CIA is in it so you wont be able to take a lot of the scenes seriously
No not really, just watch it
It can be slow at points and Season 2 is sort of off putting at first but being able to binge watch it helps
First season is very slow.
Don't worry if it starts off slow. It gets good once you get towards the end of season 5
Download subtitles
I marathoned the cold opener of the first episode and it honestly is not that good
It's a show made by whites who think black people in ghettos can be intelligent and think with hindsight in mind. The show never takes any risks and whenever it makes an attempt to have drama, nobody important gets hurt. Don't watch it.
the first episode i snot very engaging but it becomes important later on. it's really uninteresting and took about three attempts to finish it. it's worth pushing through though
Overrated and outdated trash, who the fuck still uses beepers in 2019.
1>3>2>5>4
seasons 1 and 2 both start slowly [moreso than others]
this is probably the best show of all time
yah subtitles might be a good idea, the slang and accents can make it hard to decipher all of what is being said
"It’s often said the most compelling character in HBO’s The Wire isn’t Jimmy McNulty, Avon Barksdale, or Omar Little, but the city of Baltimore itself."
It's the greatest television show of all time, bar none. Racist retardos on 4chinz will say it's shit and overrated (even though Season 2 about white dock workers is the best) but they've never even seen it.
It's top notch.
Its so fucking boring.
>FRANK SABOTKA
Its a great show, the best after Sopranos I think. Its so good that afterwards if difficult to watch other tv-shows because you realize how dumb they are. Also dont listen to retards who claim its propaganda and whatnot. The Wire actually completely ignores topics like race and feminism. It focuses on failing institution and urban decline.
Dont be discouraged by the first few episodes, try to watch at least until ep. 5 before you give up. Trust me, its worth it
it's dated quite badly though. what once seemed subtle now seems heavy handed. really it's like gta the tv series with how cardboard cutout its characters are.
Are you high iq enough?
OP here, just finished first 15 minutes of the first episode of season 1, not gonna continue.
Before you watch the wire you should watch the corner
Your pathetic Op
Get used to lots of head bobbing OP
This meme. I'm the whitest Surrey boy you'll ever meet and I didn't miss a word.
>accidentally watched the last episode of s3 as first
fucking fuckity fuck
It's the best show of all time. You will realise this once you finish the series.
It starts off slow, may even take you an entire season or more to get into the flow of things.
Now go away to avoid getting spoiled. GO ON GET!
>1>3>2>5>4
el oh fucking el, so contrarian. why 4 so low then?
1>>4>>>one of the worst actors on the show
>The Wire
>better than Rome, The Sopranos or the first Season of TD
Look, it's a great show, but to call it GOAT is just objectively wrong.

The ghetto scenes were never subtle or even remotely realistic. White liberals pretending ghetto people are ebonics-speaking Shakespeare characters. The only part of the series that came across as realistic was the dock plot in season 2. Everything else was really broad.
Blacks being blacks
Definitely watch The Corner
What's TD?
I just binged this show and moved on to Deadwood. I wish the Wire had more seasons because yikes, DW is very mediocre at best.
I can't watch The Corner because I grew up with an addict mother and it triggers me like a little faggot
true, though on acting and writing ALONE it is probably the best, since it has way less spectacle than Rome and not as much drama as the Sopranos, so it stands purely on the writing and acting alone.
Rome and Sopranos, just no. two incredibly overrated shows. (full disclosure i havent seen rome s2, i gave up after the 1st)
TD S1 had high highs but with that pathetic ending? also no.
The Wire Season 1 tops literally everything
As someone who is a drug overlord in his block AND has seen The Wire i can tell you that the show is pretty unrealistic.
True Detective
Has no spark.
It's retarded beyond belief to say
>it's not good at the start but just watch anyway it gets good later
I watched episode 1 some time ago and it felt like police drama #2103 but just set in the black ghetto. Not warranting continuation.
While I hate Brother Mozone, Lamar was top tier nigga. Easy top 5 of minor characters in a show
Watched like 5 times, always great. Currently watching The Deuce
That's DeAndre McCullough. He's the guy the kid in the Corner is based on.
>I watched episode 1 some time ago and it felt like police drama #2103
I felt the same exact same way except I made it through the entire first season. Thought it was average, left it for a year, then came back and started enjoying it more. Now I think the show is GOAT and S1 is pure kino.
The show is simply structured differently than most other shows and it takes time to allow the characters and story to unfold.
There's a reason why The Wire is held above all the other shows in regards to intelligence. The show stands alone, and patience pays off so much.
Essentially you're implying this nigga is a fucking retard
and I agree with you 100%
Season 2 is casual filter
For sure, normies just get irritated because it's not the same characters from the first season. Frank Sobotka is a amazing television character
ELECTION DAY SPECIAL
TWO FOR TWO
Went from my least favourite to my favourite on a rewatch, Frank was the best character in the show.
I tried watching season one a few times and it never clicked. Eventually got into it watching somebody's stream of season 3. S1 is a very slow police procedural.
this isn't a joke. I had no fucking idea what was going on the first season -- I missed so much important dialogue coz I don't understand jive.
dude, just, like, watch 40 episodes and you'll be hooked
season 2 was when the penny dropped for me, and I realised how fucking amazing this show is. When people tell me 5>2, I automatically consider them to be idiots. 5 is the worst season. S2 might be the 2nd best.
>Rome
>Sopranos
>Breaking Bad
>True Detective S1
>Game of Thrones S1-S4
>House of Cards S1-S2
>LOST
I love the wire, but it can't hold a candle to any of these
