I'm gonna guess. Rorshach's journal was kept secret and a cult formed to pass down its secrets. The governments and media of the world embraced a unified peace so much that they'll do anything to keep it going. so the world is orwellian and oppressive and those who question the peace get handled. rorshach's cult wants to bring the truth to the world but they're seen as a terrorist group. the cop lady stumbles onto this and starts pulling threads to ultimately find out that the peace was a lie the whole time. veidt is jeremy irons and he also wants to keep the peace. he's made a huge profit from it. he's killed early on in the season, if not the first episode. this is also what starts the lady cop down the same road as rorshach. don johnson is in on the conspiracy to keep things quiet. he may even be someone from the original Watchmen days. Jane (Dr Manhattan's bitch) seems to be alive. Jean Smart is in the trailer but not in imdb cast list. So I say she'll end up being an older Silk Spectre II.
