So you don’t get sieged to death. Everyone telling Danny to siege kings landing is basically right, at this point Cersei only controls the city and maybe parts of the westerlands and the reach, but seemingly with nobody outside to raise and lead armies in these other areas.

So here sallying outside the city actually makes sense, she either defeats her besiegers in the field in a decisive blow or she slowly waits for death which will inevitably come. Her mercenary army would probably abandon her or even switch sides after they get sick enough of the siege
