This, amazing character interactions without any of the meme characters or meme jokes. It has it's own three act structure and is a self contained story in itself where the tension is fantastic and the payoff to the building is nothing short of amazing.

This episode gives you one of the deepest dives into Tony's psyche and how everyone acts around him, and the episode perfectly sums up his character as well the show in it's entirety itself. He just destroys everyone around him because he's a selfish prick. Seeing Bobby's corruption and transformation is one of the greatest plot developments in the entire series.

Also has the best cinematography in any of the episodes, with that last shot being truly kino.

Soprano Home Movies is an unassuming masterpiece

College. Hands down.

The duality of the episode is kind of hammered a little too hard with that Hawthorne quote in the end but the way it blended Tony as the loving father and Tony as the cold blooded killer was pretty innovative in television. Before that a character was basically just good or bad. Chase was criticized at the time because people felt he was ruining a sympathetic character. It was a daring choice for that time.

Bobby is probably the most tragic character in the whole show. He's probably the only that was truly a good person.

D-Girl

Shut the fuck up reddit nigger

I dont know why,but i found the characters of the two cheese fucks also very tragic.

bobbyfags were a mistake. I hope you and your disgusting cunt of a mother both get cancer.

Almost every episode is self contained idiot.

>Pine Barrens
The most reddit episode to be sure

>I think the biggest one to me, but let's take a look at that one.

>"The King's Speech" is about a guy, John, who's got a big apartment and, well, he has a giant apartment and they had this one episode, you know. I felt like it was really relevant, so I just came in and I played him, and I came out after eight hours and I came back, and that was the big thing.

>And it was actually a lot of stuff, too. A lot of the scene was about all that stuff that John wanted from me. He was telling me he was trying to build a life for himself and for his wife. It was a lot of things he was going to do he'd like to accomplish that the other guy said, "No. You can't do that because he doesn't exist, and you know what? He exists. He doesn't belong to the guys in that office and they don't have anything at all to do with him.

The one where Johnny sack finds out about the 95 lb mole on his wife’s ass

Thats exactly what the cheese fucks would have said

Please try to understand the subtext of what you watch. Bobby didn't want to ever to kill anybody and Tony knew this. There's a scene on the lake where they establish this.

The fight happens and Tony's ego is hurt. To get back at him he makes Bobby kill somebody. Tony forced it upon him despite the numerous times Bobby tries to back out without outright denying a direct order from the head of the family. And from that point on Bobby has changed. Throughout the entire series it's established he's a beta male who doesn't fit in with the rest of the crew and is an actual kind person at heart. Although most of the character were also forced into the life because of family, he was the only one who didn't embrace any of the degenerate stuff any of the other guys did.

It was Tony that forced his hand and robbed him of his innocence.

they have self contained stories but none of them are as well executed as a singular proper cohesive story as it is in that episode

10/10

nigga he's a made guy who has robbed, extorted and killed. this isnt tony making him eat a cupcake, he goes out and murders someone, point blank, cold blood just to close the deal with some guys who sell pills past their expiration date
there's no fucking way to justify bobby, oh look he's a fat piece of shit who likes trains and cried when his wife died, he's still mobbed up

there is no relevant subtext here, the show does great work and goes lengths to show mobsters in a "human" fashion but he isnt mixed up out of circumstance with the mafia, he's fucking made guy. if bobby has a "kind heart" then he has taken a shit all over it. didnt he extort union guy threatening his family? what a big ol heart bobby has

>look man paulie isnt a piece of shit, he really loved his auntmother

there are lots of wacky and idiosyncratic episodes

Funhouse
Test Dream
And the episode where Pussy is crying like a bitch PLUS
The one where Paulie sees his ghost

These were my top favorites. Sopranos is still one of the only shows/films/series that have NAILED dream sequences. It is astounding how few people understand Tony riding a Horse into Carm's house.

enlighten me

E-I-E-I-OHHHHHHHHHH

The horse represents society

The horse was the name of the bar.

does anyone have the copypasta of ralfie going a. she was a whore b. she hit me all the way to z

killing yourself would do us all a bigger favor

That's the episode people told me to watch to get into the series and it was fucking terrible. Like a bad mafia comedy.

One of tony's captains gets a horse. Tony sort of takes better care of and loves the horse more than the owner, at the owners expense. When that guy greets tony and tells him about the horse he says "She likes it when you rub her muzzle". Tony also goes on to steal that guys girl friend from him just like the horse. Flash forward a season, and he is having a dream (A proper dream sequence that the sopranos uses well, most dream sequences suck dick and are lazy writing.) And in this dream he is fucking one of his best friend's wives. His best friend is watching, and he says "She likes it when you rub her muzzle" and that is just a super small call back to the fact that tony wants to steal his friends wife just like his other friend's horse. The next sequence in the dream is him riding that horse into his home, and asking his wife if he can keep it. The horse symbolizes his infidelity and him needing to be able to sleep around, but a horse in a house makes a fucking mess so his wife says he needs to keep it outside - which means that in his dream he knew that he'd be able to keep sleeping around as long as no more bullshit happened and ruined his wife's life.
ALL of that is unspoken

It's just a hoo-arse

Ah, so another horse/whores analogue like with Tracy and Pie-Oh-My

I had a dream where an Aquarium Bursts and dozens of birds come flying out of it.What does that mean?

She is directly related to the same thing. Its all a big chain of events and its all related.

Pic related, her picture in the last scene of the episode where he kills ralph for selfish reasons.

>Its that fuckin kid Jason...hes dyslexic

no way fag

This entire show is reddit, retard.

Funhouse

House Arrest is an underrated classic. The basic synopsis is that Tony gets grounded by his lawyer and can't go outside and play with his friends and that's just adorable

>starting a show on its 3rd season
your friends are dumb but you are just as dumb for following that shitty advice

nice one user, didnt catch this. GOAT show.

One of my favourite subtleties is Tony has to do with the line Junior says about Livia "she's like a woman with a Virginia ham under her arm, crying the blues 'cause shes got no bread"

In the finale (I think), after the NY threat is no longer a thing and Tony moves back into the house, hes seen in his driveway holding a ham. It could be a coincidence, but given the level of detail the show went into (especially with callbacks in the finale), I doubt it.

he literally hasn't and the fact that you put that together with robbery and extortion shows your smoothbrain

Nigger cope

Man I gotta rewatch it for that, I never paid attention to that stuff. I miss a lot of Lydia and Junior's comments. Captain teeb and shit.

college
it's the first episode where we feel tonys criminal life and family life are intersecting and the first one we see how remorseless tony can be
it also shows how carmela manipulates people(the priest in this episode) to help her try to fix tony but she really just wants validation she knows she can't change tony but she doesn't want to feel guilty about staying around

I'm actually watching this episode now. First time watching Sopranos since very early 2000s. I like the way he and his daughter Meadow opened up to each other. Him about what he really does, and trying to gauge her reaction to it, and her with her newly acquired drug habit. It felt like a real father-daughter relationship.

could use one subtle lightsaber

>and her with her newly acquired drug habit.

refresh my memory

You know, the Moors...

She and one of her friends went to Christopher for "speed" to help them study for S.A.Ts. Christopher was freaking out about it because one of Junior's henchmen roughed him up and killed his friend and Christopher thought Tony had found out he gave his daughter drugs.

That's like a super minor subplot that gets resolved super early. If anything AJ is the one with the drug problem considering he smoked weed the same day as his christening. But Chrissy is the one with the worst drug problem
