I guess the actors do a fairly good job given that they obviusly didn't have years of training. The dojo scenes are a bit cringey and the fights aren't the best, but I like how they show the difference between kata and its application, following in the steps of the movies.

anyway I watched one episode and I've been hooked ever since. and I've also found a lot of other great youtube red exclusives that I never would have discovered had I not given this amazing series a chance.

To be fair, Daniel in Season 2 was Kreese and Johnny together. His dojo vandalized and Miyagi’s Medal of Honor stolen by a Cobra Kai student. Hawk even spray painted Cobra Kai on the car Miyagi gifted Daniel on his birthday. After the events or Karate Kid 3 where Kreese, Terry Silver and Mike Barnes terrorized and undermined him and Miyagi can you really blame Daniel from being suspicious towards Johnny and anyone affiliated with Cobra Kai?

In early Season 1 when Daniel met Johnny again, he had no problems with his former bully. It was only when Johnny opened up his Cobra Kai dojo that Daniel acted out because he was having PTSD and didn’t want another generation of teen thugs harassing kids again. We, as the viewers know that Johnny actually wants for bullied kids to stand up for themselves and act as an anti-thesis to Kreese’s brainwashing. However Daniel does not see that and tried to undermine Johnny from having his dojo leased.

And if you notice throughout Season 1 and 2, Daniel tries to give Johnny some benefit of doubt and even objectively assesses him to Robby about not being a monster and that he’s still Robby’s dad. Johnny doesn’t have the courtesy to do the same.

When Daniel overreacted at Johnny’s apartment about Sam being drunk and staying at his place because of Robby was the moment when Daniel should’ve chilled the fuck out. I can understand why Daniel lashed out and it was a joke that he and Johnny had a karate brawl as grown men.

I honestly question people’s cognitive skills when they comment Cobra Kai. Too much parroting from Daniel is the Real Bully meme instead of actually seeing how a lot of problems are due to misunderstandings and how the other side fails to empathize the other’s reaction due to lack of foresight and knowledge of what the other went through or is going through.
