They definitely have a point it has a weird following even among people who don't like Lynch, I agree it's far from the best from Lynch for me. But it's still very good.

His other works are a drag though, Barely managed to finish Blue Velvet and this is the 2nd time I try to marathon IE but I don't feel any desire to keep watching

Haven't seen Tree of Life, or Boyhood, but that's absurd, what the fuck are they basing it on.
Particularly since some of the weaker films aren't incredibly popular (there will be blood, for example). Then you have nolan's two most polished films, shawshank is the best prison film, amelie is the best french quirky film, ferris bueller is (one of) the best teen films. oz is a classic. fight club is fight club. mulholland drive is peak lynch.

I actually agree with most of these except for Mulholland Dr and Ferris Bueller. Wizard of Oz is one I've always thought got more praise than it deserved, not even the best 30s musical
