A mere flick when compared to any actual french film.
all the top tier french kino is comedy. If you're not completely fluent+ knowledgeable about french culture you'll never have access to it
I mean, given tat the movie is "Pretty good" while most other French movies are "Pure trash", that is not saying much.
why are french movies so bad?
Are they even French people?

I still think about that ending scene from time to time, really memorable.
how come french people make films on police brutality and socioeconomic disparity so much better than americans??

Here is the box office top 3 in France

Also no capeshit in the top 100 kek
It is jewish power fantasy. Director is super cringe jewish saviour of POC. Thankfully he got completely BTFO after incessant antisemitism from both black french and terrorism muslims who explicitly target jewish establishments in france.
He's a good actor though.
Only plebs hate kino
I don't think that's literally true, although I've no hesitation calling La Haine a genuinely great film.
I'd suggest there's a very deeply entrenched reluctance in America to acknowledge poverty even exists here.
based
No.
>comedy
I hate comedies.
Just started getting into French cinema, watching some really old kinos.
Port of Shadows is almost 10 out of 10.

This movie was so good because there was no holier than thou attitude or good guy/bad guy undertones. Pun unintended, but it was very grey and showed the ignorance and stupidity of both sides without any bias. I think the whole police brutality thing is a joke but watching this movie, that was the first time I felt like I was watching something on that topic, being spoken to about that topic, and NOT being talked to in a condescending way. It was very subtle and tried to talked to both sides of the argument. America has never done a movie about race relations as good as this because we're fucking retarded
They don't.
they did though, OP proved it
