Oldfag here. The userbase used to be smart people who liked novelty and exotic stuff. Little by little, we were overcome by literal autists and mentally ill people.
Now 90% of the users here are just pattern-detecting autists whose idea of humor and fun is just to repeat patterns they have recognised, because they are unable to understand anything beyond that. No subtlety, no understanding of other people or even themselves. That's why so many ask, unironically, "What did he mean by this?" because they literally can't read faces or human emotion and expression.
Because of this, people from outside Yea Forums now come to tease these autists and incels. And to be frank, for oldfags like myself, the only fun left on Yea Forums(nel) is to see said autists and incels get butthurt. They have ruined everything, seeing them get trolled and asshurted is the only thing this place now has to offer.
Remember: every user that says "Reddit" in any way either comes directly from Reddit and is ashamed of his origins, or is from Reddit unashamedly and merely trying to troll locals.

They ARE getting played. This focus on racial, identitity, gay, etc. politics and its opposite hyper-liberal force of contention really became what they are in response to russian organizations ramping up tensions on these subjects artificially. people followed suit on both sides, and more and more people started popping up in both extremes as a response to the opposite, or as a way to gain tribal acceptance where they fail in other groups. Also before someone claims Russia thing is bullshit, my terminology was purposefully vague. I'm just stating the facts. This culture of contention has bled over into everything including Yea Forums.
I'm stuck between thinking that the world itself is driving out more of this mindset through its own insanity, and that people these days only communicate via meme tropes. Zoomers actually seem to lack some form of humanity. They're as bad as boomers.
