American here. I've gone through peep show, the office_UK and the inbetweeners. loved every bit. Where do I go from here? Interested in finding some other British comedies

The first season of Fresh Meat was pretty funny but after that it turns into a drama with some funny lines sprinkled throughout the show.

It crowd if you can get passed the laugh track

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace

Type in best british comedies of all time. Then type in underrated british comedy and you pretty have it all

Fresh Meat
Plebs
IT Crowd
Mitchell & Webb Look
Thick of It

Agree. If OP liked the inbetweeners, chances are he'll like fresh meat.

I would go with the classics. They are not similar to the shows you watched but they are good. shows like Only fools and horses, Black adder, Red Dwarf

Even though its quite old, I'd still recommend Blackadder

thick of it

darkplace

Lead Balloon

Go back even further: Steptoe and Son, Til Death Us Do Part, Fawlty Towers, Q, Two Ronnies, Dad's Army, Are You Being Served, Open All Hours, Rising Damp

Holy shit I forgot about this

the young ones

'Coupling' is a fun show. Its pretty much an earlier, significantly better version of "How I Met Your Mother." Watch the episode "giggle loop"

It Crowd
Plebs
The Thick Of It
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
Toast of London

I would recommend Misfits, even though it's not exactly a comedy.

Utopia is also great but more of a dark comedy.

How is toast of London? I heard it's mediocre

Is Matt Berry's charm enough to carry it?

I liked it and I hate most British shows like the Mighty Boosh but Matt Berry does carry it.

Who said it's mediocre? You have to enjoy the surreality and absurdist wordplay of things like Father Ted to enjoy Toast though

The thing is these shows are considered unfunny trash in Britain, to you, the American they are only funny because of the zany accents and lingo.

These shows are to Britain what The Big Bang theory is to America

League of gentlemen

Then what do Brits watch because most British shows i see are cringe. I'm Aussie btw

I like this pasta

The Goodies

Brasseye/The Day Today
Phoenix NIghts

skins season 1 and 2.

Brass Eye

sally4ever is the best recent one
Four Lions is also british comedykino
The Thick of It

Snuff Box
Ideal

fawlty towers is must watch if you like comedy

Black Adder, skip season 1 tho. Also goes forth is the best season.

the thick of it

>Is Matt Berry's charm enough to carry it?
It's a Matt Berry show. If you like him it's great.
Man Down is the only other I don't already see listed.

it crowd!

You go deeper:

The Peter Serafinowicz Show
Monkey Dust
Father Ted
Look Around You

youtube.com/watch?v=BGGOn-H7s3Q

Detectorists and Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing are two of the best shows I've seen in recent years.

ABSOLUTELY THIS

red dwarf
blackadder (skip the first season on your first watch)
only fools and horses
keeping up appearances

keep in mind these are all older shows and so they're not nearly as nihilistic when it comes to humour as peep show

Normies watch mock the week but its a panel show not a sitcom
Middle class normies watch have i got news for you

You can probably find both on youtube

Cant believe no one suggested Alan Partridge stuff yet, its top tier.

kiss my face

Black Books

Chris Morris's stuff (Brass Eye etc.), Look Around You, Mr. Bean had some kino shorts

Todd Margaret

How British do you want to go? Full British where age is no concern? For me, the best is

Red Dwarf
Only Fools and Horses
Blackadder
Fawlty Towers
I'm Alan Partridge
Till Death Us Do Part
Drop The Dead Donkey
Steptoe and Son
Father Ted
Rab C. Nesbitt
The League of Gentlemen
One Foot in the Grave
Dad's Army
Porridge
Bottom
Desmond's
The Young Ones
The Vicar of Dibley
Spaced
Keeping Up Appearances
The Thick of It
Yes Minister
The Office
Rising Damp
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
Men Behaving Badly
Phoenix Nights
Black Books
The Fast Show
Peep Show
Green Wing
PhoneShop

White Gold

Father Ted
Skins
People Just do Nothing
Friday Night Dinner
Outnumbered

>friday night dinner
this is the correct answer right here

>28 KB
i'd say that's true with inbetweeners, but the peep show is top tier

>mock the week after 2010
yikes

why has no one mentioned Extras yet?
I get it you hate Ricky Gervais but based on what OP mentioned he'd probably like it

This. A 1000 times this.

Toast of London was really obnoxious to me. I can only enjoy Berry in short bursts I guess, like his role in IT Crowd. He was too cartoonish in that show for me to have any kind of attachment to what was happening. And the comedy was just a little too ridiculous for me.

black books
the it crowd
father ted
darkplace
blackadder if for some reason you've never seen it
first season of misfits
the thick of it's not bad
