My point was that you shouldn't look at your depression as "It'll turn around after I've got X" instead try to be as satisfied as possible within the situation you are in right now and then try to better it. You'll most likely always be a form of depressed but by blaming external factors for your depression you're in effect moving the goalpost for yourself.

If you got a girlfriend you'd think "yeah but I'm not rich enough which is why i'm still depressed" then when you are wealthy you'd come up with something else.

So stop moving goalposts and try to find satisfaction from within yourself. This is the best way to come to terms with your depression, even if it will never be truly fixed.

Okay since lots of people in the thread don't even know how it is to be rich let me explain exactly how it will affect your life.

At first you'll be glad and you'll go on lots of holidays have sex with a lot of women etc. But after a year or two you've seen all landmarks and things you'd enjoy. You are getting bored from having the same type of women everytime that are extremely shallow. Men around you start to become fake as well as they want you to like them.

You'll start to lose real human connection with people. Even your old friends and family start to either feel alienated because you can't relate with each other's lives anymore of he starts to become as fake as the rest.

So eventually loneliness starts to kick in. You'll realize you'll never have a genuine connection with people again. Even meeting people of similar wealth will only result in networking and a sort of "pissing match" where they try to out-compete each other with outlandish spending.

So now you're isolated, alone and there is no way out. Sure you can purchase all goods and services you want but that doesn't change anything. You reading this right now has access to all movies, books and videogames through piracy and the internet. Your lives is better than 99.9% of humans ever lived but that doesn't fix your loneliness.

This is how the life is for most rich people and why people like me get depressed even though we are wealthy. Giving the money away also isn't a genuine solution as you might feel you are missing out on something.

Wealth is a fucking mousetrap. It would maybe be different if every human was wealthy or if materialism didn't even exist in the first place. But it does and so all your connections with other people will forever be fake and shallow.
