Having a single "favorite" film is a sign of a manchild.

Some movies are just objectively better than others.

A film can be """objectively""" the worst film ever made and it can still be one of your favorites.

Why would I choose anything but the best I've seen as my favourite?

Many reasons. Nostalgia, life memories, attachments whatever. Your favorite film can have quite a few flaws but you still absolutely love it because of certain other characteristics that appeal to you specifically, while still being aware of the flaws.

I absolutely love cheesy 80s horror flicks, but to pretend like those films are "the best ones" would be quite retarded of me.

some films can be objectively great, some films can resonate more with a person because of personal attributes despite being a flawed film

Im a weeb so sorry in advance.
5-7: Lord of the rings, cant remember which obviously.
7-14: Still lord of the rings (loved the Nazgul parts), but I watched some awesome movies too thinking that there were lots of them so they werent that special to me (Gladiator/Matrix/Troy).
14-16: Didnt watch movies that much, became a gamer. Still Lotr I guess. Star Wars sucks ass.
16-18: Anime, Shinsekai Yori/Jigoku Shoujo.
18-20: Dark period of life, gaming and sadness.
21: Where Im at now, Jigoku Shoujo/Lotr/Troy/Gladiator/Naruto(Itachi arc, Minato and Kushina 'arc').

still cant believe there arent any other movies set in ancient times/medieval times with Troy and Gladiator's quality. YIKES.

I hate criminal movies as they are super pathetic in one way or another so rip fast and furious/fight club/godfaggot etc.

Star wars is bad because it is obviously only good because of the sense of wonder at possible future technologies. Im quite adept at physics so I couldnt ever really soak it in past the age of 13.

After reading through the posts ITT: Jurassic park is an honorable mention, but it feels super old to watch. Some scary movies were great as well as I was growing up, but none overtook Lotr in any category (Romance/Honor/Fear/Awesomeness/Emo-awesomeness/Magic/Wonder).
Harry Potter was pretty interesting too, but god damn the cast didnt age well hahahahahah.

Yes, autists do autistic stuff.

This sort of obsessive collection and categorization of minutia is fucking pathetic. So of course it gets a foothold among the passive cinema fanatics.

also, liking BvS unironically is bonus retardation

Return of the Jedi for 24 years straight, starting at age 5.

Are you a /k/omrade?

Is eyes wide shut even that good?

My friend told me about it and he described it as "guy goes to rich orgies and realizes there is more to life"

Your friend is a retard who boils down entire films into single sentence platitudes and you're a retard for trusting his opinion. Yes EWS is a master piece.
