, you learn to cook and make stuff yourself. I agree with this, I've been working with food for quite some time and these places are more for status than anything.

They costs that much because the regular clientele is making six figures and they are "above" chains, local, and lower echelon cuisine. This overpriced bullshit is a manifestation of their desires.

Sadly, tourists will get raped by these prices as they are the ones getting scammed here.

>Should the top sushi chef in the world be making mcdonalds wages?

He deserves decent pay, sure. But the guy that cuts up my fish is not entitled to getting rich. Maybe he should try selling cook books or getting a tv show.

Attached: gordon6-1.jpg (550x367, 45K)

>How odd that someone would pay $100 for a meal when I get two McChickens for $2 any day of the week. What's going on here?

>20 to 50 bucks.
Fucking lmao, barely get a proper dry aged steak for those pennies, let alone a ten course top tier sushi meal

Quoting the Princess Bride is one of the most Reddit things I’ve ever seen

>There is no complexity in making sushi

Horseshit. If it's that easy, open a sushi bar and charge two figures a plate. That's what people are paying for quality sushi so what's stopping you.

Penniless zoomers in this thread have no concept of quality. Not everything 'expensive' is a meme.

(You)

>be aggressively, ravenously poor
>for no reason

Reminder that sushi is considered street food in Japan and costs like a McChicken, while here you have to pay 1000 dorra for frozen Mexican salmon

>Not everything 'expensive' is a meme.
