Good point. I would say thought that those posters seem like basic posters to get the overall tone of the movie across early on like you said. The Aladdin poster seems like a lot of time went into it.

Will Smith is so large here because his contract stipulates that the size of his head must be n% larger than other actors.
This is why "floating heads" on posters is so common.
There were probably many iterations with Will Smith emerging from the lamp, but the style guide probably says that when connected to lamp, the genie must be blue.
The blue genie doesn't work well in market, so they had to come up with a composition where Will Smith is still larger than other actors but not in blue genie form.
After 100s or 1000s of iterations and 20+ testing finals tested in mid west markets, this design was settled on.
The best designs are locked up in the design houses that bid on contracts for final key art for Aladdin, and will never be seen until "Home Entertainment" release (i.e. streaming and blu ray covers).

These are standard terms in contracts for A-list actors. It's usually proportional to payment per movie. Hollywood lawyers on each side would expect these terms at minimum.
