Agree for the most part. The comedic timing sometimes seems off, and the direction is generally bad to the point you don't know what the fuck is happening in certain action scenes.
I think I will just pick up the manga and go from there.

I liked Mob hesitating about using his powers on spirits and learning to use them more on humans (at least if they're espers). I also like the Reigen episodes, although they could have been cut down to 1 episode.

This episode was just bad. So many different plot points and pointless shit when all we want is to see baldy knock people the fuck out and still end up a punchline. Instead we waste entire episodes on literally who's and shit you don't care about because of the bad pacing.

Haven't read the manga for either but as far as far as anime goes Mob has much darker moments than OPM. The only really dark or depressing thing in OPM is Saitama's unfulfilled desires, but even then he's not super depressed about it, just permanently melancholy. It has good emotional moments because ONE can apparently do no wrong, but it's still primarily a comedy, while Mob is more of a coming of age story or a drama

There is no direction at all. Each scene is literally shot for shot the same as the manga which is pure hackery. An actual director would use his head and change the "cinematography" to something that would be better for animation.

Madhouse that mad the first season needed another year before they could work on season 2. The IP holder decided to swap to a cheeper one to get a new season out fast.

To be fair, this also happened in s1 to a certain degree, it's just that we didn't care much because we were distracted with the impressive animation, not to mention the oustanding direction, the music, the designs... Just like the movies, anime is a visual medium. Without quality animation or at least a competent direction, anime is pointless. Imagine a Kubrick movie with the cinematography of the MCU... yeah, unironically Yikes.

I honestly don't mind the side filler it has always been there. The joke has always been there is a big buildup of fighters who are in tiered power levels and opm shows up and kills them in one punch because he is over powered.

However I weep for the loss of those beautiful for lack of a better word bullet time scenes. Those just disappeared the minute season 2 starts.

S1 battles get referenced later in the story
If it didnt happen the later plot point wouldn't make sense.

It has to be, to make up for what it lacks in terms of production values. The same goes for any low budget/indie project in any medium. If your little garage punk band doesn't have the right riffs, nobody will care.
Most of the time the difference between a 5/10 anime and a 9/10 is the animation. Don't change anything of Goblin Slayer, just improve the animation and you elevate the whole thing 3 or 4 points just like that. Or take away the brilliant direction from Prison School and it becomes another forgettable ecchi show.

It most definitely has bad pacing. There are some nice additions like Garou vs the eight heroes at the shed but so much of what's is just spinning its wheels. The entire Hellfire and Gale Wind plotline was pointless and I have no idea why we kept having to see those fucking characters.
